Exactly! Especially when you need to take a quick picture of something, you can hold it firmly with one hand and double press the power button to open the camera. Also, if it were wider, then there'd be less reason to even use the inner display.

It feels like all of these big tech companies (not just Samsung) think that shoving AI into a product is sufficient to make everyone want to buy it, and like... maybe if the AI were good but the Samsung AI stuff is mediocre at best (Circle to Search is the only one I actually kind of use). Not to mention AI has existed long before this, it's generative AI that's the real hype right now and that's IMO the least impressive kind of AI out there!

We should start getting more comparisons to 2-3 year old models of tech products, because its when the majority of customers are going to upgrade anyways. When you have the resources to upgrade every year, more than likely, you will do it as soon as the simplest spec or hardware improvement gets your attention. Good on you for mentioning that people on a Fold 4 or older should definitely consider upgrading it they find the right deal. And no, this is not an excuse for Samsung. It's a truth that any smartphone user must accept. Manufacturers will make money anyway they can, but as simple as this upgrade is compared to the Fold 5, someone who's never owned a foldable is still getting an incredible top quality device with the Fold 6.

Only TWO things I want in a Fold: a normal-sized exterior screen so I don't have to unfold it for almost everything, and a built-in S-pen slot. I'm in the exact same situation. I have a fold 2 and I still feel this isn't that much of an upgrade from the 2. Waiting on the same improvements. Screen size bigger and spen in the phone. I'm also eyeing up the vivo pro and waiting to see what the mix fold 4 is saying

Well they have. Your Fold 2 outer screen is narrower than an iPhone mini. Since the Fold 4 it was about the mini size in width and now Fold 6 is quite a bit wider than the mini and not that far off a regular S24.

From Fold 2 to Fold 6 there are important improvements to say that the change is not justified. It's best to see and test the device in person and not cloud your judgment by what mostly tech KZbinrs say who aren't happy with anything.

And with a $1,100 trade in value in any condition for my cracked Fold 2 being worth $12, this is the time for me to pull the trigger and upgrade. This should hold me over for another 4 generations.

I'd recommend the One Plus Open personally. Its outside screen is basically the size of a regular iPhone 14. Does it get old? No. 95% of the time I use the outside screen. But that 5% of open use is so good for my work and showing photos to groups of people is a game changer at get togethers.

My problem with Samsung's Fold smartphones is that the aspect ratio of the display is simply not ergonomic. I had a Z Fold 4 on loan, but I couldn't get used to the handling. Maybe because I could only use it for a week. I would really like to test it for a longer period of time, but the price is just too high for just one test.

As for the pricing, it's worth remembering that Samsung plays funny buggers with pre-release specials and coupons and things. By way of example, I just ordered a Z Fold 6 + Galaxy Buds Pro3 here in Australia via the Samsung Education Store for ~$1700AUD after using a litany of coupons and trade in benefits that they're offering (which equates to only 900ish GBP). That's ~$300 less than I paid for a Z Fold 3 + Galaxy Buds Pro back in 2021. Anyone paying 1800 GBP (or the ~$2700AUD full price here) is a mug.

I used to have z fold for 3 years far so good... but had a bit of an issue with the inner screen on my last fold 5... a few pixels were showing on the screen and I thought it was due to game raging so I thought: "I need a regular phone" changed the screen which was covered but the next time was meant to cost 500$ for the inner screen. Swapped it just roughly a month ago for the samsung s24 ultra. The camera specs are amazing and yet on night I gotta say samsung has a lot to improve for night view as well as other phones it would be great to fix the pixeled backgrounds on night mode/ night photos. Another issue was when you trying to go 50MP or 200MP by times for aome reason it is hard to take a photo without maintaining a perfect still position without distorting the image which should also be fixed. For gaming the s24 ultra now is harder to use for me since it has been 3 years with folding.... the grap is totally 😢 I will give it half a year and see how it goes if still struggling with ganing I might change back to z fold 6 but not due to the upgrades but the grab. For people who likes gaming a fold phone would say its perfect it also gives you more vision of the map when you play 5vs5 games like LOL or Mobile Legends for example... so ifbyou into gaming and anime the z fold 5 is your cup of tea (or else a tablet which is much better honestly). If had to compare z fold 5 and s24 ultra... would say s24 ultra beats on performance durability while z fold 5 gives you snoother gaming and video experience ovbiously on a bigger screen. So its not about a winner is about what your preferences are when you using a mobile.

I've been debating this phone for the past few weeks since the leaks and finally got to check it out in a local T Mobile. It's not worth it. Every reviewer is saying that the screen is noticeably bigger in person, it's really not. Like there's a difference but I think it's placebo due to the square corners. @kfx3907 it's not for anyone. The form factor has a ton of potential. The competition is getting rid of crease, adding ultra fast charging, flagship cameras, wider front displays, bigger batteries with the thickness of a regular iPhone. Samsung isn't trying anymore. There's better options for a cheaper price from the competition. Samsung just has the best software however I'd argue the one plus open is close to exceeding Samsung. They can't even both to widen the front display to be a normal flagship phone aspect ratio and it's been 6 generations.

Luv it, luv it, luv it Fun fact: the fold6 matches the maximum brightness of the S24 U = 2600 nits. Which is an increase of 50% from the fold5 1800 nits. Again underrated

Considering swapping my flip 5 for this to try out this form factor. Wish more upgrades were packed in. Gonna be between this and the pixel fold 2 perhaps. Hard choice though.

My daughter had the fold 4 and within a year the inside screen had an issue where due to it being folded and unfolded half the screen had gone black like ink had leaked rendering it useless, I just don't think folding phones are robust enough yet to warrant buying one especially at the price they want.

I had a fold 4 before and even though specs wise it looks the same it is completely different. Same megapixels but way different lenses and quality of pictures has improved a lot especially with the 4 mp one. When not folded the outer screen has great aspect ratio now and can type really good and fast. Processor is great. When unfolded, you have 2 multitasking windows that are way larger and more usable. I really advise the ones that have a fold 4 to upgrade. Huge difference

My fold 4 has just stopped working when i fold it open. Such a shame got 6 months on contract using the small screen 😂😅

Not big enough improvements to upgrade from older models. No S Pen internal slot integrated, no titanium body, and the camera is incompetent compared to other devices with much better cameras. Z Fold 6 = gimmick when comparing imo.

In any case, I am convinced. last time i bought a phone was galaxy s22 ultra in 2022. brand new. and i have had it until now i want to buy z fold 6 i have never had a z fold phone before. but my s22 ultra is only 2 years old so i'll probably buy z fold after 3 years maybe. And z fold is being more expensive and not so many changing you will always get old funktions

I believe they only making a slight change on the outer screen because if they make the outer screen too big, it will affect the inner screen aspect ratio. While still keeping it small and compact. 😅

Samsung Z fold 3 owner here. Loved my Z fold 3, but hated hated hated the skinny candybar outter screen. Loathed it so much I never used it. never upgraded because samsung was not listening to fold customers. Thought the Z fold 6 was going to be different, but not really. I'm going to upgrade to a phone that has a more usable, wider front screen period. I absolutely love samsung, but not enough to pay 1800 dollars for a phone where I'll only use half of it.

I am using Fold 3 for more than 2 years now but I will not upgrade to Fold 6 for 2 reasons: 1) No WiFi 7, 2) I want to test how long does my Fold 3 lasts, it has lasted for more than 2 years of daily use which is already more than I thought it would but I'm hoping it will get till Fold 7 so that I can have WiFi 7 in my phone.

Trying to decide…Fold 6 or the S24 ultra? I currently have an iPhone XS. Want to get a nice android phone. Haven’t had one since 2010 I don’t change phone often. I want to take photos, multi task, emulate games. What do you guys think?
