Jai Sitaram. I was at this concert today. It was magical listening to this concert live. Felt goosebumps at a number of occasions. The joy and love expressed by the Vidvaans while performing was wonderful to watch. We were smiling along with them. We were nodding along with them. It is one of the best concerts conducted so far. Amazing Veena playing by upcoming Prodigy Vidwan. Sri Ramana Balachandran, an artist blessed and sent by Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi ji. He will occupy the highest position in Canatic music world. Really I felt that Veena is singing. His vocal expertise also an added quality. Sri Patri Sampath Kumar ji is playing Mrudangam in an extraordinary style like Palghat ji. A very beautiful combination.

Normally two string instruments does not combine in a concert.

@ normally yes, but since he is performing vocal, Veena, I thought a violin could have complemented and followed his beautiful rendition of those phrases in a true anusarana and sahavidhana, rather than just Patri doing it on percussion which he has done amazingly well, but in my humble opinion, would have been further more outstanding.

@@Chandra806 With due respect to all vidwans of Carnatic music, of late, in the name of innovation, few young musicians ,they try their intelligence and prove their authority. If he is expert in vocal he can perform seperately and not combine with string instrument. Combing vocal and instrument will confuse the accompanist as the rhythm for both is totally different. Since it was Shree Patri, he could sail easily. Probably you are aware, to learn any string or drum instruments, vocal is a must for atleast three years. Though I have not learnt music from any Guru, I have knowledge about music and also a home singer and practice daily for an hour. I am 65.🙏

I was unhappy with the introduction of Vidwan Ramana Balachandran without knowing his music training. His Gurus are Parents Balachandran and Sharanya. Vidushi Nagalakshmi. Vidushi Neela Ramagopal and also Mridangam Vidwans. By telling Self taught Vidwan, it is Sacrilege. His website gives all the details.
