Samsung - How to enable & Disable child lock

My sister accidentally put it on child lock when she was washing her uniform and we thought there was too much water inside the drum, but thankfully it’s just a setting. I was so confused as to why there was a smiling face on the lock, because I’m pretty sure when it’s locked, you don’t see a smiley face lol. thanks for saving my dad from pulling the hose apart

need to ask will the child lock stay on through cycle then when the wash is completed does it automatically turn off? then must I set it again each time? how about in between washes, when not in use, how to prevent a child getting to this? how to prevent a tragedy?

The Samsung child lock is not fit for purpose. It's obviously supposed to stop a toddler pressing buttons and interfering with your wash - but the power button is not locked, so one press of that and you have to repeat your whole wash. When you switch it back on, the door remains locked and the child lock active and you have to repeat your wash.

That's on of the downsides to child lock I find someone can still turn it off

@@washerlad306 After a bit of googling I've found there's a workaround that doesn't cost much money. A plastic button protector that fits over the power button. They're on Amazon under "Proofing Switch Covers". It has a plastic lock that a toddler couldn't figure out. So with all of the other button locks that should stop the toddler hacker in my house 👍

I have the same machine as you. I know about the child lock but I currently have the key symbol showing (which is not the child lock) after it has washed and will not turn off so I can't open the door. When I press the on /off button everything lights up again but the key symbol is still showing and the door will still not open, even after waiting a few minutes. The machine is brand new and only done two washes so far. Is there a way of turning this key symbol off to open the door? I have a duvet in the machine so the weight of it might be tricking the machine into thinking there is water in the drum?

That could be a possibility that it is detecting water but if its not that then it could be a pcb issue if the childlock is stuck on and tried to get it to turn off
