Exynos 990 is quite disappointing but I still bought one because I still prefer One UI (I know it's weird for some) over other UIs. The quality of the screen also got me to buy my S20+ even though I can't use 120Hz while on 2K. But that's a good idea for those who can boycott Samsung. Exynos countries are getting less for the same price.

Thanks for this update on the Exynos comparison! For me the Samsung S20 Ultra has the best overall package for 2020, including great camera and exchangeable storage cards. Still with the Exynos in it, it's not a good deal. It’s like buying a 2020 smartphone with a 2019 processor. And for that decision I will still boycott Samsung, as long as they do not make their hardware equally good for all of their customers.

I ve been using the galaxy S20+ exynos version for about a month now and personally I haven't come across any lag when it comes to heavy tasks as gaming, the battery life easily lasts a day(60hz/1440p) and the temperature remains pretty stable. I think in real life the differences between the two models are too small to be noticeable, even if having the same model across the board would be ideal 🙃

But like i said in a different video concerning this exact topic: "It is quite clear to everyone (including the top ppl of Samsung) that Snapdragon is a better SoC in every way, simply superior to Exynos. But, there won't be any changes, not in terms of giving Snapdragons to the international market - no way. Believe me, this will not happen, ever! Samsung would loose a LOT of money if it did, so... Like i said, no way! Sammy knows that SD is better in general, but big differences are seen mostly in niche benchmarks like video encoding/decoding, 3D benchmarking and so on... I mean, what percentage of ppl do that kind of stuff on their phone? Probbably like 1-2% of all users. Other diferences are pretty small for an average person to notice (unfortunatelly) and not a lot of ppl watch these kinds of tech videos where they could learn that Samsung is cheating on them... Tom, you are guilty that I bought the OnePlus 8 Pro, but there is a huge difference in battery life compared to my older S10+ (Exynos). My OnePlus lasts for 1 1/2 to 2 days while the S10+ lasts for nearly one day. Standby is the biggest issue. Thanks for your recommendation. 🙂

@@davidn.2555 Depends on, how quick you want/need to switch. The 8 Pro is great. Speaker, Camera and one hand mode is slightly better on the S10+. Everything else is similar or better on the 8 Pro. I don't need the 865+ chipset, the 865 is soooo fast. But the best is the Standby. Going to bed with 24% left is no problem at all. 20 to 21% is still left in the morning.

The problem is how will it perform in 1-2 years time? The higher temps were significant and heat kills, plus JerryRig found the Exynos version has no copper heat sink like the Snapdragon teardown version. Though that seemed to only make a few degrees difference so the real problem is the Exynos is poor. Already secondhand values of the S20 range have fallen dramatically and my carrier is trying to sell me an S20 at £200 off with £200 free gifts! Poor sales and low demand tell the true story that the s20 and N20 Exynos are not good phones at the price. If you do not mind being sold second, even third rate products then that is your prerogative, but the reality is if this was Apple the YT would be up in arms!

I actually considered switching from my iPhone XS to the Note 20 Ultra as its been about 5 years since I last had an android phone and I thought it might be good to give it another try now that it has matured but after hearing about the Exynos being so much slower and using more power I changed my mind. The iPhone XS (2 years old) is 37% faster in single core speeds and identical in multicore speeds. This is unacceptable for a phone that is brand new and supposed to be the latest and greatest. The fact that it is also the same SOC as last years note 10 makes it worse. They cant recycle chips and expect people to pay premium prices. Samsung needs to pick up their game.

International shipping could be not the main issue in getting Snapdragon version, btw. As the US has a kinda different GSM/LTE bands, so for certain countries (EU as well) you could face a problems with internet or connection, bear this in mind.

I recently switched to Apple about a month back. Have been a Samsung user since the MM-A920. S8+ was my last Samsung phone. I am based out of an Exynos region. Removal of the Headphone jack, underwhelming Exynos processors, late/non existent Android upgrades all meant that Samsung had just about lost it's differentiating factor in the premium Smartphone segment compared to the only other vendor in the similar price and value proposition. The move to Apple was pretty much the only option. I use a Mac for work. So moving was just seamless.

Regarding the frame rate drop and in-game performance, it's no way subtle in long gaming sessions . Try running pubg for around 1hour+ ( which is an average session ) and that's when the difference kicks in . On my exynos model , the game starts to freeze , frame drops become really frequent and the device becomes uncomfortably hot . Comparing that to several forums , the snapdragon doesn't throttle, performing great . Cheers !

Hi Tom, I love the Note 20 ultra. But when we're paying the same for a Exynos instead of a snapdragon, I'd prefer the snapdragon with less storage. Storage is cheap with SD card. Also why the bloody hell don't we have a vapour chamber cooled phone like the snapdragon one. Curious. Did you go to battery settings and Change both phones to high performance mode? These ship "optimized" and 95% if users will never know their cpu is running at 70% because of this. I don't see the "performance mode" notification on the top of your screen.

One thing you need to realize... The screen on time in the battery setting is confusing and maybe wrong. If you download a battery monitor app, the data on there tells a different number than the Samsung one.

Its not confusing the samsung one dosent restart the screen on time when you plug the charger thats the only difference i dont know why they did that on android 9 if you would to connect the charger it would reset the SoT time.

Snapdragon model has oversharpened photos with less immersive shadows. For me on that case I prefer the Exynos model. IDK I just prefer photos like the exyons 990 Note 20 Ultra. A couple of months ago I was using a Xiaomi Mi 8 with a snapdragon 845. (Btw I love taking photos a lot). The mi 8 had the same style of oversharpness and lightened shadows. I first thought that was Xiaomi's problem, then later on I compared it to other phones with 845/855/855+ phones most brands like Xiaomi, Samsung etc.. they all had same problem. Long story short, I prefer better photos for a tiny bit reduced gaming performance.

After 30 mins of gaming. A light game too, it starts frame locking at 30-40 fps and it wasn't even hot 😡. My S20 Ultra is really a disappointment. It can't even run Beat Blade at max graphics! What the hell??

I have both versions and been comparing side by side for 3 days. They are both set up identically and used the same apps etc. Despite the Snapdragon still "learning usage patterns" there is no comparison between the two for battery life with the Snapdragon way out in the lead and I am talking about hours not minutes. The Exynos also does some very bazaar things including struggling with Samsung Wireless chargers in my cars. Running Waze on both phones the Exynos will hold the same battery level and not increase at all. The Snapdragon marches ahead charging away until full. Why? There are many other differences including a 5G "off button" on the pull down menu, none exist in the Exynos version. I'm convinced there are other problems but I'm not going to invest the amount of money in a phone where the battery life is quite frankly shocking. Samsung are taking it back (they have been excellent btw) and I'll keep the Snapdragon thank you very much.

I would like to say after 12 days of usage i differ from what I said 3 days ago. Gaming is very smooth now, i used it on high performance mode and its good now, and battery is fine too im getting around 6 to 7 hrs of screen on time now. My opinions are changing as days pass im loving the overall samsung experience, yes the S-pen is too good. Screen is huge and very vibrant. 120hz very smooth. Call quality and cameras are excellent

For all that I have read, seen and researched, this I can tell you talking about de Note 20 Ultra... The SM-986U / UI (USA & Puerto Rico unlocked) Snapdragon does not only reach to the USA market but also Korea SM-986N, Canada SM-986W or China, Taiwan and Hong Kong with the SM-9860 version, by the way, the latter I think is the only one that is not compatible with e-SIM so you have the option of Dual SIM or Single SIM + SD card but not Dual SIM + SD card. In a few markets they will have 4G and 5G version, such as Australia and Russia. The Ultra 4G version SM-985F has 8Gb of RAM instead of 12Gb for 5G variant and it will be the only one in some markets sucha as Africa, Serbia, Ukraine and most of Latin American countries. The version that reaches more countries is the Exynos 990 SM-986B / C / D / J, almost all of Europe, South Africa, Brazil, New Zeland, Australia and much of Asia including India. Except for the USA, Puerto Rico and Canada market with 128Gb of base storage, all other countries globally have 256Gb storage base. FInally, depending on the country, the package may or may not include a screen protector and/or AKG earphones and/or a free transparent silicone case. Therefore, the countries that seem to benefit the most from Samsung are Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Specifically, the version that I have imported to Spain is the SM-9860ZKHTGY from Hong Kong with the SD865+ , 256Gb of storage, 12Gb of RAM, 5G and the three accesories mentioned above. In all markets there have been similar pre-purchase campaigns.

I bought S10 lite which comes with SD855 instead of S20+ Really happy with the decision.. my dad is having s20 ultra and I can see a real difference in gaming performance although the battery life is better on S20ultra

The biggest issue for myself in the UK is that I'm buying a S20 Ultra or Note 20 Ultra to have the best smartphone money can buy. At £1200 I want the best of the best with zero compromises. The fact that Samsung can't offer that and other brands can with lower price tags, it's really off-putting for me. 2 hours SOT is a huge deal, especially when you consider that these flagship phones have relatively poor battery life anyway. As far as screen on time is concerned, I regularly get 6.5 to 7 hours on my Exynos version. At the end of the day I always have at least 20% left. My Bluetooth is always on as I use buds live and use S pen a lot. Also I haven't experienced the overheating issue even after watching videos or playing games for more than an hour.

the only way to beat snapdragon is overclock the exynos..i has try overclock my galaxy s8 exynos and test benchmark ..the result is same with galaxy s9 snapdragon version...in benchmark test, you need cooler or some ice to reduce or get stable temperature to avoid over heat or battery damage...trust me...you must try it !!!

Then say to your subscribers Qualcomm is the way to go just so they can go to samsung and say look at all the reviews we Qualcomm are clearly better. Stop using Exynos and use our chips instead. Just an update. I've actually bought a mystic black 865+ note 20 ultra here in the u.k. 256gb rom for £886.99, not bad at all. If I had to import one from the u.s or Hong Kong it would have cost me about £1250 after import charge and v.a.t! Bought a nice samsung hard case with stand too to go with it. Can anyone recommend a good screen protector?
