Samson was a warrior He killed a lion with his bare hands With only a donkey's jawbone He cut down 1000 men. He set fire to Philistine crops And burned their fields down. Vineyards, corn, and olive groves All burned to the ground. Philistines vowed revenge For all that he had done. They paid Delilah to find out How he got so strong. Out of love, he spilled the secret His strength came from his hair. With his head upon her lap while sleeping, she made a servant shave his head. When he awoke, he was still brave But was no longer strong. The Philistines gouged out his eyes And he became their slave. On the porch of Dagon's temple They dragged him to be mocked. But his hair grew long in prison And his strength was in those locks. Dear God, dear God, did Samson pray Make me strong enough To crash this heathen temple down. I have my chance today. He pushed against two pillars On his left and on his right. His prayer was answered, the temple crashed. He killed them all that night. From all our Bible heroes We learn the words to pray. Please, God, give me the strength To do what must be done today.
