What a phone this was. I only had mine 2 years because the S8 was the biggest leap forward in phones that I can remember - first ever phone to have a huge screen with tiny bezels.

I know this video is just SEO so you click the amazon links in the description, but the S6 is not "worthless". At the right price it is a great phone. I make custom ROMs for Exynos 7420 phones and they run Android 11, 12 and 13 fine, and many users of my ROM are happy with the experience of it, mostly thanks to the LineageOS developers. As long as you dont expect to run the newest games and emulators at max settings, it works fine for social media, calls, youtube, the basic stuff. Obviously if you buy a phone with the original battery it wont last long, that goes for any phone. But with a decent battery, it's fine. Plus you get cool features like the IR blaster and heart monitor that most other phones dont have now.

I saw someone at school with this phone, and that guy seemed to scroll on social media just fine. I think it's an okay phone. I'm more inclusive, so this would be the bare minimum. I heard that the battery life is bad, though. It's better than many "A" phones, though.

If you custom rom it with for example linage os on Android 14 you get 1. a much better Performance than on idk wich ui and Android it originally running 2. All Android 14 features Better overall Performance than the newest samsung a15,a25,.. Probaly worrse than a35 and up but idk .. This thing has wirelesscharging a55 not.

My Galaxy A3 2014 I'm still using in 2024 now .. I bought it brand new in 2014 and still i has great battery life. Performance isn't too bad either.

@@MEMELORDC This is funny because he was saying that the Samsung Galaxy S6 that he would recommend avoiding it like crazy. Kindof like back in 2020 when someone tested positive for COVID. I remember my roomate at the time had COVID and they sent him home. Then I came back to the doctor's office and as soon as I walked into the front door, they wanted to avoid me like crazy, just like I'm the Galaxy S6. Like as soon as I opened the front door, immediatly, the person at the front desk got up and backed away and told me to go home, thinking that I also had COVID. I don't know, 2020 was a crazy time.

This is just for me though. I think the LG V20 is a more worth it option because it has the most power user options like the Removable battery and SD card slot. This is maybe the the very last phone to include those, it still stands up today and yes thats my main phone. Typing it on my LG V20 also

I think if you don't want to spend too much money, probably the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Its a bit old but at least its still running the latest version of Android and will be getting one more software update. It also has more RAM than even the S24 Ultra.

At least I can say that for software support, the company who has the longest software support isn't Samsung nor Apple, but Microsoft. Microsoft supports their operating systems for at least 10 years and Windows XP was supported for over 12 years. Would be nice if Apple or Samsung had that kind of support.

I did see another KZbinr about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in 2024, still worth it? Although that phone at any moment could just magically explode. But at least for him, it didn't do anything crazy and he had it on the original firmware of Android 6.0.1 marshmallow. Although sadly, due to the recall, the note 7 had zero software support and the only "updates" that it did receive was to limit and then disable charging the battery altogether first limiting the battery to 60%, then the next "update" for the note 7 then limited the battery to 0% basically bricking the device. Other than that it got zero software updates.

Hmmmmm...I wanted a back up phone for when I travel. Ive left my daily in more than one Uber. So I wanted a smaller, classy looking 'dumb phone' that was cheap. I ended up getting an S6 in dark blue like this one and its been great! I miss the smaller phones that just slide in your pocket.

S6?? Nah, not even the top storage level. Not in 2024. At this point, if you really want an older Samsung ex-flagship, the lowest you should go is no lower than the S21 family. It's got Android 14+One UI 6, but that's most likely the last major OS update they get (and infrequent security patches next year, then nothing).

@@eylemuyavul3055 True that, but even that can only carry a device so far before things could happen and development dries up. So you're still forced to get something a little newer. A hard lesson I learned firsthand a few years back when development for the Galaxy S3 totally dried up. (The original S3 in the US got a custom ROM equivalent of Oreo/Android 8.0, but the LTE capable Triband variant of the S3 only got up to Nougat/Android 7.1 before folks just didn't develop for or maintain it anymore, having moved onto other devices.)
