I love Samsung phones.. iv used a friends Htc one mini and an iphone and I can honestly say I would miss alk the extra stuff u get with Samsung and the removable battery is a deal breaker.. gotta have that removable battery.. don't know why anyone would complain about Touch Wiz...... Great channel.

Thanks for that. It's either an S5 or Note4 plus Gear fit upgrade for me September. Love the larger screen of my Note 2. That extra screen real estate is a deal sealer for me. I think the S5 with its fitness bias puts it ahead of the competition by a substantial margin.

I like how these come out every year predictably. In-between the s7 and s8 is where we're at now and I'm upgrading from an ipod touch 5g to this for half the price I spent on the ipod. And this was $650 only two years ago. Because they release a new phone every year. And this upgrade feels as radical as the previous one. Before the touch 5g I had a nano 5g. I'm very out of touch, but it makes for a stunning surprise when I catch up. I have never owned a phone and buying the unlocked, too. I've never seen a reason to purchase a phone when there's wifi and video and voice chatting for free. And even if there wasn't an option for it, I would never pay hundreds or thousands on a salary to have it at all.

I noticed the default camera settings is not at its highest setting of 16 megapixels. You have to manually set it to its highest setting. The S 4 does that also.

Your reviews are usually better than this. You failed to mention the ultra power saving mode, and that you can choose how you want the settings menu to look. You can have the new look, the old tw look from the note 3 or the classic list view. You can also disable my magazine right from the home screen. Sidenote, the Lumia 1020 is considered a top camera phone? Based on what?! It has a 41mp sensor yes, but you can't even view the images at their highest res unless you upload it to a computer! Locally on the phone its a 5mp shot. Like i said, your reviews are usually solid but you really dropped the ball on this one.

Those are trivial things compared to the rest of the phone... And the Lumia is still a Top Camera Phone... doesn't matter what the photos look like on the phone.

How are key features of a device trivial? And yes that does matter. The pic is 5mp unless you go through your computer first which defeats the purpose of having a better camera on a phone... why does a good camera matter if the pics are backed up to Dropbox, or uploaded to Facebook Instagram or twitter (etc) if the pic is 5mp instead of 41?

Spencer Dean A good camera matters, I put the 5MP on fbook and print the high res ones. Also, the 5MP ones are of a better quality and colour reproduction(which are kept), only the resolution is downgraded from the high res in order to weight less and be sharable with most social apps. A good camera is a must have when you go out at night too.

The reason for that is because every phone with snapdragon 800 or more and adreno 330 handles all the mobile games that are out on the market.

Great review as usual! I couldn't tell from the video but i hope they increased the field of view of the camera. I found the s4 field of view to be very narrow and restricting at times.

@ "ITpro91" I agree, although I have NO problem with the quality of this video because she does a great job! which is the most important thing, however "ITpro91" was respectful in the comment, and yes this quality is not what Lisa deserves. I'm watching this in a calibrated HP DreamColor LP2480zx which is a professional level monitor, connected to a GeForce GTX 780, in a High End Workstation, and Fiber Optic from Verizon. I'm watching this video at 1080p. And the quality of this video is not that good (NOT horrible by any means, but it could be better to match her knowledge). So it is NOT my monitor or computer or my internet connection. People saying that it looks fine for them, I respect their opinion but they don't know anything about Video Quality, no offense but anything looks good to them. In this day and age is fairly easy to upgrade your equipment, just get a better camera, or choose better setting when rendering your video prior to upload to KZbin! Saying to please upgrade her camera to improve the quality of her videos is not a mean thing, its Constructive Criticism! One of the ways to improve on what we do is reading comments and Constructive Criticism about our work. So Lisa please I hope you don't take it wrong and keep up your good work and thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Hi Lisa, I recently received a KitKat 4.4 update and got a nasty surprise when it turned out that Google has taken away the read/write ability from my downloaded apps to my external micro sdcard. So of course now I have to do everything regarding my files through the Samsung Galaxy S4 native file manager, which is abysmally inadequate. If there's one thing Google and Samsung could improve on is the file manager. I've been using fx file manager which is much more sophisticated but of course thanks to KitKat 4.4 it's now unable to function in the way it was intended. Do you know or have you heard anything about whether Lollypop 5.0 will give that option back to us? If they don't I don't see the point in upgrading to any new device until I absolutely have to. Could you possibly find out more information about the read/write to external sdcard omission and wether we can expect that to continue?

That's stabilization done via software rather than optical (hardware) stabilization. Optical is much more effective.

My friend got the Galaxy S5 and there are some odd things about it that neither of us like. That includes Kit Kat too. For example, in the app drawer, Samsung has taken away the option to view apps in an alphabetical list. Also, the camera seems to hiccup a bit between the time you press the shutter button and the time it takes the picture. As far as Kit Kat goes, why would they make the icons in the notification bar all white and boring? Doesn't make a lot of sense. I have a Note 3 and I love it. But these odd things, as well as the possibly impending chip that blocks the use of 3rd party accessories, might be enough to make me switch brands.

I become accustomed to touch ID in iphone 5s and I just rest my thumb there and it unlocks without jiggling my thumb. If only S5 can unlock with one hand. For now, I will keep my iphone 5s and Note 3 for now. Waiting for Note 4 with water resistance! It will be a beast!

You can teach it by sliding your thumb down even if turned sideways. Other KZbinrs have shown that this works fine. Not sure why she implied the only one handed way was to slide sideways thumb from left to right.

You can take pictures on the Galaxy S5 by pressing the volume + or - button on the side. I found this out on accident today while checking it out in the store, now weather this feature works under water, who knows...

You have to choose 1080p in the settings of the video on the lower right hand corner.

It might be because of KZbin restricting video playback quality. There are times, for me at least, where it's impossible to go over 720p on any video.

Looks like it is 1080i. So if you have the hd video scaled down you can see some strange interlace problems. But video quality is not really an issue here... content is very good. Solid review.
