@Teej - I agree, you nailed it Teej. Companies spend all this effort marketing their flagship phones. I just don't feel like spending more than about $500 on a new phone, anything above that is ridiculous. Besides, after reading many reviews, some of the expensive phones are not reliable. Pixel's flagship phones just seem to have way too many problems. I sure as hell am not going to ever own an iphone, apple makes great stuff, but IOS is like driving with blinders on. I wish Motorola were still a viable contender, but since Lenovo took over that company, Motorolenovo has gone to crap. Samsung definitely makes some good midrange phones. Might be coming back to Samsung in the future.

yeah youre right, at ;east for most regular users. If people insist on wanting to play crappy mobile games (hey thats just my opinion, just buy a cheaper phone + a switch already !) then they prob need an expensive device, for youtube, browsing, photos, email, social media then this price range is all you need. I can see problems ahead for the phone manufacturers as i find it hard to see what innovations they can bring which cant be replicated on a cheaper device going forward. Granted certain types will always want the latest and greatest.

Thank you for an honest review. Not everyone cares about the top of line specs or how tech snobs (*cough Verge cough*) feel about budget-friendly phones. I'm shopping for my mom, and she's in the budget phone camp. As she should be; she doesn't care for super fast processors as she only uses a few key apps and of course talking and texting apps. Got this phone last week for about 300usd (converted) but it was the 6gb/128gb version. It multi tasks just fine. Fingerprint reader works better if you just use the 3 fingerprint save slots on just 1 finger and increase touch sensitivity of the screen in the settings. Also the version we got in our market includes a clear case inside the box from samsung and a screen protector pre-installed. I assume all of them have these in all markets.

I purchased this camera in June and have been very satisfied with it. It did crash on me and required a factory reset. I lost a little data, mostly photos on it at that time. Then I I had trouble with it freezing. Samsung replaced it. The new one is working fine. Previously, I had the Note 4 so this was a big step up for me. I did not want to spend a thousand dollars on a new phone. I did not need all the fancy stuff on the Note 10 or Galaxy 10s. This phone gives me everything I need. The camera isn't the best. Nothing will replace my canon. Battery life is fantastic. I have had it last 50 hrs but then I don't always use it that much. When we travel and I am using it more and have to charge it more frequently. You gave an excellent review and were spot on with everything.

@@malekyounes35 More RAM will mean more headroom for multitasking between apps and running background applications. Generally, 4GB is still good but Samsung's One UI is fairly RAM heavy, and Samsung is, I'd say just above average when it comes to the software side of RAM management. Not as good as how Apple or Google manage memory for tasks and apps, but satisfactory. Single applications like PUBG running with a few apps in the background should be fine with 4GB of RAM, but if your brother is multitasking heavily, then I'd suggest 6GB.

I have this phone and I like it so far. The display is beautiful and the camera is better than a lot of more expensive devices. You can take photos and then enlarge them with no pixelation, and, this is at the lower setting of 3/4 resolution.

Pixel 3a user here, I love it. I don't miss anything really. It's fast enough for everything I do, great camera, great screen, and nice battery life. Thinking about future improvements that I think would make it perfect are: expandable storage, some sort of water resistance, and perhaps smaller bezels, but I'm not too concerned about that last one.

I buy a phone and have it for years. I'm on a galaxy S3. It's a phone, calculator, keeps tabs on the calendar, plays music...everything else is extra bells and whistles to me. Only thing is, I want to mess around with AR, and my phone can't handle it. So I'm in the process of buying this phone and upgrading. Hopefully I won't have the urge to upgrade again for at least 5-10years...hopefully. All the reviews I've seen so far, it's about the camera and screen size. Main reason that i got this phone is that it does everything well, there isnt a real thing that its BAD at, its currently at android 9 pie and can run PUBG Mobile at max settings without any major lag, if you can spend the extra and get the A70 since it has 25w fast charging(the A50 has 15w) and a bigger screen, more ram and bigger battery.

With hi-end phones quickly approaching $1,000 and beyond, it only makes sense a phone that cost nearly $300 would be pretty decent... Mid-range phones are $6-700 plus, it only makes sense $600 phones are decent... Even phones in the $100-$200 are very capable now, it’s hardly surprising that a $300 phone is gonna be good.

Got one last night for $20.00. Working and not a scratch. Plenty fast. I have a S10 and the fractions of a second longer it takes for things to load is not an issue at all. Also, if you game. It plays Fortnite, COD and othet graphics intensive games great.

It is around 220-250e, great battery, solid camera, 6gb ram, 128gb...nice performance for it's price ...and it has a gorilla glass 5. I can even play games if I want to. For now my eye is on that one, I am not in a hurry, I do not buy a phone everyday.

I picked up a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s last year for about $500. It was a flagship back then and still is an amazing phone. And has no notch! I'd just buy an other one if it were to die or I were to break it. It's around $350 now I think. I don't see the point of paying on the order of $1000 for a phone these days.

I like the phone and the way I worked around the fingerprint sensor problem is to register you're finger multiple times. Then it's much more reliable.

Here in Croatia these A series phones are a clear step up from recent years but there is little sense in buying anything other then Xiaomi phones since you get a way better phone at the same price. Do Xiaomi phones cost more in the US or they are not officially available so you have to import them or something?

Xiaomi doesn't officially sell in the US, and many good budget phones don't have full US bands for coverage. If you live in popular areas it's fine, but anywhere rural is a crapshoot

Fantastic phone, bought it a few months ago. Amazing display, great battery life, good camera and speakers, 3.5mm jack, only downside is the fingerprint sensor which is just okay, but hey, it's in THE SCREEN.

I bought this phone last night to replace my LG G6 that has been having a lot of issues. I couldn't buy a S10e since we already brought my wife a Iphone XR a few months ago and I couldn't justify spending another $750 on a phone (we have Verizon). So far, I like it. The fingerprint scanner could be better but the screen is fantastic, and everything seems to be running nice and smooth.

You can do wireless charging if you buy a wireless charging adaptor. So you can't say are missing out , entirely.....

Face unlock work better for me than finger print . The finger printing is horrible but I’m glad it can be turned off ! Though the phone holds a good charge and it does what it suppose to .

Not getting the latest updates fast is great. Every time my phones update they get slower. I use the EXACT same apps as from the start, chrome, youtube, gmail, skype, and whatsapp. Thats pretty much all I use and the phones gets slower and slower.

I switched from an S7 and I grabbed the A50 and a Galaxy 46mm smartwatch for tap and pay with watch only to realize tangerine banking only works with phone and watch only works with credit cards in Canada atm. The phone seems faster with much better battery life than my aging S7. But phone still only goes half day with medium use.

Both my younger brother and father got this phone about a month ago. Originally I was annoyed that their noob asses would just get a new phone without asking for advice.... But I was VERY surprised and impressed with their A50s. If I needed a new phone I'd probably get it myself to.

thanks made me happy that i made the right purchase i mean this phone is bigger than i need my current phone is a galaxy j3 2016 and it has been through a lot the only reason i'm getting a new phone is the battery a few days ago i noticed the case was loose i thought that the case was the problem but when i removed it i saw a pregnant battery more than 3 times the size and the heaviest app i use is a dating sim so i think the a50 will suffice

oh yea and the storage only became a problem like 10 times where i had installed some social media apps but i don't use them so with the 256G SD card i am not going to run out of space for the next 10 years i just hope samsung stops looking in the wrong direction

Just get mi 9t, a bit smaller, better cpu sd730 which is better than sd835, no notch display, 48mp sony imx582, hires audio, front and back gorilla glass 5 and ufs 2.0 storage instead of slow emmc.

The best cheap phone is the $200 iphone 6S plus! Its always been great, now its also cheap. I have a mountain sized pile of dead droid phones...mid to high end...and two iphones that still work perfectly (6 and 6S plus). The 6 is getting a bit slow, but the 6S performance is perfectly adequate even today.
