Samsung DeX makes a huge difference nowadays. I'm using it more than my PC to be honest, because it's so simple to just plug your phone or tablet to a monitor and continue doing whatever you're doing. Personally, I'll be picking this tablet up for digital illustration and DeX mode, because its Wacom pen technology is way superior to the iPad Pro's; besides it's powerful enough to keep up with any ultrabook. I only wish Samsung made a 12 inch version, although this size is really portable and lightweight.

Just got mine March 31, 2021. I watched this video and many others before purchasing a wifi+gsm unlocked one for $399 on backmarket. It still runs great and you won't noticed a real big difference between this and the S7 performance wise. The screen is amazing. Plays all games on the maximum graphics settings smoothly still and videos look amazing. Highly recommend for media/gaming/comic reading. You can get them even cheaper than I did but I wanted to be able to slide any sim card into it. If you were hesitant because it is slightly older I would say go for it and you won't be disappointed!

Looks like the new TOP ANDROID TABLET. Your benchmarks sure prove it - 30% or more improvement across the board. Was concerned about the somewhat slow GPU, but your gaming performance appears to put that to rest. Also wondering if a less than optimized game could better be used for comparison as most high-end devices should have no trouble with current games - if you're interested in future comparision I'd suggest using World Of Steel: Tank Force but you'll need to run the game up to about 30,000 tanks killed. Once again the only competition in the Android field I can think of is from Huawei, but it is yet to be see if their Tablet M6 (or MediaPad M6) will make it to the western world. I'm already using a less than well known Chinese brand, Xiaomi, and it looking like Huawei's are becoming as hard to find information on. What a lose to tablet users, particularly as Huawei still support the 8-inch format.

You made a great point, in an alternate universe if Apple allowed third party apps to be sideloaded that device would be the gold standard. I'm still holding on to my Galaxy Tab S2... it has also replaced a laptop during trips, but way more limited than this S6. No DeX, SoC is pretty ancient by current standards, no fancy keyboard, single speaker, microUSB charging. But here's something that's a bit curious about it - it's still the lightest 9.7" tablet ever. Lighter than the S6. Of course, it has far less features than newer Galaxy Tab models, so of course it would be lighter... if you take away the extra camera module plus the extra 3 speakers the S6 would probably be lighter. But you know. It's great for what I actually use it for though. Reading articles and writting a few comments here and there, reading comics and manga, some KZbin watching. I'd consider getting an S6 if I was doing more than that, but for now it's not necessary. But I think things are gonna become more interesting now that a desktop mode is seemingly coming to Android 10 natively. With that, more devs will port their apps to work in desktop mode, which will in turn make Android more compatible to a desktop experience.

This is an awesome tablet. Quite frankly I'd put it up against any iPad that Apple has released (and I'm an Apple guy). The negative for me (aside from price) is the length of time Samsung typically supports their Android devices versus how long Apple typically supports their devices. There is just no comparison there. With that being said, if I'm looking to do emulation an Android device is the only way to go.

Thanks for another good video. I like your basic no-nonsense approach to giving a thorough examination of specs and performance. But, wow, this thing is so expensive! No way I'll be buying one. Even so, I was very happy to hear you say at the end there, that you'll be doing a review video on DEX with this device. What are the chances of doing one exclusively about Linux on DEX? It would be great to see that angle, since your DEX review on the Note 10, which uses the same processor, only looked at DEX on windows. Also, since this processor more or less foreshadows the SBCs we'll hopefully be seeing within a couple of years, I personally would love to see these things being pushed a little further, beyond the recreational/gaming/emulation tests. Maybe start testing the computational power with some gimp or cad/slicer or rendering tasks? Sort of like a "how will the higher end SBCs of the near future compare to the mid-range to upper-mid-range PCs of today" idea.

Love that tablet. It helped me at college with note taking; so versatile, reliable, and portable. My classmates were surprised when seeing how easy it was to keep my notes organized using One Note in the little tablet. I also remember them asking how they could take notes by hand on their iPads; which was not possible at the time.

@@davsdf1 it helped to keep me entertained during class in high school😂, after doing all my work of course. Sadly, it's sometimes painfully slow and has horrible battery life. Performance can be so bad that the KZbin app will lag on playing 720p video, freeze the entire tablet and eventually crash. It's done it's time.

When it comes to tablets these days, most use them for media consumption and many just want a 10 inch or larger tablet for thst purpose. @ZED Oh yeah its going to be amazing since I am going to get a m.2 nvme ssd for my boot drive and will get a 960gb ssd for storage, will be able to handle a lot of good emulators like even ps2 will run well. I might even get big box for it for my front end.

I have the S4 and for what I use it for, I don't really see the need to upgrade given the price of the S6. I'm a lightweight user of tablets. Just something to sit on the couch and watch some youtube videos, brows the web, email, Reddit, and Tik Tok. I don't think I push a tablet that hard. I do have the keyboard case for the Dex mode, but I don't use it as often as I thought I would. I'd love to get into video editing as I just was given a Go Pro as a gift, but I have no idea where to start. Someone below mentioned Power Director for Android, so I'll give that a shot on my S4. Hopefully it will run!

Love it I seen the tab s6 used as a phone also cool when at home then the outdoors smartwatches just need to get more powerful for on the go usages, wow I am watching every new smartwatch but so far because of cost I still will not be replacing my phone with a wach anytime soon, but I am sure one year there will be a watch to replace my phone so I can buy a huge tablet for use at home.

I don't play games and such on my tablets, so it all boils down to this. I use a tablet for media consumption, as well as creation... I too have an iphone, and the ipad compliments it so well it is astonishing... I'd never even consider this price for an android tablet... To each his own, but it seems to me that the ipad pro is far superior to this... looks nice, I'll admit, but wouldn't dream of it.

Is this still the best one with a pen? All my devices are samsung...but iv thought of switching to Apple just because of procreate...I love making digital art. I have a headache from trying to figure out which tablet to invest in. Currently I pay for ibispaint. In your opinion..is it worth getting the apple pencil and iPad for procreate? Is there a rival samsung tablet? Thanks in advance.
