I absolutely adore Regina Spektor. She's probably my favorite artist, and her music represents so many special places and times in my life. Her lyrics have always resonated with me, as she does such an incredible job of storytelling through song, whether it be a fun, silly song like "Music Box", or something more deep and emotional like "Open". She also has had so many different styles over her career, like earlier on with her 11:11 album, it felt more experimental and jazzy/bluesy, with her really discovering her own sound with Soviet Kitsch. I think the Begin to Hope album was the peak, and an album I constantly go back to. Her live performances are equally as mesmerizing! Her performance of "Summer in the City" at 2007 Lollapalooza is still one of my favorite videos on KZbin. That song always makes me emotional for all the right reasons. Heh I could talk for hours about Regina, so I digress. She certainly would love your cover :)

Also, I didn't even realize it before, but I greatly appreciate you not changing the pronouns of the song. I've heard too many covers ruined by people trying to make Samson a woman or changing the "me"s to "her"s etc.

Regina has still been pretty active, she did a successful Broadway run in 2019, but like so many others has kept low during the pandemic...

She has young children now and I’m guessing it’s challenging to tour and promote an album, especially with COVID. Perhaps when they get older and the pandemic clears up she may revisit that life again, but for now she’s pursuing other opportunities.
