Great tablet for basically everything. kzbin.infoUgkxLNmVocUk8tnSkwWIlYSNFzWRIaFTBuzS I bought it specifically for art, and that 4k screen is really fantastic for it! Also has LOUD audio, even tho the speakers aren't in necessarily prime locations it really projects!You do need to get a case for this bad boy IMMEDIATLY though as it doesn't come with one.Battery life is really good! Standby time us FANTASTIC. This guy can go about a week on standby and be just fine. The screen is massive so the longer you have the screen on, brightness especially, it will effect battery life. I am very happy with it though!One thing that I didn't consider is that since the screen resolution is so high, viewing ticktocks/ reading webtoons can be slightly blurry. There is no way to turn down resolution either, so it just be like that.Would still judge this bad boi at 10/10 for my first tablet. I've had it 3 months now and its not shown any evidence of "slowing down" or anything. Love it!

It's a lie that has been ironed into people's heads that Android is bad as a tablet. It's the developer's work to make them work (considering folding screens are almost tablets)...
@Tredenix5 жыл бұрын
Ironic that he points out this perception right as he shows the instagram app; there isn’t a tablet-specific version of it on either platform, so while the Tab S6 upscales the Android app to fit its screen, an iPad is reduced to emulating the iOS app in an iPhone-sized window, mini keyboard and all. This is proof that Android does app optimisation better, and the only reason iPad _seems_ better is because developers are being encouraged to make separate versions of their apps for the larger display. There’s nothing making it so that developers can’t do the same for Android tablets - it’s simply because of the small market share that they choose not to bother.
@Tredenix5 жыл бұрын

I'm a Windows power user. I get questions all the time from friends and family as to why I still have a large, very powerful desktop PC. Photo/video editing, AAA games, and massive multitasking are why, and I just love my mechanical keyboard for serious productivity work, too. I also have a MSI Stealth laptop that provides me close to all of the capability of my desktop in an on-the-go version. However, I love my Tab S6 with the official keyboard cover. I don't always need all the power and capability of my Windows machines, and when I just need to take care of some paperwork for work or emails, this thing is awesome. Using the LTE variety, prop it open with the keyboard cover, and fire up Dex and it's much more convenient than booting up my laptop, firing up a Wi-Fi hotspot or looking for Wi-Fi, and finding the larger space needed to use it. I actually think the trackpad on the keyboard cover for the Tab S6 is better than most found on a Windows laptop, too. I don't feel like I need a mouse when in Dex. The trackpad is there to take care of the functions i need it for, and I can still tap the screen for simpler and quicker actions on the tablet. It's a great all-rounder for replacing a Chromebook for the non-power users, but it also fits a great niche for power users, too.

@mr.yonosenada5 жыл бұрын
@@martinsauer1864 it just so happens that I have both. In all honestly, it really depends on what you're looking for and what ecosystem you are most comfortable with. I really love the S6 for consuming media like movies, videos and playing games. The graphics are amazing and the sound coming from the tablet is also great. However, for productivity such as typing essays, editing sound or videos and taking notes and sketching, I'd give it to the iPad Air (althoughthe S6 pen is so much better, the drawing apps are better on the iOS). The keyboards for both suck and are expensive. I'd recommend getting a third party keyboard case. Also, consider if you have an iPhone or an Android and how comfortable you are with the OS of each. OH and I do use a 256GB SD card for the S6, which is a cheaper option if space is a concern. Hopefully that helps!

@Piyush kumar ANIME Hi. I have both. Honestly, the S6 has an amazing high-resolution, super-bright screen. It is great for day-time viewing. However, it may be too bright in low-light settings -even if you can adjust the brightness and/or use the blue-light filtering. The Ipad Air has an adaptive screen setting that is very easy on the eyes. The resolution will not go past 1080p on KZbin and is not as bright during the day. As far as processing speed, they are comparable. I will say that the iPadOs experience may be just a little bit smoother than Android or Dex. It's a tough call for sure!

Excellent review, thanks. I was thinking of replacing my aging Macbook Pro and iPad (which is now completely) dead with a 2 in 1 device. Intrigued by the Tab S6, but unsure if it would tempt me to ditch the apple ecosystem I'm, at this point, so heavily invested in. DeX is super interesting though, if Samsung continue to develop this and get more app developers to optimise their apps it could be a killer bit of software in a few years. Until that time though, I'm tempted to look at the iPad Pro, or forgo having a tablet device entirely and get a Macbook Air (which when you add the keyboard is almost the same price as the iPad Pro).

The problem with this devices is that it's turning itself into a laptop, and there's not much differentiation with similar products like Surface. For example, the Dex multitasking system is just a laptop interface. What's different with iPad and iPadOS is it introduces a different multitasking interface system that does not rely on the idea of "windows on a screen", which would require you to have a mouse or some other pointing device. The iPadOS can be used comfortable without the pencil, for example, because multitasking can be handled completely by gestures. In fact, it can be more fun to flip through screens with your fingers. This is not a big slap against Samsung. Samsung has its own strategy, and it is very different from what the iPad is going after. From my perspective, if this device really works for someone then ... really ... they should just buy a two in one (similar to Surface or another Samsung product that is similar to Surface), or just buy a small form factor laptop. It seems like a "in between" device that doesn't have a clear enough role.
@bradavon5 жыл бұрын
True but there's a reason why windows on laptops are better than what iPad OS offers, they're better. So it's good Samsung has brought them to its tablet too.

They're copying Apple in saying tablets can be laptops. When the truth is both this and iPads make lousy laptop replacements. I agree on your Surface comment but Surface does make for a lousy tablet.
@KenoticMuse5 жыл бұрын
@@bradavon So far, its seems like a product can either be a "good tablet" or a "good laptop". Products that try to do both (like Surface and this product) tend to compromise, and they're not really good at neither. But maybe the compromise is good enough for some people. For example, I like Surface but I almost never use it as a tablet. There's room for both types of experience though. I code on my tablet sometimes for quick brainstorming or review, but I switch to my laptop when I need to pound out lots of code. No need to compromise with an in-between device unless you have budget constraints. Buy both a laptop and a tablet.
@bradavon5 жыл бұрын
@@KenoticMuse true. Sadly they're good at one or the other. It would be greatly helped if Apple and Samsung copied Microsoft's Surface keyboard. Both the iPad and Galaxy Tab keyboards terrible. Whereas a large reason why Surface Go/Pro is such a good laptop is because Microsoft nailed the keyboard. Imagine one with the Apple iPad keyboard. Urgh. The Galaxy tab is a good tablet and the Surface Go/Pro a good laptop. For me I mostly use my phone anyway, so only occasionally need to use my Surface Pro as a tablet (mainly movies). I also have an 8" tablet too, as 10" tablet and a Surface Pro is overkill.

A really worthwhile review. Your views are well thought out and presented in a non-biased way. I do not agree with all your assessments, however, and find some slightly nit-picky. For example I do not agree with you about the trackpad on the keyboard case. It should not be compared with that of a premium laptop. It should be compared to that of an iPad or Galaxy Tab S4, both of which do not exist. Outside the fact that it has no backlighting, it is the perfect companion to the Galaxy Tab S6. Also there is no need to make the plastic surface of the keyboard cover a negative, as it every bit as well finished as any I’ve seen. Outside of these few little nit-picks, I think your review is one of the best out there. It is unfortunate, as in every case, that this wonderful review draws comments from some pretty blinkered viewers, who have a gut feeling that your review can’t be correct. These are the moronic types who do not own a Galaxy Tab6, but can give you an expert opinion about how it is inferior to an iPad Pro or a Surface product. I fail to see how they even want to view a video about the Galaxy Tab S6, let alone comment about something they know very little about, or will ever want to.

My Surface 3 was smashed, I replaced with this and couldnt be happier, I am a former Apple user, neither a hater nor a fanboy, simply fed up with itunes and certain aspects of Apple software, Samsung and Apple are top tier on hardware so pick your poison, if you are leaning towards Android over IOS and dont need a laptop, this is your device. My use case is entertainment audio and visual, reading comics, note taking, writing and I'll say drawing, more rough sketches and plans, I'm no actual artist, I also need to read a lot of pdf's and while I enjoy e-ink devices, this is faster and can be used to edit them. My usage means a 2 in 1 is better for me than laptop, I've also paired it with a 8bitdo snes style bluetooth controller and no longer need my pc for retro gaming ... Overall, for the casual user or even those who neeed to do light work on the go I do not see why an Android tab, especially this one cannot fulfill your needs and show you usage scenarios you hadnt even considered. I went out on a limb going Android tab instead of a newer Surface, could not be happier that I did.

@hoyoungwon5 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks so much! That really means a lot haha. And I only used Premiere Rush to edit very few short clips that I shot with the Galaxy Tab S6 itself. I think it's definitely good enough for very simple edits, but if you're thinking of expanding your skills as a video editor, then you should only think of it as a starting point.

For middle school and high school (later), I'd say the Tab S6 can definitely work since you'll be using Office apps and a browser 99% of the time. It'll be cheaper than MacBook Air too, so I'd say go for it if you can get a discount somewhere!

Hey, I am planning on getting the tab s6 at Best Buy for Black Friday because about a week ago the gray 256 gigabyte version went on sale for $430. I am looking at their website and it says that there is a "Adapter Type C to 3.5" in the box, is this a typo? Or does the s6 that Best Buy is selling actually have a headphone dongle included?

This tablet went down in value for me when Samsung recently announced that they're pulling the plug on Linux on DeX: www.androidpolice.com/2019/10/18/samsungs-linux-on-dex-project-shuts-down-after-just-11-months/ They haven't added the Tab S6 to the list of supported devices yet, and I guess that'll never happen now.

i used samsung tab in the past, as an artist the problem is always performance impact (overtime), Lack of professional apps support/types of professional app available, and Spen that didnt quite hit the mark. All of these problem got fixed once i got to the ipad pro. At first moving files and file management was a hassle because of how closed the ios is. but after the recent update ipad pro has become more "open" then ever before. Unless all the 3 problems mentioned above are fixed on future samsung tablets i dont think ill be switching any time soon. As a phone to me android is superior, as a tablet.. not yet.

I'm hoping Samsung makes a Chrome OS version of the Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Book. If they do this sooner rather than later Samsung can beat iPad (and Samsung Android with Dex) in terms of desktop functionality and may inspire application developers to finally optimize their apps for tablet usage by finally having a killer tablet to optimize their apps for. If an 8" version of the Tab S6 existed, I'd probably get it today though since it's easier to work with in portrait mode and one of the reasons the Nexus Tablet was so popular, because it did a better job of presenting non-optimized applications, because it was essentially just a bigger phone screen in portrait mode. It also grinds my gears, that the latest versions of the 8 inch Tab A (both the regular and s pen versions) do not have Dex standard. It would have been a great Desktop supplement for email, the android version of Office 365 apps and the like. Instead it does not output to an external monitor via USB C at all, even in mirror mode. I'm guessing they left out that functionality to save money, but the 8 inch tablet space is severely lacking because of it. An iPad Mini 5 would have been a better purchase for me in that respect because it at least mirrors to an HDMI via dongle, though I have to deal with the stupid lightning port. Google also needs to consider making a "Desktop Mode" available for all future Android OS devices. It will be a way for Android OS to differentiate further from iOS, and give iPhone users a reason to switch to Android. Imagine connecting a future Google Pixel XL or One Plus to a USB C Hub and being able to use a mouse, keyboard and monitor, and having access to a full desktop google chrome browser with optimized multitasking windows. It would also make Dex obsolete or force samsung to rework its functionality so it does a much better job of being a "replacement desktop". Your Android OS phone has the potential to be a tablet/ultralight replacement to bang out quick emails or to do quick edits to a google doc or sheet. It almost boggles my mind that this isn't already a feature.

Why is there a dual lense on a tablet?? I really dont understand why we need super cameras, we just need one to skype. Id rather pay less and not have dual cameras. Im still on the fence between apple, this and the new surface x (it looks so freaking good). A thing i hate about android and windows is that they dont make full use of the pen. I want a tablet-laptop for uni, so i have something light to carry and can make cool notes with a pen. I really dont need heavy work, i just need to browse the internet, open pdf files and very important: higlight and take notes directly into the pdf. And also stuff like power point and word. And id like to resize windows easily. Is this too much to ask?

@rjl20014 жыл бұрын
@Ho Young Won Thanks, understand. UPDATE: I now see split screen browser windows is possible in DeX mode only. What threw me off is if using Chrome in full screen in DeX mode you don’t have the option of ‘open in other window’ when holding on a hyperlink or url. However, when you resize that same Chrome window so it’s not expanded to full screen, you will have then have the option to ‘open in other window’ when holding on a hyperlink or url. Chrome only allows two windows running in DeX mode at a time. Samsung Internet allows you to choose ‘open a new window’ from holding on a hyperlink or url, regardless of if it is running in full screen mode or not. Also, Samsung Internet allows more than two windows at once in DeX mode. So that is a nice feature to me, that would be even better if DeX mode supported running in portrait orientation instead of landscape only.

I really want this as the Surface Pro is the biggest joke I have ever got. I only use it to do basic stuff with using Microsoft apps when I can access it anywhere from my phone to other devices such as school desktops without any hassle. I also use it for searching up stuff but guess what a Tablet can do that too. Also there's no apps that I can use from my phone that's on the Surface or Windows in general. Also my Surface Pro freezes and lags. I've reset it and It's still slow. Also having the cameras at the back and that form factor of the Tab S6 won't make me look like a fool when taking photos of the whiteboard or documents in school. I'm planning to get this in a 4G version as it'll act as a phone too since next year in Victoria Australia there's a bill that will take place to banning phones from primary and secondary school. Also using Samsung devices doesn't really leave me an option to choose IPad since i haven't invested much in IOS where I have done so for a long time with Samsung. Also having that customization is great especially with the my files app. Thanks for this great thorough review. Keep up the great work.👌👏

Great Review. I got the TAB S6 when it was released (together with the Keyboard) and I really like it a lot. I managed to replace my Surface and the IPAD with it and after I did some researches i've managed to get EVERYTHING to work (it took a while and I needed to test a lot of apps) that I need when I am on the go, this includes even Photo and video editing. The biggest pain was the Keyboard as it didn't wanted to stick to the Tablet (well I did, but it wasn`t save), but beside of that I love how good ot feels to type on it... So i've glued it with some 3M tape to the tablet (I do not want to remove this cover anyway ever again), now its my only PC when I travel.
