I just purchased this device last week from a seller on Amazon. It is new and unlocked. I upgraded from an S9+ that I've had since 2018. The display acts up sometimes, but I knew it was time to upgrade anyway. I am not rich, so I can not afford anything from the S20 line, so I chose the S10+. I paid $502 for the phone, and I had it in my hands about 4 days later. The S10+ is a beast. Great review, because I know there are lots more people out there like me who can not, or just do not want to, upgrade to the newer devices! You had me at the ending when you said, "No, it's not a good phone....." lol I was like, "WHATTT??" lol

I'm doing the 40 to 85 % charge for right now, but I'm still uncertain if that method really saves on the future of the battery. What are your thoughts on that?

Yes and No. It does help 'a bit' with long term battery health but if Samsung intended it to be a battery health improving feature for normal users they would also auto shut down the device when it reaches 15% charge since the battery is under just as much stress at < 15% as it is at > 85%. The 85% feature is intended for devices that stay plugged into power for long periods of time. That's the way I see it...

@@UdiShoots I understand. When I was using my S9+ daily, I had always charged it to 100%, but never let it get below 20%, and the battery seems to be just as good as day one. So I'm sure, in time, I'll start ignoring the 40 to 85% charging method lol. The battery in the S10+ is built to last a long time regardless, in my opinion. Thanks for the input!

Thanks man. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏾 Android 12 is the last upgrade for the S10 plus its not getting Android 13 but the iPhone X will get updated till iOS 18(2 years). So if you're fine with software on the Samsung you can go for it. Battery life is also better on the Samsung. Cameras are comparable. Both are great options but the Samsung S10 plus isn't getting anymore major android updates. At least that's what Samsung said

Great phone I've had it for two years already. The great thing about it is that it has a memory card too to save your videos and photos. Something the newer phone and more expensive phones don't do.

I also noted that the newer phones no longer have the expandable memory. The prices continue to go up and it seems they have fewer features. I really like having more memory to store and transfer data.

For $150 it's a great phone. But if you can spend a bit more, I'd recommend the Samsung Galaxy A53. It has good cameras and better battery than the s10 plus (considering the S10 plus is now 3 years old). And the Galaxy A53 will get up to 4 years of software updates. Till Android 16.

The hardware is still great but the software might become a problem. I don't think that this phone will get Android 13 and the security updates might also become an issue in two years. If you plan to keep the phone longer than two years, I would recommend something newer.

Cause of software updates. I'd say you should buy the Galaxy A53 instead. Samsung promised 4 years of software updates on that phone. BTW I am getting 6.5hrs screen on time on my S10 plus currently. I think that's pretty good! Since you're really concerned for battery life I don't think older flagships are for you. I'd recommend the Samsung Galaxy A53 instead. It's a bit more expensive but definitely worth it.

Yes the S20 plus is a better buy than the S10 plus. Better performance, better screen, better battery, better cameras and it has one more year of software updates. The S10 plus has better design in my opinion though! The S20 series has really boring design. It's a better phone though. But if you want that 4 years of software updates get the Samsung Galaxy A53.

Android 12 is the last update promised my Samsung. It may get Android 13. But chances are slim. However the iPhone XS Max will receive updates till 2024. Unless you need some Android features I'd say the iPhone is better for software support. Battery life is better on the S10 plus though! For social media apps on the s10 plus it's completely fine. I only had one issue with a Twitter update.... Twitter started to lag. But now it fine after the subsequent update. Not an issue. People do say social media apps are smother on iPhone but for me I can't tell the difference 😏

You can check on Jiji and use the price filter for less than ₦16000. It's only officially supported for one more year with security updates. Unless you can get it super cheap or just justing it as an extra device, I'd steer clear.

Thanks for watching! Midrange phones around the $250 price bracket barely gets any software updates. The ones that do are not close to being as good as the S10+... So buying the s10+ for that price is one of the best phone money can buy... And who knows Samsung might surprise us with another year of support 😁

Great video. Thanks! Convinces me it would be a really good choice. But Why s10+ rather than s10? I know...longer battery life, larger size, and dual selfie camera. But have heard complaints about the larger size... so I realize it can be a personal choice. But I have small hands and I'm thinking maybe I should just go ahead and get the S10. And thanks again for your video! Also wonder if anybody has any personal experience with a 12 GB Ram version of S10+. Can it help with video editing on mobile phone? Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer about s10 vs s10+.

If you're not comfortable with big phones then yes you should probably buy the S10... But as you rightly mentioned the S10 plus has the bigger battery and considering that these phones (the S10s) are 3 years old you'd probably want all the battery you can get!

I hadn't taken battery into consideration but you make the case that I need to. ( Will weigh w/ issue of size of camera to figure if less a problem than some reviewers claim ) But I'm also enthusiastic about your video because you validate the decision I've been reaching about Samsung S10 as good choice for 2022. It helps a lot to know that you use the S10 plus and are enthusiastic about it. You evidently really care deeply about photography and videos.
