I have had iPads since they came out. I found for less than the price of a cheap iPad pro, I could get the AT Tablet, a 512gb micro SD, 8gb 256gb memory and RAM. plus it links seamlessly with Samsung DEX connecting to my PC in my office allowing me to work as if in the office on DEX. I can send anything I have done on my phone to the Tab and visa-versa. The ONLY side by side where the iPad was better, was the screen resolution where it required fast refresh rate and on the Apple 2nd generation pen that appears to run slightly quicker. Otherwise, go Samsung, save money and have such flexibility.

Yeah... partially....For me personally though I LOVE the lightweight tablet. I like to hold tablets. Sometimes I use it when presenting in front of a crowd so I want to be able to clearly read things correctly and hold something lightweight. The Pixel Slate is 12" and is pretty heavy. Hi zack Im a student and im currently planning to replace my ipad 3 for a new tablet Im stuck between getting the galaxy tab S6 or the ipad pro (2018) Note: with the price of ipad pro i could get the samsung tabs6 along with the keyboard accessory I need a device which would last many years and allow me to work it on for school purpose Which do you recommend for me?
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think both will work great for what you need... The iPad pro will be slightly faster... But at the same time I didn't notice any lags or hiccups at all when using the Tab S6 so I don't think you will even notice that it's faster. With Google drive, which you can use for either the iPad or the Samsung, You can organize all of your files for school, and you can edit documents make spreadsheets or make PowerPoint presentations. You honestly just need something that's fast enough to take good notes, and I think both of these will do really great and then some. Android has more customization. iPhone puts all of your apps on your home screen. Android has a separate window for apps and then you can organize your home screens with whatever you want. I like that because I can put the things that matter to me most on my home screen and there's a ton of widgets that you can put on your home screens that you can't put on iPads. So customization is extremely important to me. iPads on the other hand, I would argue that their apps are a little more optimized for tablets. Some apps on Android tablets are stretched out phone apps, personally this never bothered me and I still think they look great anyway, But there is a larger percentage of apps on iPad that are built for tablets and not phones. In the end, mainly because I'm running Android digest, I choose the Tab S6. It is still extremely fast and the customization is vital to me. I find that Google drive is essential to me and even though it works on iPad too, it's more naturally built into Android. The Tab S6 is also more affordable. And it comes with Samsung DeX mode. While you still can't run Windows programs from Dex mode, .exe files, DeX mode gives you A way to use your tablet as a laptop, because DeX mode is almost another operating system. You have a desktop interface where you can resize all windows to help with productivity. So when you mix in the customization, DeX, and affordability I prefer the Tab S6. Some might prefer simplicity (a simple interface like iPads), speed (technically the iPad is faster), and app optimization. Those people should pick iPad. Finally, the Tab S6 keyboard cover has been a struggle for some people to keep on. The sticky suction cup part has been falling off for many. I made a video on how to apply the cover. And when done right I didn't have any issues...BUT when I took the cover off by and put it back on a few times to show it off for the video, it got worn down and started falling off. Samsung replaced it. Point being: There are plenty of cheap affordable Bluetooth keyboards. The Samsung cover is fantastic, but small. If you leave it on I don't think you will have issues, but it is something to be aware of. Check out that other customers on my channel

@AndroidDigest2 жыл бұрын
Hard to tell what you're describing in this comment. When you put the s pen very close to the screen they turn off touch with your fingers so you don't accidentally touch the screen with your finger. In certain drawing apps they will let you use your fingers to move around so your pen can be left for the drawing, and you can use your fingers to zoom in or move around. So it's hard to tell based on your comment if what you were experiencing was normal or not

Excellent review! Should I go for the 8GB RAM variant to get a more future proof tablet?
@AndroidDigest4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, RAM only comes into play when you have completely filled the RAM up. Even if you had 30 apps open, Android would automatically close a couple of apps to free up RAM. It takes a ton of tabs to fill up 6 GB of RAM. And benchmark tests were done on both and of course they tested virtually the same. Your average person won't notice the difference honestly in day to day use and your average person won't even use the 6 GB of RAM. There are specialized people who would want the 8 GB of RAM. But even as a tech obsessed guy I still went with the 6 GB model

Hey no problem. By the way, the Tab S6 is $550 right now (link in the description) If you want more of a mid range device with an s pen, the Tab S6 Lite is releasing in a couple of weeks, maybe even as early as 4 days from now (release date leaked on Amazon and got taken down). It will be around $400, a little above full hd resolution, 2060 x 1200 or something like that. S pen support, and it will have the same mid range processor as the Galaxy A50. Basically similar speeds to the Tab S5e with S Pen support. For an extra $150 you get the Tab S6, a faster processor, more RAM, and a better screen. Both are pretty good buys, just depends on how good of a tablet you want and how much you can spare

I'm looking for an android tablet which one do you recommend between the S6 or the s4
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
If you want the latest and greatest, the Tab S6. It's lighter. It's faster. The s pen is slightly better. But if you want the best deal, I think the biggest factor is price. Your average person would love the Tab S4 and the Tab S4 will be fast enough for most people. The s pen is still great.. accessories will be much cheaper too. So if you can find a Tab S4 for $400 new or maybe an open box S4 from Best Buy. Go for it. Assuming the first part of what I said isn't true. I think for most people they will get most of what they want in the Tab S4 and it's difficult for me to recommend spending $250 extra to get a faster tablet just because it's lighter. But if you want the best of the best the Tab S6 is still a great deal and worth it
@neverlookback12445 жыл бұрын
@@AndroidDigest I can get a mint fairly used tab s4 for 400 (256gb)and a brand new tab s6(256gb) for 570, the difference is only 170 and the S6 has more features and a bit faster I think I'll go for it, also heard it's only available in the wifi version.
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
@@neverlookback1244 if you can pretty much guarantee the mint condition model has barely been used and is still in warranty, maybe only a couple months old, etc then it might be worth it. Thanks for the tip! I did turn on closed captioning now. It should be turned on for all future videos. Most past videos have already updated, but this video might take a little time to update (maybe 24 hours) so check back in 24 hours!

Cant you use windows apps on dex?
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
Let me explain. You can use Microsoft Office, apps like Microsoft Word or Excel. But those are Android apps. I know Windows has a version as well, but you can't run the full featured Windows version of the program. A lot of programs are Windows programs that don't have an Android app alternative. I should mention that Microsoft Office apps aren't free, because to use them to edit on this tablet you need a Microsoft 365 subscription. Bottom line, this device can only use Android apps. Not Windows programs. Luckily there are a few programs that were made into Android apps too

Is the keyboard still functional when detached?
@Tahlsie20244 жыл бұрын
No, it must be connected to the tablet to work, if you want a keyboard you don't have to keep attatched I suggest a Logitech bluetooth keyboard.

whats the case you got for it??
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIXPhJepj651Y6M It is the keyboard case. It's pretty expensive ($180). I have the link in the description of the video I just linked above. It's great, as long as you carefully attach it right, it's like a suction cup type of thing, and you really press it on. The video above details it some. Also my full review here has a little part about the keyboard. (Check the description which is time-stamped)

Can i use this tab for study
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
It really depends what you're doing. It works great with web browsing. So anything you're studying through the internet on Google chrome will work just fine. You can also download ebooks, you can buy Kindle books, and other pdfs and digital books, they will all work great for this device. The tablet should also work with most college websites. Maybe not quite as good as a laptop but pretty close. I personally think it's great for studying. The screen and the display are fantastic. Great for studying and reading

Can this tablet can.be as longevity like a iPad?
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
It will get two years of big Android updates. So it should get Android 10 and Android 11. Even after that it will work great for a couple more years. So it won't have quite as many updates as an iPad but it will still work great

why not review the 8gb RAM model and show us the best android has to offer? Maybe a future video??
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
For two reasons: 1: I paid for this device with my own money. And I bought what I felt was the best value. 2: Benchmarks showed maybe a 3 to 5% difference (just a guess from seeing them) in performance. Not something people will notice in a review. If Samsung sent this out for free I'd be all over it. In a few weeks I plan to review the newest 8" Tab A that released in the US. And I hope to continue to review new Samsung products

@@AndroidDigest Thanks for the reply and the detailed video. Definitely better to hear from an owner than someone who just unboxed it and can't share the smaller details of usage like you have in this video. How do PDF text pages look in portrait view> I was worried that the aspect ratio might be a little narrow when viewing full pages in portrait. This tablet looks impressive. Thanks for sharing your experience.

@@phillippugh2161 awesome. If you give the serial number to samsung, or put it in on the website you could probably check to see the warranty information. I also recommend putting the tablet on a 100% white screen and seeing if there is any image burnt into the screen. Best Buy might be selling some display models as open box, and sometimes they get image burn. Most of the time they are just returns for no reason though and a super deal. So you should be good

I'm going to use this for school and it'll basically act as a phone if I get the 4G version as next year in Victoria Australia there's a bill that will take place to banning phones from primary and secondary school. Also I don't like WINDOWS my Surface Pro is useless to me.
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
Good thinking. If they are banning phones this is a way around it. If you have a newer Galaxy phone you can get text messages to this tablet. Or you can download an app like Pulse on your phone and tablet (it's $10 to own) and it works on any phone/tablet

This or surface pro 7?
@AndroidDigest5 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you do. If it's for basic entertainment purposes, I think the Tab S6 is much better. The screen is amazing, loud speakers, it comes with the s pen. So it's great for note taking, hulu, Netflix, Spotify, etc. And it's a good backup option for productivity. The Tab S6 also has a smaller screen so it should be much lighter. The Surface can run windows applications, while the Tab S6 can only run Android apps. So apps like Lightroom are missing a few features on Android that Windows will have. So if productivity is your main thing, the Surface will have a bigger keyboard, and will run full versions of certain programs that you may need. Samsung DeX is nice with the Tab S6 so it's still a good productivity tool, but it still has issues from time to time, so as long as your entertaininment first, I still say Tab S6. But screen size or productivity/full programs could sway you to Windows

I've had the device and the keyboard for about a week now. It's really amazing. I got the keyboard for free with the device and I was convinced that it would be a waste and end up sitting in my cupboard since I was planning on only using the pen. The pen and keyboard compliment each other really well. I use the pen when I need to scribble down someting quickly or like notes in class, draw diagrams, annotate PDFs or do math/physics. Other than that, it's all the keyboard. Especially for when I need to sit down and make proper studying notes. If you're gonna ditch paper, you need to actually take advantages of the tool and not just use it exactly the same as you normally would. I would highly recommend Notion for just about any work/information you need to deal with both personally and for work/college.
