lol... Looking into this phone because I've had an iphone 4s since release. I'm a cheap f***er who has been refusing to upgrade because of those insane prices, and I wasn't aware "budget smartphones" were a thing (I don't really keep up with cellphone-world). And seeing you complain about how "slow" it is to unlock... Made me lol a bit ;) I'm sure everyone is aware of how slow old phones become over time. This phone looks to unlock instantly compared to the shit I'm running around with.

the biggest pro that draws me to this phone is the size. It's well under 15cm in length and it just handles so much better with one hand. I think the size is underrated these days. Many people still want rather compact handsets.

A lot of the flaws/cons mentioned in this review are totally acceptable, its not a mid or high end phone, and was never made to be. Anyone expecting certain features on budget phones, are fooling themselves. Nice review never the less, has helped me make my mind up out of a few phones i was looking at for my Niece.

I'm watching this video on my samsung A40, and to anybody wondering, switching from an iOS phone to this Android was super easy. I used to have an iPhone 5C and it wasnt the easiest to run. But the A40 is so much easier to download apps, and running them is so much quicker. The only problem I'd point out is the problem with it feeling at tiny bit thin and plasticky in my hand. Probably just used to having a thick iPhone case though. And for its price I would so reccomend this phone. Good day.

Even with a (much) higher price tag, there is just a couple of alternatives, which are the Mi 9 SE and the Samsung S10e. So yes, it's good to see that the sub-6-inch-display market is expanding.

My mom wanted a new phone for around the 200€-250€ mark. I recommended to her the A40 and the Huawei P smart+ 2019. She valued the better camera over type-C usb and went with the Huawei phone. She does seem very pleased and I am glad we have a veriety of products to choose from even at the lower price.

Well, with the last update patch there is slow motion recording. But the quality is not that great. There is a lot of noise. For an everyday user like me, not into hard gaming or other resource consuming activities , it is a great phone. Display is clear and sharp and the colors are very vivid and awesome. Battery life is good too . The thing that I like a lot is that it is small compared to other smartphones in this price range . They tend to make huge smarts nowadays soon we will need a "smart bag" to carry our smartphones .. this one fits just great in my pocket and feels great in the hands .

The A50 is an amazing phone. A little slower to load apps and other low level tasks vs Sd660 and 675 phones, but in gaming the extra two performance cores on 10nm process just knock it out of the park. Also, the cameras are very good (not quite as good as Note 7, but close) oh and the A50 has NFC. Why xiaomi still only put NFC in the flagships is beyond me!

Can you change the resolution on this phone and if so, how does it affect the battery life? My current phone is Galaxy J5 2017 and it has an amazing battery life, I'm looking to upgreat to Galaxy A40, due to its compact size, but I'm worried about the battery life. According to GSM Arena, it has 73 Hours battery endurance score, while the Galaxy J5 2017 has 97 hours battery endurance score. The difference in battery life for talking and web browsing is not much, but video playback is where the A40 falls behind by a lot, so I'm curious to know if you can lower the resolution and if that improves the battery life

I have the A40 and it's actually pretty good. The rear camera isn't great, but the selfie camera is good. I haven't had any lag at all. The screen is genuinely great. Especially when watching films that have a dark overtone. For example Lord of The Rings and Harry Potter type films look great due to the amoled technology. Call quality is great. The loud speaker is crap though. Also, the build quality feel a bit cheap. However, doesn't feel bad. And having a flat screen is good. Curves screens are annoying. So overall I'd give the A40 a 7/10.

My first "Smart" phone was a Nokia N73.. but as "indestructible" the old Nokia's were.. on the N73, the buttons started falling off.. so i bought my first "real" Smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S, i still have it, it still functions. It was followd up by the Galaxy S-Advanced (which now sits in my car for Navigation, I then got a Galaxy A3 (dropped it, cracked the screen, but it still works, and recently i got the A40.. it has been Samsung all the way for me. The A40 is not too big, as i hate big phones..It just performs! Sound quality is good, screen is great, it's fast, has loads of storage space, All in all.. a great performer in a small package..

Its Made out of plastic, so pretty much hard to scratch. Even though I still recommend to use a cover because it can easily drop on the screen.

It's plastic and it's level 3 on scale of hardness and tempered glass comes at 6-7. So yea it's pretty easy to scratch it. Just put a transparent jelly case, you can still show your back panel reflection and screen will be safe.
