Samsung Bluray Fan NG Fix

My Samsung Blu-ray surround sound system malfunctioned for the second time, with the error message showing "Fan NG". After showing this message, the entire system would shut off completely. This seems to be a common issue. This is not a software issue, but a hardware issue. I took out the first fan, and it was no longer working. I was able to purchase a new fan and install it, which resolved all of the problems. This is how you do it.

Thank you, Daniel. I was able to take my fan out, oil it with Q20, turn it by the hand for a few minutes (to get the oil to penetrate the fan mechanism) and now the original fan works just fine. What a relief!

My tests have shown that "Fan NG" is rarely due to a defective fan! Rather, its cheap connector is responsible for this, as it loses contact with the pin on the motherboard over time and due to temperature fluctuations. This is especially noticeable with the blue cable, which transmits the signal of the fan control (or not, then see Fan NG). Here you can unplug the connector from the motherboard, clip the metal pins out of the connector with a fine slotted screwdriver and use a small pair of pliers to bend the very cheap metal back together a bit tighter so that it ultimately closes tighter around the pins of the motherboard again. Very simple solution to an insanely common problem.... Optionally, you could of course solder a standard fan connector on the motherboard and replace the fan accordingly, then should be even longer peace.

This sounds about right. pwm signals are so finicky when the system likes to have specific rpm reported back that are'nt occurring due to bad contact or lack of lubricant

Thanks to the comments of others I cleaned the fan with compressed air and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol paying attention to the alcohol entering the fan. This worked for me, the problem was resolved. Another satisfied customer of this video.Thanks so much.!!! Life is better if you share it.

Thanks Daniel. I took out my fan, cleared the dust and now it is working again as usual. The only problem was that I needed to do some delicate and patient adjustment on the fan position to avoid a disturbing vibration sound... some 10 minutes also. No idea where the weird vibration came from but the best way I could think of is to avoid it rather than tampering anything else. You save my day, bro 👍👍👍 My problem has been for the past 6 months. Hardly can find a technician willing to take the case, and so after watching your video, I decided to take it into my own lucky hands 🤣

Thank you for posting this! Like others commented, I took the fan out (thanks to the video) and blew it out with compressed air and now the error is gone. Been 1 week, if it fails again I will order the replacement fan.

Another thing you can do is drill a few holes in the plastic above where the heat sinks are. If Samsung would have just put a few small vents on top, it likely wouldn't even need a fan.

Cleaned the original fan with Electronics cleaner even though the unit had maybe 20 movies on it. But that's seemed to work. Double check amazon for the part I just ordered. As long as they ship what's in the picture Its a direct fit. No need to have to mess with soldering or stripping wires. " Samsung SMGHTH6500WM/ZA FAN-DC BRUSHLESS MOTOR". Thanks for the Video. I had a feeling it was a simple fix. Thanks to Samsung for at least letting you know where to start with the fan NG message. I fixed this for my father in law. I had a feeling it was common since the Unit had so little hours on it. Its a Samsung UBD-M7500

Thanks for the great video which is very helpful. I did as some others did. Took the fan out and cleaned it with compressed air and cotton buds. It worked. I've ordered a replacement from China for £5 - - - just in case!!

You can just cut the blue wire of the FAN. This will avoid the use of the PWM control. Worked for me (Samsung HT-4505).

@@johnluke5478 Maybe the color is not the same. You will need a multimeter to check de voltages on the board. Probably will be VCC (12V), GND, Sense and PWM. If you remove the PWM the cooler will rotate at maximum.

You could just cut the blue wire off and solder a resistor on red or yellow wire to turn down the speed fan, simple fix for about 30 cent's (for resistors)

You don't need to replace the fan. Just open up the lid and remove the cord which connect the touch buttons from the front.

Thanks I will try this. I first noticed it when volume turned high I would hear the fan then see fan Ng. I assumed it said fanning meaning it's cooling it down. Now it's stop it come on for 20 seconds then fann NG. Then auto off. 15 seconds later. I'm researching the fan for replacement. Can you also share you fixes success. I will also get back. Mine is blu ray 5.1 sound system. HT F5550
