Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Otterbox Defender Pro Review

I love Otterbox cases. The Defender Pro Series is excellent. I also like UAG, and Spigen cases for Samsung. I'm still rocking my S21 Ultra 5G with nt my Defender Pro from 2021. It's my work case. I'm a Facilities Technician and a Electro Mechanical Technician. A great video brother. Stay safe.

Spigen is great for protection without the bulkiness, but it's not perfect. After 2.5 years of use the glasscorner (on the back) of my phone still cracked, but maybe that's because I should've replaced the cover after a year of use or something.

I was a longtime buyer of Otterbox cases. The Defender Pro series used to come with a protective screen, which Otterbox discontinued with the Samsung Galaxy S21 (I think it was because of the rounded screen edges). They really need to include them again. I have the DP case for my Galaxy S21 Ultra. I'm considering upgrading to the S24 Ultra, and looking for a good case. The S21 Ultra DP case was not built for long-term use. The usb port cover eventually broke off, the back cover is peeling, and the belt clip/kickstand easily slips off my belt, and the kickstand no longer works, as the plastic part that attaches to the clasp wore down. BTW, I bought a new replacement holster, and the same thing happened in a very short time. It's good that Otterbox offers a lifetime warranty, as given the quality and lack of features of their cases, customers will need it. I just hope that they don't jerk customers around when it comes time for them to honor that warranty. I also hope that they've improved the quality of their DP cases since the S21 Ultra.

I used to use otterbox, but not since a long time now. I remember when they used to have the built-in plastic screen protectors, and if thats what you're talking about, thats one of the BIGGEST reasons I stopped using otterbox. Those plastic screenprotectors would trap dust underneath, scratch up easily, scratch the glass itself, and would prevent you from using a normal glass screenprotector.

@@September0930 I never experienced any of those issues, other than dust occasionally getting trapped underneath the screen. But all I had to do when that happened was to open the case and clean it out. But I have had glass protective screens break on me rather easily; something I've never experienced with the plastic otterbox case screens.

I personally don't want a screen protector on my s24u. The anti-reflective feature is golden.

Yeah i used to have one actually! I then started hating on how over time, the rubber on the back started to get loose so i took it off and now i rock caseless actually.

Despite not having the new s24 ultra galaxy as much as I wish I did, I wish they had an S-pen cover attached to the otterbox defender pro just in case the stylus was to fall out of the cell phone it would be blocked by the cover but maybe it'll come for the new defender pro along with the S25 ultra! 🙂

Good review bro i just purchased the galaxy s24 to replace the note 9 and the iphone 16 pro max to replace the iphone 7 plus on 11/27/24 but i can say the otterbox cases are worth it but im hearing mixed reviews about the otterbox for the iphone 16 plus

Thanks for the video on this case. Quick question for anyone who uses ESR: Do their screen protectors fit on screens if using the otterbox? I'm currently using their Privacy screen tempered glass and really like it, but their case I have gives 0 protection to the phone. Anyhow, stay safe out there, everyone. always a solid case. Only downside is when that rubber begins to sag above the charging port. Good review bro

I've found removing those flaps with an exacto knife keeps it snug a LOT longer

These are such great cases. I automatically buy one when I get a new phone. My only issues, is you can't charge through the case.

theoritically it must, I owned a similiar non-otterbox product and was able to use any glass screen protector

But for a little context, I'm 13 year's-old, I turn 14 at the end of this upcoming month, as soon as I get old enough to pay for my own cellphone📱I plan on getting a new cellular device, and by that time either the S25 and/or S26 ultra will be out and I'll go ahead and get one of those! I gotta start saving my money, though, 😎 💰 cause those cell phones cost somewhat well over $1,000.00 or so off of T-Mobile, which nevertheless just so happens to be the cell phone📱 provider I'm with! Or when I get old enough to work, I'll have the company I work for pay for it!

This is the weak point of this case. I have one on s22 ultra, and the corner at the S pen is much less protected and plastic shell only covers the front part. Of course I dropped it on this corner, the shell and my screen cracked. Frustrating they haven't improved on this design as I'm now looking for case for s24 ultra

Their warranty is great if they still make your case. I had a S20 Ultra that the case broke on my trusted Defender case. I called Otterbox and they informed me that they no longer made my case but offered me 15% off a case for my next phone. My phone was 3.5 years old. Oh btw, at the same time Otterbox was selling the case I needed on Amazon but told me that was a different department. Nothing they could do.

😎👍 Man, I want an s24 ultra galaxy myself. If only they weren't so freaking expensive, but the with the phone having a built-in stylus (AKA) also known as S-pen and it being IPx8 rated water resistant as having a fingerprint reader, and having a shiny shell casing, last but certainly not least having the "(AOD) Always on Display" feature where even if the screen is off you can still see what time it is, how could you not make the phone pricey! If I was old enough to pay for my own expenses with my own money 💰 and I could afford it, I would most certainly get ultra s24 along the otterbox defender pro phone case because those kinds of cases are gorgeous!

Surprisingly affordable to finance through spectrum mobile though, $40 for their highest service plan and finance the phone for $30 a month, gonna make the switch in about two weeks

@JacobTaylor-pp3nm I was paying $78 per month for t mobiles lowest plan which was named "essential" I just made the switch to spectrum and I'm paying basically the same amount but only $40 for the unlimited+ service which is the same service plan I was on with t mobile, and my new S24 Ultra is only $32 a month. So for a bit less than what I was paying T mobile,I'm getting way more. As far as what I paid for the phone for t mobile, I wasn't paying anything for the phone, I locked into a 2 year contract for a free OnePlus 8T as a new customer Sorry for the late reply, hope I helped!
