Samsung Galaxy Watch - Notification Indicator Explanation and Fixes

I was having some trouble with the Galaxy Watch notification indicator. It was not showing up for some notifications or would disappear immediately and it was very frustrating. I was using this on my Galaxy Watch 46mm variant.
The watch face is MD151 and there is a black "case" around the watch face.
TL:DW - Turn off auto show content in notification settings in galaxy wear app.

My goodness. Doesn't look like Samsung ever improved notifications on their watches. The worst thing is that it only shows the last notification for each app. So if you get a bunch of whatsapps it only shows the last one. Is this still a problem?

Yep, you have to click on that "app" for notifications, then it opens them up in like a mini "menu" where you try to navigate to see all the other messages / notifications. Kinda silly.

Any idea what's wrong with it? Which phone are you paired with? Are you using the galaxy wear app?

@@N0Fumar Thanks for offering to help man! Well, I am using a galaxy watch 3 with a note 20 ultra, both on latest firmware. I don't know why, but WhatsApp notifications only vibrate half the time. I couldn't figure out a pattern for it.

Hmm... That's a bit odd. Shouldn't be having issues. Are you not getting notifications when the phone is unlocked and on? There is a toggle for that under the Galaxy wear app. Play around in there, look for settings for notifications for apps specific things and see what you can find. There may be something under just the general Android notifications section as well. No reason that that app should be working with it.

Hmm... I'll admit that's a bit odd. Have you power cycled both the phone and watch? Is it only for text messages or is it all notifications? Maybe turn off all notifications to the watch (in galaxy wearable app), let some notifications come in, then turn all notifications back on?

If you Amazon search "galaxy watch 46mm case" they make different colors. It's like a silicone rubber so it's easy to take on and off. Under $10 and makes it look nice

And how about if someone sends you two or three messages on whatsapp, can you read them all or only the last one?

@@Robbe1984 yes you can read them all. first, it will show the last message but there is a circle with the count of unread messages after you click the circle it will expand to show you all the messages received.

@@gilbertgk Because I had the frontier S3 and I returned it because it didn't work,could only read the very last message so I had to open the phone and check my telegram, whatsapp etc. I can't find a single video where anyone is showing that this works

You mean keep the dot there even if you scroll to the left and scroll back? Unfortunately no way to do that. I've emailed Samsung about it.

Only with Bluetooth my watch works. I'm taking off the watch line.

Is it possible to use the watch without the phone like i can recive the notifactions when im out and i dont have the phone with me

I think there is a way, yes. But the phone needs to be connected via wifi or data. I don't remember the name of the service, but it should have it. I seem to remember it being relatively limited though to just things like texts and calls. Otherwise it will track your workouts / walking without the phone and will sync it later
