Problem is you have to have straight talk unlock it, nobody else does. And that means 12 months of uninterrupted service w/ them before they will do that. This phone, although $50 more is unlockable through various online services.

I love this phone review. Thank--You. In terms of emulation, I think a portable phone should be used for portable gaming (GB, GBC, GBA, PSP, etc) at native resolution at full speed...anything beyond native resolution is gravy...and this device appears to do so for 99% of the games. Fantastic!

Though it must be said, outside of the US it may be worth plopping down another 50 for a Redmi Note 7, if you're looking for a daily driver. A lot more value for money, and all that. The absolute cheapest offerings usually aren't the best in terms of price/performance.

FM Radio... you did not say either way if with the wifi chipset, it might be an option, and not mentioned if it is factory disabled ( not even wired to be able to be connected ). Some of us still like lto listen to FM radio with out using data while traveling. The trend is that manufacturers are " cheaping out " on alot of the wifi/BT+FM chips by not connecting them.

I've always been a Moto G guy. And this is very similar in spec to my last phone, the Moto G3 (I managed to snatch a VERY cheap Moto G5s in a sale)which my mum uses to this day and she's still delighted with it. If for some reason it broke tomorrow, this would be a perfect choice to replace it. Or if I fancy a separate phone to run Retroarch on the go. Thanks for the review.

Same! I still use my Moto G 3 because it's a great DS / GBA / PSP emu device (in addition to being a perfectly serviceable phone). It has a very bright IPS screen with great viewing angles. Also, 720p is easy to push at high framerates, and is a good match to play classic game systems at integer video scales without lots of letterboxing. Also, it's light, water-resistant. Super bit of kit!

As an S10 owner, that is a crazy AnTuTu score for what you're paying! S10 on average (according to AnTuTu) gets 361,621, which is ~402 points/USD ($899 128 gig base model). A10e according to your test gets ~895 points/USD! Sure, it won't hold a candle to my SD 855 & 8 gigs of RAM, but you have to take into consideration just how little you're paying for such a great little device. BTW - love your videos. Long time lurker. Continue what you're doing, and you'll go far :)

Great phone, love the usb and audio on the one side, handy to charge phone and listen to audio in truck, the phone stays in cup holder, I can't really see why you would want to pay more, this phone does it all and it's a main brand, I think people who spend a 1000 dollars on a phone have money to burn. Picked one of these up yesterday. Very pleased with it. It was confusing to the Walmart people for me to buy a phone and not need service. No matter! I use it for WiFi only and play Pokemon Go. Plays very very well. Battery life is excellent -- spent about two+ hours driving and visiting parks and lots and absolutely no issues. Gonna buy a few more.

A10 is international based it go on 3g and even 2g so you won't be able to stay connected in 4G all the time terrible it was not designed for US market. Nevertheless if you want 1 I can sell you one for $80

Probably not. Boost mobile is a CDMA network. It may not have GSM network support.

This video made my decision clear between this and the Moto G7 Power. My current ASUS Zenfone V won't charge properly (I left it charging on a wall outlet while I was at work for 6.5 hours (and it was off while charging) and it only went up 5%. Not to mention tons of weird issues like a very dark rear camera in less than sunlight (along with Snapchat trying to overcompensate by blowing the brightness so extreme you can't even see anything lol) and Apps just resetting at random times to the beginning of whatever screen they're on (Snapchat will blank out any chat screen I'm in, delete any video or photo I've taken, and/or go to the main camera screen from wherever I am in the app if that unlucky time arises). Is this maybe a memory leak or something? I never knew a respected company like ASUS could flub a phone so badly in that way. Can't wait to get the A10e though!

I really miss the old ETAPrime that did all kinds of totorials. Theres so many features and options in may different softwares that could have how to videos for. Retropie gets old making videos for I know but with so many features there's still plenty of how to videos to get done. This channel seems to have taken a turn into product reviews more than how to and announcement videos. I used to come to this channel for the latest news in the emulation world. We haven't even gotten a news update on the new official retropie update and how it has fixed alit of issues. I still like this channel but how many times can you really watch a video about budget phones that are basically all sporting the same internal parts. Seems like these videos are just fluff in-between the hot to videos which are as of lately getting far and few between. Maybe you can start a channel just for reviews and another for how to videos. I'm sure this comment will get tons of hate but isn't that part of the beauty of comments to give the channel maker our opinion?

He used to make videos Every time retropie had a update and would do a walk-through on what's new and what's been fixed. I wish he would do more videos on building diy projects. Odroid xu4 is another board that really gets alot of attention these days I just wish the new "The Retro Arena" build for the xu4 was a little more user friendly when it comes to loading games. I can't get USB transfer to work and wifi is slow. It's not like the old ORA image that you just make a USB drive with retropie folder and it requires more steps and I can't find a good video that helps. That could be a good idea for a video. Have you thought about maybe doing some videos featuring original hardware such as doing a how to HDMI different systems.

I got the A10 for my son not too long ago and already told my wife when our Pixel phones eventually die there is no damn reason to by $800+ replacements when phones like this do everything we want/use on a daily basis. If these level of phones were out even a few years ago I would not have gotten flagship phones.

Don’t buy boost mobile guys . They lock the wifi if you don’t get their plan and theres no way to root/ unlock the device. Also you will be getting notifications nonstop to activate it. I say it from my own experience after buying a boost mobile phone as a recommendation from this channel.

I don't know why you were surprised by good responsiveness with "only" 2gb RAM. You'd expect it. The main hit is in Android having to close down more background apps, so they'll have to reload if you switch to them rather than being instantly available (with preserved state).

Interestingly, I have an iPhone 6 that is 5 years old, and the Geekbench scores are 1582 and 2776. My Antutu score is 92,434 So I'm assuming the performance will be equal to, or greater than this A10e. I think I'll just keep using it until it completely dies.

I bought this phone and liked it alot, but then all of a sudden I keep getting this message from boost saying I need to activate the phone and it locked me out of my wifi!!! I didn't want a service plan through boost or sprint, I just wanted to use my home wifi. Like I said worked great for 2 months but then...sent it back to Walmart lol.

No, it's locked to Boost Mobile. Though, I'm not sure it's even compatible with GSM carriers as Boost Mobile is a CDMA carrier.

You know, when you do synthetic benchmarks you should put some comparison numbers from other devices, cause I don't think most people remembers the numbers from previous benchs and they become meaningless scores. I don't think you should put every benchmark you done but at least numbers from a expensive phone, a midrange and a cheap one, so one can see where it roughly stands.
