It's still a miracle Apple was able to pull off the first generation iPhone in 2007 with 2000s technology. That wasn't easy. A lot of new technologies Apple put into the iPhone were so new and expensive. The software alone was a nightmare to deal with according to software engineers who worked in the development of iPhone OS. Also, it's a miracle that Apple's iPhone team didn't chase the competition by replicating what the established phone makers were doing at the time. Apple's team chased a dream. Capacitive touch-screen? No stylus. No keyboard. Countless hours were put into the development of the touch-screen software to work perfectly with the touch-screen hardware.
