Thanks! I turned on the auto optimisation, auto restart, adaptive power saving, turned off some gestures, edge panels and nearby device scanning. That should improve the battery life quite a bit!

Great tips! Deep sleeping apps are very useful for saving battery. The other thing that really helps is the automatic sync. I personally do not need my email apps and pretty much any other apps to sync since I just open up my email and refresh it anyhow. Unless you are someone that needs to see every single new email that comes into your inbox, it's best just to turn off sync. Another thing I turn off is "turn on wifi automatically", "intelligently select the best wifi", "scanning always available" and "passpoint". I forgot exactly what some of these are called but it's something like that in the WiFi settings. I was getting around 3h and 30m screen on time, or 16h of use on a full charge with everything on, but with just the above settings that I mentioned modified, I am now getting around 6h of screen on time, or around 22h of use on a full charge now, so it's definitely enough to last me through the day. Sure, with a another phone that has a larger battery, these settings will also decrease battery usage a lot as well, but at least this makes the Z Flip 3 a usable phone. I don't really like using 60hz because 120hz is so nice, but I'm sure this will save a lot of battery too. I guess if you're usually watching videos then you can use 60hz because you don't really get 120fps videos anyhow. I still leave the always on display on the outside screen, I tried turning it off but I actually did not notice a difference in battery usage at all. This tells me that the always on outer display doesn't use much battery, which is great!

@@JoseHernandez-zz6iv mine is dead at the end of a workday most days, but thats on a 85% charge though (there's a setting where it only charges to 85% to preserve longterm battery life)

So despite knowing battery isn't upto standards of my use case, I still went for Z Flip 3 (coming from iPhone 12) as iPhones doesn't excite me anymore, same old improvements with apple, a bit better camera here, slightly faster chip there. I'm honesty interested in the innovation which samsung is doing and R&D to fold the freakin glass. Lets see how it goes, it'll arrive next sunday as they are out of stock everywhere as demand have far exceeded samsung's expectations (atleast here in India). I'll still keep my iPhone 12 as a backup phone though!

If you have the standard iPhone 12 I think you will see that battery life is nearly identical. The iPhone will have better standby time but in terms of actual use they are very comparable.

​@@parthoomphy7214 it will drain fast in first or second week of usage, after that it reads and adapts your routine of daily usage. It will not be as good as candy bar phone, but you'll be fine if your not a heavy user (usually 4h~4:30h screen on time)

I came from iphone 12 to the flip 3 and The 1st week battery life was not great but now that it learned my usage patterns I can get about 10 about 10 to 11 hours before having the charge it up I'm not an extremely heavy user but for what I use it for that's not terrible to me at all and at 1st I was worried about the battery life but it's pretty good once it largely uses batteries Not as good as a candy bar style I agree but still good

I've been using dark wallpapers and dark mode for years. Remember, you can force dark mode on all of your apps, even the ones that don't support it. Just make sure you have developer options enabled. P.S. Did something tonight I didn't see coming...managed to pinch a finger opening my Flip 3....actually hurt a little. 😂

The battery is the only reason I haven't bought this yet. I'm a nurse so I work 13 hours a day and the horror stories had me thinking this phone would be dead by 4pm. I'm a light user when I'm working so I'm thinking it might be OK with all these adaptations. When I'm off I do have something on in the background most of the time. I'm not good with silence. Don't think it will hold up on that

Started using z flip 3 about 2 days ago. I think I've been too conscious about the battery life since that's what everyone warns and talks about. I was shocked when I realised battery drains pretty fast even though the phone is left alone for hours, I'm not really sure what setting or background activity I should turn off or anything else that I can do since android is so customisable. Some said give it a week or two, it'll be better after system learning battery usage. This is what I can rely on now.

Here's an update after 10 days of use. The battery is better than my previous phone, an iPhone x. You'll need to customize and turn off things that you don't really use that often, for me I put most of my apps on deep sleep and important apps that I use everyday to partial sleep. I also learned to use bixby routine which only allows location turns on for certain apps that really needs it such as navigation apps. I'm very happy about the battery now. My other concern now is how long the screen protector could last.

@@dontmindme9277 I've been using it for 14 days now. I'm rather a power user on some days, and some days I'm not at all. Here's the data shown in my battery setting after averaging out the usage time. A full charge will last about: 20h35m Average daily usage: 80% The screen on time I guess it's around 4-5 hours depending what kind of apps I use. So far, I haven't done any gaming yet, however keep in mind gaming consume a lot of battery. My first few days were painful because of the factory settings with full features. (I still have 120hz, always on display, and I record video 30 mins daily) Of course it isn't the best battery life in the industry, you'd buy this just because of the cool flip and compact size. The 15w charging is pretty fast to me cause my previous phone was iphone X which was very slow in charging. I normally charges it at around 30% and it takes not more than 1hr15mins which I'm pretty impressed given I haven't spoiled by the faster charging from other phones. One last thing, the battery tends to drains fast when it's fully charged from 100% drops to 80%. After that, it drops slower.

We often charge our phones once a day. I charge my ZFlip3 once a day. I don't see the difference. Maybe some are deliberately trying to burn out the battery. Is this phone for playing games? No. Is it for editing videos/photos all day long? No. It is a smartphone that can be used minimally when you want to. Never been more satisfied with a phone.

true most of these youtube battery drain tests are litterally stressing the phone the f out with constant screen on and constant usage of apps while leaving them in the background. It might just be me but i created some sort of thing of me keeping background apps closed everytime i have used a app and at the end of the day i still got 40+ % left on my phone. What people forget is that not everyone have the time to be on their phones constantly while being on work. But these test on youtube are made with a perspective of a media type person who works with such and have all the time to walked around with a lot of spare time. While most only have 45 minutes of break and in that break they use it for eating and talking to colleagues or having a business call. people should not take youtube test reviews litterally in their own perspective of usage since it might not be how their day to day life would be.

It's an android phone and learns your usage by time. Battery isn't horrible. The phone is pretty cool.
