Personally I prefer the look and build of the Note 4 plus you get the options of a removable battery and SD support. I feel like Samsung doesn't understand the needs and wants of their Note users. It is fine to have a unibody design with the S line but note users are a different beast.

Hey Floss, Great first impression. Have to say that I'm disappointed with Samsung for what they did to the Note line up this year. I've been waiting 2 years for this, only to be let down by the omissions of removable battery, no expandable storage, and especially no I blaster (which I frequently use). I really would like to upgrade from my Note 3. I guess the only thing that would convince me to upgrade, is the compatibility/support for external storage support (e.g. Sandisk Ultra OTG). When you're doing the full review, can you please check if the Note 5 can support OTG storage? I can probably forgive Samsung for no expandable storage, if they allow for external storage. Will miss the IR blaster though. Thanks!

I'm glad that you mentioned how you rock your phones without cases at certain times. Every day when I get to work I take my case off my 6 Plus because I love the feel of the phone. When I leave work, go to the gym etc I put a case back on it. Seems weird to some people but to me it makes perfect sense.

Agree 100% with the Lollipop update on Note 4. Overheating, Auto reboots, LAG LAG LAG, reboot when trying to place calls, and so on. I'm going to wait on the Nexus 2015 line before deciding on an upgrade from Note 4 to Note 5, 6 Edge Plus, or Nexus 2015 line. Awesome unboxing, my dude. Props.

This phone was a humongous disappointment, I use all the features that Samsung removed. My battery dies on my Note 4 in about 6 hours since I use it heavily, now there's no way to replace the battery. My 32GB SD Card is full of movies to entertain my kids. I have 3 kids running around the house, having a remote control on my phone is the best thing that happened to smartphones. For all these reasons I won't be upgrading to this phone. Samsung killed the Galaxy lineup in one quick Swipe. They said they took months designing this phone, yet it's a clone of the S6 just with an S-Pen. Why couldn't they give us this build quality with a real leather backing this time, not taking any of our features that we power users need. Well Floss, I'm hanging up my armor and moving to Motorola, will miss that S-Pen. #GoodbyeSammy #ExSamsungKnight

Venceslau Antonio Domingos Indeed man, I'm about to trade in my Note Edge for a Note 4. It's cheaper and my cellphone bill will go down. But as soon as I have those 400 dollars I'm jumping on the Moto X Pure. Getting a Kevlar Back and sticking a 128Gb SD card on it. I also don't have to worry about the constant lag that I put up with for years with touchwiz since Moto X runs stock Android with added features. I gotta say, all I will miss will be the amoled screen.

How did you get these so early?? I will get the Note 5 for the performance mostly. Even with that retail mode crap the 5 is SO much faster than the 4. Also, the S Pen features are a really handy upgrade because the Note 4 didn't bring to many new features in my opinion. I miss the removable battery/SD card slot, but this is still a damn good phone.

Honestly, I'm very disappointed with the note 5, I can't believe that they took away everything I loved about the note series, this note 5 almost looks exactly like an iPhone 6 plus, I guess I'm just going to stay with my note edge, which to me is the best Samsung phone now, I'll just wait till the note 6 comes out and hopefully they will come back to what made Samsung "Samsung"

I have the Note 4 and I have force closes on apps now and it seems slower. I am happy they decided to make a note 5. I personally love Samsung products. I will wait for your real review and wait for many other reviews before I jump the gun. But so far it looks good.

I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison with the Galaxy Note 4 regarding how fast apps open and close how fast the internet browser is how fast downloading something from the Play Store a side by side to see if its worth upgrading if things don't open and close and run smoother than the Galaxy Note 4 then it wouldn't be worth upgrading from me

Floss. Keep up the good work! I'm tryin to decide whether or not the floss factor on the s6 edge plus really outweigh the usefulness and productivity of the pen. I had a note 3 but lost it and havent been on a smartphone in a year. I went to buy the 64gb at tmobile but they didn't have it and was playin with the s6 edge +. When this jawn came out the box...it is clean! I started lookin at the pen like is this really that big of a deal? I used the pen on the 3 for notes and for signing pdfs and still would use it... you had em for like a week now. what your thoughts? how high has the floss factor been on the edge? thanks

I heard you mention the Note 4 problems a couple of times but I didn't know what you meant. Since you expanded the problems in this video I gotta tell you none of those things happened to my Sprint Note 4. Battery is maybe 5% worse but it's smoother than ever. With that said the Note 5 build is making me jelly.

Y'all got to realize that as much as you and I love removable battery packs and expandable storage, those will soon be a thing of the past. Almost all phone manufacturers are already ditching the removable batteries, and most have ditched expandable storage. Not saying it's a good idea, just saying that it's a reality. Loved the Vid Floss, as always =D

I'm using the Galaxy Note 3 and I think it's the best out of all the note series phones. And I have 5.0 lollipop on it and it's 32 GB. And the specs are not too bad, it's really fast. I really love it :)

I think I will wait to see whether further software updates improve the condition of the note 4. Mine seems okay but force closes do occur rather frequently and memory management is really bad but everything else works fine. Getting about 5 hours of SOT so battery life is certainly not a complain. Honestly, it's the nature of the premature version of lollipop that's causing this. Even the nexus phones were messed up with 5.0.X.

It's true lollipop trashed my note edge. But I reformatted, (After backing everything up!) It fixed ask those issues of battery dying, camera crashes, etc. Glad I did because now I can seriously consider passing on note 5....

Floss... I upgraded my Note 4 with Lollipop and haven't had any issues other than the amount of RAM it uses. But I have heard people having app crashing issues.

these are straight facts L-pop has done this with the galaxy note edge as well....the laggs and all that has happened on my phone. Apps sometimes would tweak outta no where... and a 15% batt would hit zero outta no where it does happen. Not often but it does happen....i hope they fix that with the new specs.

coming from a big samsung fan and a note 4 user. the combination of no ir blaster, SD card slot, or removable battery and at the same time having a smaller battery than the note 4 makes me very hesitant to upgrade but I'll wait on some on reviews and then make a decision

Yea, My Note 4 after lollipop upgrade kept kicking my SIM card. I've had Sprint for almost 2 years now and honestly with my Note 3 I read alot about it kicking SIMs after update ....never had that but with the Note 4, I had to actually replace the original Note 4 I had and grab a new one.....now every once and a while it will kick the SIM and a quick reset seems to be the fix. I do have alot of force closes, just yesterday when attempting to comment on facebook with a Pic from camera roll .....my phone locked up for a good 10 minutes wouldnt even go into sleep mode ....was about to pull the battery when it rapid fire vibrated and my battery went from 93 to 47. Will definitely be grabbing a 5 solely because it doesnt have a SIM with Sprint unless I heard wrong, Thanks for the info Floss and bringing notice to issues that the guys at my Sprint store said they've never heard of.

Note 4 unlocked international version. Stock lollipop. No issues. Might switch brands for the next phone. Need that Micro SD slot. battery not as important. I'm using the Mophie power station xl.

biggest complaint about Samsung was the body type. too much plastic feel. now everyone has the metal body, and people complain that battery is gone and SD card is gone. I'll take a better build over battery and SD card any day. also I've never had an issue with lollipop. I love my note 5. great phone.

my note 4 is running Android 5.0.1 and it's fine. don't think I have the same update as I'm in the UK. It's fine at the moment. Won't be upgrading. still love my note 4. removable battery and SD card are essential for me. IR blaster not so much. The 5 is a beautiful though. Let's hope the 6 will incorporate the things we all love from 4 and 5.
