Marguerite Long declared Samson IS Chopin (even though she once came to blows with her prodigal student). I say Samson is Schumann, the nocturnal imp. Listen not just to Carnaval (thanks as always, Gullivior) but also to his Chopin, Ravel, Franck - it’s all driven by a Schumannesque spirit.
