I love my G80SD. Fantastic monitor!!!! Fast and snappy OS but it's a bit convoluted and bloated for my tastes. That's probably the only negative.. but, I love the actual smart features (I didn't buy the monitor for them, but now that I have them I actually love it). Switching between console and PC, HDR turning on/off on its own, fantastic image... good for producvity as well. Love being able to control my monitor with my phone. Speakers are loud.. I can easily play PS5 through its speakers, but keep my PC audio playing through my PC speakers and watch on second monitor.. so I can watch and listen to two sources as once, etc.. Plus they gave me a free $300 to buy this monitor lol

@@occasus7964 Yeah, I know that's the one iffy area. I haven't used my $300 gift card yet but I'm considering using a portion of that to buy a third party warranty from Geek Squad or something. That could also be an effective strategy, although it def feels a bit lame to spend the gift card for a better warranty than Samsung's.. We don't know if Samsung's new burn-in protection tech will make a difference, but all I can do right now is hope for the best that they solved burn-in lol Here's hoping

Hi everyone, I bought this monitor yesterday and as I am a real user, I would like to share my short experience regarding my 4 hours experience with samsung g80sd yesterday. There are positives and negatives of this monitor. I compared all the features with my 42 lg c2 which is 2 generation before of lg c series. Brightness: its hard to say that it is brighter than c2 because it depends on the scene changes and sometimes you feel c2 is brighter and sometimes you feel g80sd is brighter. Overall both are similar but samsung handling brightness better in dark parts that you can see more details bright without loosing colors. Black levels: Since both has similar technology but some differences, overall both gives you very good experience but sometimes you feel g80sd gives you grey shade of black because of matt coating and it disturb me sometimes but overall not that much. Since I am playing in dark room mostly its not an issue but when you have lights it become more grey. But again, this is small things not a big minus. Colors: I should admit that g80sd get win here with damm good colors. No further comment. Software: There are some points that you should consider on samsung is menü bar doesnt go away in a short time from the screen without pushing back button! Why! ? To me its annoying. Since both has similar smart feature c2 get win here. Using c2 is much easier. Only with one button you can reach game optimizer menu, its 2 more steps for samsung to reach that. Also after creating fine tune adjustments on samsung for each game mode, there is no easy way to choose and change game mode, you should do 2 more steps than lg c2! Sharpness: Clearly samsung is sharper than lg c2. But its not a day and night. I prefer samsung here, but again 1300€ in my country! Doesnt worth to me. Even I can go with c4 and most probably its better than c2 and closer to samsung sharpness but I know that mostly its because screen size. Samsung get win here. Black crushes: In dark scenes, switching from light to dark scenes there is a cloudy appreance on the scenes on every tv or monitor. For such scenes sometimes you can see square on the edge of the cloudy visual when scene running. This is ruining your picture quality and this is not hapening for every screen. On lg c2 I have it and I didnt succeed to reduce it. Bıt samsung doing a good job here and it is more smooth and sharpy. Samsung get win here. Maybe I called the issue wrong as black crushes but this is what happens. Summurizing; If this monitor would have been on price range like 600-700-800 € I could keep it. But with this price range(1300€) only for better colors, no way to keep. Over c2 it is more colorfull and sharper but not bright as expected and blacks are not good as c2 overall. I like colors, it really make difference but doesnt worth the price. Maybe I can spend 100€ or 200€ more over c2 for this but not 600/700€ more, no way. I will return it, I hope I can 😒

thank you for good review. i myself previous user of c2 55 and now c4 42. c2 55 for one year was great testing ground to realize that 55 is too much for everyday work). new c4 42 is absolutely good, i was hoping that samsung g8 32 would be interesting choice to test, but it looks like it's not really). i wouldnt mind to trade 16/9 to little bit wider and lower screen, but unfortunately there is not much choice out there. before c2 55 i had lg 34 2560x1080. i found out that 34 for 21/9 is not enough height for my work, i was really hoping for good 38 or even bigger 21/9 screens, but it very niche product and i guess companies dont want to produce screens like that. that's why i returned to 16/9
@gogosumerАй бұрын
@@nikolaypetrov9789 actually, if it was cheaper than what it is now than maybe it would be worthy to go with g80sd instead of c2 42. 800$ is good price to get but over 1000$ is not worthy.

One of the hdmi ports has arc support so you can hook it up to your soundbar/receiver if it has hdmi input. Not sure which formats are supported. Furthermore it has has bluetooth 5.2 amd wifi for wireless display capabilities so pretty sure you can hook up bluetooth headphones. Maybe Joelster can verify?.. this thing is basically a smart ....monitor...or ...tv...without the tv part..or something. 😅
@theextraordinarypants49095 ай бұрын
So, as hab mentioned, yes there is ARC on HDMI port 1, so, if that works for you, you can route sound out to the receiver. Also, Bluetooth headphones are an option for the monitor. It is a "smart TV" (much to my chagrin). Actually, it seems like it wants to pair with everything it can. It looks like I can pair external Bluetooth speakers or something like an Alexa voice assistant (unless I'm misunderstanding the option and it's a voice assistant built only into the monitor? I do not think so, though.) You can pair a keyboard and mouse to it as well, no computer needed. The audio out of the monitor also has an "AI sound processing" thingie which sounds like it's Automatic EQ, but less sophisticated than what receivers can do. Oh, right, and if on the network, it looks like you can send video from other devices like a phone. I'm not certain if it needs to be a Samsung phone. Looks like they're trying to do something like Apple does. Another point of note, but you can calibrate the monitor certain Samsung and Apple phones too. Which reminds me that I need to try that as I'm not finding good settings.

I would like to hear about your settings. I am having trouble finding settings that are accurate and beautiful. It's been set up for about a day and I'm rethinking that the special matte Samsung coating was "good enough" versus glossy. Also, are you using Ambient lighting? I have it off now, but yesterday, I'm not sure if it was certain settings or the ambient "Core" lighting on the back of the monitor, but I found a substantial amount of heat coming out and off of this thing. Reminded me of my plasma TV that I just replaced and a lot more heat was coming from the Samsung G80SD than the large LG OLED TV that replaced the plasma! Last initial thoughts: there is more plastic on this thing than I thought. One reason I purchased it was due to the metal construction. It is actually thicker than I thought too. Replacing a Dell Ultrasharp, which yes, was thicker, made me realize this monitor isn't as thin as I expected.

@neverenoughguitars82765 ай бұрын
@@ChaosBG_ I actually figured it out, you have to have it in game mode otherwise you can only use 120hz max. Now it's looking amazing! Love the HDR on this thing, but the menus and smart functions are really confusing.

if by flicker you mean VRR flicker then no but as long as your frame times are stable it really shouldnt be a big problem. I've only seen it a couple times and it was in specific games in specific locations. If you play a really stuttery game and it has a lot of dark scenes thats like worst case scenario

So what made you choose this particular monitor? And not the LG competitor for example? Asking for a friend (ohh wait, that's me 🙂)
@miltona8915 ай бұрын
I’m stuck between the same two. I already have the 45. Ultra wide and it’s amazing. I may try this one because of the smart features but I don’t like that I can hook my soundbar to it.
@cyberneticorganism.5 ай бұрын
@@miltona891 I'm using a 4K IPS screen now, but it's only 60Hz while i play shooters. So it can use an upgrade. Was also looking at Mini LED which is not bad either, but it's about the same price as OLED. I'm more of an LG guy, am not a fan of Samsung firmware / software. But i hate that the LG screen has a fan, and i do like the Samsung design more i think. The Samsung has a remote and the LG not if i am correct, it's al pro's and con's against each other, very difficult. The LG can go brighter in some scenes, red that the coating on the Samsung is a tiny bit better.. etc.
@miltona8915 ай бұрын
@@cyberneticorganism.yeah I agree with you. All my tvs in my house are Lg G3 and G4. The monitor I use now is LG ultra wide 45in, I’m just a little stuck if I should go for the Samsung or not. I keep watching videos to hope one video make my choice easier.
@cyberneticorganism.5 ай бұрын
@@miltona891 Yeah more review vids will see the daylight soon, as the Samsung just has been released. I was also looking at the TCL 27R83U (Micro LED) which is a good competitor. It doesn't have the drawbacks of OLED, and is better for HDR content. But OLED is still better in colorwise and it has no blooming (and a bit little faster).
@cyberneticorganism.5 ай бұрын
Also found 2 other pro / cons: The Samsung has a separate power brick where the LG has a build in one, and the LG has no remote where the Samsung has one included (i do prefer the remote).

It is weird that this samsung monitor did not break and lasted the whole review!!, i purchased the 49'' qd oled and failed after few hours, amazon replaced the monitor and the second one failed too after few days.
