Samsung Odyssey Ark - First Look!

I checked this Samsung Odyssey Ark 55 inch Monitor and here are some of my observation 1. When used in vertical mode, you can not set 2nd window or any tab of already opened browser in lower window in above two windows, only youtube and Samsung Web browser can be opened in it from Samsung in built App. 2. Samsung has no built in windows separator /organizer software to arrange the window automatically. 3. Not sure about the effect of such huge screen (which is not OLED) on your eyes in long run. 4. Sound of this monitor is superb, Played Calm Down song it was pleasant listening to it, you will love its audio and deep thumping base, found the sound little less but ok for monitor. 5. When used in vertical mode, the lower portion of monitor can not be set 90 degree to table , its lilt so you may find it awkward. 6. It would have been great deal, if Samsung had provided feature to make the curve flat completely or be able to set 4 16:9 ratio windows in on screen like keeping two 49 inch monitor just one above the other. Overall its look like it's half baked product and should be sold for price of $1200-$1500. Hopefully 2nd or 3rd gen will grab huge attention.

Great comments, really appreciate you sharing with us! The V2 has just been released. I saw it briefly at IFA in Berlin, and I don't think there are all that many changes to it. Will do a video on it as soon as I get it in Australia. We're just about to publish a vid on Samsung's other Odyssey gaming monitors - the 57in Odyssey G9 and 49in Odyssey OLED G9 - I had a first look at them so they might be a better option than the massive Odyssey Arc

I love how multi view is one of the main selling points for this monitor, but all reviews fail to mention you can only use like 3 specific apps with it. Multiview section on this video is 12 seconds. I wish I knew that info before buying the monitor 😢

So you can't put your pc in the multiview three times?

@@timj6453 you can only multi view 1 input/ Samsung smart TV/ KZbin/ Web browser/ mirror phone/ Mirror computer. So you can’t watch Twitch in multi view. Can’t watch HBO in multi view. Etc.

@@krypton269 Oh I see, I was looking up just now how you could split up your display and there's some usefull softwares for that. The only thing that is keeping me from buying it right now is that it's too big to game on but if you can split your screen put a game in the center with discord and something else on both sides than that would be awesome. I did find a solution for that but when you move your mouse you simply exit your game screen so it's a horror actually. I will continue my journey but this display would be ideal to do everything since I am a trader and need a lot of screens.

@@timj6453 you can split it up on 1 input. But the “multi view” you can’t use anything else but those apps. So if you are using a computer you can put your windows however. But it would be on 1 input. Not the “multi view”. I got it for under 2k shipped and I was still debating on returning it for “multi view” reasons.

@@krypton269 I don't really care about the multi view since I don't watch rarely watch tv. If I can get my game to run with windows on the side there's nothing more I need.

Really, it’s the ability to rotate this screen so it’s in portrait mode and then it can be divided into three individual segments. Also, it’s a curve screen which brings the corners closer to you for more immersion if you’re playing games and sitting close to it. Arguably, it’s an acquired taste, and for the diehard gamer.

I thought cockpit mode gave you the view of 327 inch TVs? In the video you said 332 inch so can I have the correct size? Thanks in advance and I love the video!

I'm pretty sure that the diagonal of the 3 screens is 32 inches for each. We actually measured it when we shot the video. It might be 27 inches horizontal width, but 32 inches diagonal. Glad the video was helpful!

best monitor i have ever owned multi view is just a gimmick not used it once and just wish samsung would have used a different frequency for remote as sick of turning my samsung tv over and the monitor turning over as well

I think the LG OLED looks better for movies, the Odyssey is very bright though.

It's not too big - great for financial workers. Biggest problem is that it is too weak to be lifted in the corners when horrizontal according to the instructions.

Yes, I believe both monitors (OLED and QLED) have standard VESA mounts on the back.

The monitor does appear to have a flicker in the video however this didn't happen in real life. It's because our cameras were set to 50Hz (PAL) and the monitor was running at 60Hz (NTSC).

4k is too low resolution for this size, just give me an 8k curved monitor without all the tv features

Over HDMI 2.1? M2 Pro/Max devices and most recent high-end GPUs support 8k 60 4:4:4. I had a Samsung QN900C for about a month before the ui/menus for mulit-device pissed me off too much, now considering 3x 5k or 6k in portrait but it kind of ruins my idea of combining workstation & livingroom. @@gadgetguytech

Matt screen = Crapy detail in the low end tonal range = Crapy colours that don't pop! Forget it! cheap looking! Why in this day and age of glossy screens everywhere, your phone, TV's, Imacs, IPads, Android pads and even GPS units do people have to put up with large dated matt monitor screens! All they have is they say is, oh it will stop reflections! Like people aren't smart enough to deal with that!!!
