for the colors i use the nvidia panel and use some higher color saturation. I'm thinking in changing it bc of the ghosting and motion blur. It's 144, I use 165hz but it doesn't feels like 144 or 165. Yeah, it feels smooth, but all blurry at the same time and hard to see

I did notice the same thing. But for some reason it didn't get in the way of my gameplay. I could see Nvidia Control Panel as providing that extra color pop that the monitor is surely capable of, but doesn't allow for with it's lack of menus.

I guess it depends on what you mean by competitive. Like if you compete, then no. If you want better quality then check out the BenQ EX2510s. But if you mean competitive as in you get really into the games, it is decent for fps and being this cheap.

About 7 min in after the ghosting, I understood that you must stop on the frame to notice the blur, am I correct ?, and I also noticed its pretty solid

Calibration can be fixed with the graphics card settings, for example nvidia and other softwares

There is a bit of noticeable motion blur in gameplay. But it wasn't beyond redemption, I think it has a lot to do with the simple overdrive settings. But like I said in the video, none of that really bothered me during gameplay. It was like playing on a budget 1080p monitor.

Hi! I apologize in advance for my poor knowledge of your language. I have been using the lg22mp58dp 60-hertz IPS monitor for quite a long time, but my attempts to switch to a 144-hertz monitor with a tn-type matrix ended in failure. I tried to use the hp22x monitor with a tn matrix, but its pale colors terrified me. I would like to buy an odyssey g3, but I don't know how much better its matrix is than tn and whether its colors will be juicy enough.

Hey, I would say your English is pretty good! I totally understand your concern and agree that TN can be a bit underwhelming. If I had to be honest, this Samsung G3 may not be the best monitor for you. Although VA panels typically have good color, I would say this monitor specifically is not amazing. It's better than the HP 25x, but maybe not as good as a higher end 1080p monitor would be. Then again, I may be a bit more picky considering I am used to 1440p and 4k.

I choose between the Odyssey G3 and the LG UltraGear 24GN600-B, both versions are 24 inches, my budget does not allow me to consider something more expensive. And the size of my desk can hardly accommodate even a 24-inch display. How difficult it is to choose a good monitor, everyone has some disadvantages.

My current MSI monitor has this weird thing with brightness i have been constantly noticing since I switched monitors. The games seem too dark but when I turn up brightness or contrast the games are then too bright. I can never find a perfect balance and was wondering if this monitor has this problem

To be honest, if you like to mess with the settings and change them around, this monitor doesnt have many options for calibration. It's very basic. Maybe look at Gigabyte or LG. Their menus are usually a bit better.

my guess is your new monitor have an ips panel. Try and go for a VA panel. A bit more blur but 3 times betters contrast.

Can anyone kindly help me? I took the Odyssey g3 today and by connecting the headphones to the monitor (because if I connect to the controller I don't hear anything) I feel great but I can't speak, that is, others can't hear me, I hear them. I'm from Xbox X

Which xbox and what headset? If you are using a headset that is compatible with the xbox, then it will connect either wirelessly to the console or wired to the controller for mic and wireless to xbox for sound. But the 3.5mm on the monitor is only for audio, not for microphone. So check the headset instructions and make sure it is set up properly to the xbox...and make sure it is compatible.

Use a Display port cable if you can, looks rectangular with an angle to one side. Much better for gaming.

It does not have an actual speaker, but it does have a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can plug in some speakers.

That doesn't sound normal. It might be the screen size setting. Make sure the aspect ratio is 16:9 and/or the screen size is set to full.

I have the philips resolution set to 2560x1440 but I can’t find the option for the Samsung, is the g3 27” limited to 1920x1080? hi. I was wondering if this monitor could hook up to my xbox one x as well, because i’ve been trying to hook this monitor into my xbox one x, and it hasn’t worked. is it a problem with the hdmi cord? I’m not sure what hdmi cord comes with the xbox one x, and am not sure if it’s compatible with the monitor. the hdmi cord fits into the port, but my monitor won’t display anything.

Well it could be something simple. Like the monitor not being on the right input. But it could also be the cable. There is no reason it would not work, other than some random setting not allowing it to display. I have ran into this a few times and ultimately had to mess around with the settings and cables before getting it to work.

I am fairly certain the G3 does not have an internal speaker. So you have to use the 3.5 mm headphone jack in order to you get a sound output from it.

I can see that. I have really liked Acer at 1080p, LG and gigabyte. My only advice would be to step up a notch in performance and look for something in the high $200's and not a TN panel.

Not sure if you’ve already returned it, but after having this monitor for six months I finally found that the fix to the insane amount of ghosting is to turn off the FreeSync and put the response time on fastest

This monitor is amazing I play fortnite and turn down my brightness so the pictures look nice cause when it’s on high resolution it don’t look good so when you first get this monitor it wouldn’t be what you except but just mess about with ya brightness and then ye your set

Depends on the exact issue. Could be a lack of calibration, maybe the color control settings or something like that. Did you do a calibration through the windows tool?

Maybe I'm stupid or maybe I missed something but I have this monitor and when I turn it on, it say "no signal". So I wanted to check the input source, and I think I need to access the menu for that. Problem is, nothing happen when I press the menu button, the one at the back of the monitor. I tried pressing it during few second too and still nothing. I dont know what I'm doing wrong, and it's the last easy solution i have to fix my problem, before going into panick mode. Well it could be a number of things. But we have all been in your position. First I would make sure that the GPU is seeded onto the motherboard properly (power down and remove power cable first), then be sure to try both hdmi and display port cables for your connection. The other simple solution is to make sure you video cable (either HDMI) is plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard connection, unless you are using an integrated graphics CPU. Let me know how that works.

I really like this monitor but Im having an issue with it. When Im playing The Witcher 3 or others game where u can rotate ur camera view freely, when I do this the picture is like changing in gamma and its so disturbing I cant handle this. Can it be fixed? Is it the settings cause, or its just the way how VA monitors works?

Yeah that can be frustrating. I have experienced the same issue on other monitors with similar games. The downside is that this G3 it doesn't have a ton of calibration capability. So when you run into issues like this, there is not a ton of options. You might try dialing in your GPU/Console motion settings. Sometimes capping your frame rate will help with stutter, but not always.

There has been some issue with EDID information on the odyssey monitors too. It could be that while you are changing view, the refresh is causing some sort of delay in information being sent or received by the monitor.

All current shoppers keep in mind there are many different versions of this monitor. The latest 2024 version is the G30D which is 180hz VA panel and supports standard Freesync spec. The previous version is 165hz VA and supports Freesync Premium. The actual differences in Freesync I do not know. But I have the latest G30D working with a GTX1080 with Gsync enabled in the driver.

@@heyyou4499 I don’t notice anything obvious. When I look around at the stars on the sky they do dim when moving around and go bright when stopped. It’s on a secondary pc so I’m not too picky. I paid $100 total for a brand new one locally.

I use it as a secondary monitor that is primarily displaying web pages and documents. It does well imo. I did the TrueType calibration on it from windows and that helped quite a bit.

I don't know what LG you will get but I went with the LG gn650 colour is great and graphic but not always only in sertain situations it'll be perfect and then it sucks , I had choppy display and other times not , so honestly go big or don't bother with cheap monitors and I'm thinking that I should go look at higher price range because I've been researching and searching the internet and came to the conclusion that it's better to buy an more expensive monitor than wasting money on a cheap monitors

I would agree with this conclusion. Spend the money where it counts. I understand not everyone can. But if you can...definitely go up a class or two on monitor. It makes a big difference. For budget, this or something like the GN50t, they are in the same ballpark.

Im just looking for a Monitor because console(ps4) Gaming on a tv with a high response time is bad.I hope the 1ms response time on this wil help because playing with k&m on a ps4 with a high response time makes the game feel weird as if it gets frame drops or thats just the input delay I am not sure.( I am not a expert at these things this is just what I think will help with that input lag/frame drop feeling)

I get what you're saying and will agree that any decent gaming monitor will improve your input lag and something with a good pixel response rate will help overall with motion handling. All you need is HDMI 2.0 and you will get 120hz. Technically HDMI 1.4 will do that as well. But it may not have ALLM or VRR because of the version.

That is a great question. I haven't personally tested that msi, although I have used it once or twice. Personally, I would go with whatever is the better price at the moment. They both have very similar specs.

I can say that I don't know. The G3 is definitely a budget pick, so it's hard to hold up to any higher performance 1080p monitor. But I know the AOC is on sale often too. Maybe compare some videos out there to this one.

I never prefer monitor speakers over a pair of headphones or simple two channel speaker setup like logitech. $50 for two speakers and a small subwoofer will destroy compared to any monitor.

@@BainCustom ended up buying this one and then canceling it (Amazon) and bought the G30A that if I’m not wrong is a little bit newer, for almost the same price (250 dollars), like 4 more dollars than the g3. And bought some Logitech S150 speakers for like 17 dollar (they had discount), can’t wait to use my Sony principal speaker, so far the experience of gaming that is what I use it the most and sometimes for streaming services have been awesome. The only thing that I don’t understand is why they don’t sell the G30A in Mexico, both of them were sent from USA but checking for specs in the samsung Mexican site only the g3 existed here

I believe the G3 has support for Gsync yes, but it's not licensed as compatible. So I personally really like the LG Ultragear lineup. The G3 will be good as well. If the LG is an Nano IPS, you will probably like their colors a bit more than the Samsung.

I most recently bought the lg gn 650 and it sucked it had ghosting tearing and for the price I was bummed the heck out , so I sent it back and asked for a refund , so I'm wondering if this is better than the LG gn650 or would you say it is better than the LG gn650 for the Xbox series s , because I want a decent monitor that doesn't ghost or tear as badly as my LG monitor did , even my old Samsung TV doesn't tear as badly as the LG did but the LG was slightly better in graphics when I was standing still

Get something like the BenQ EX2510s, it is a step above and much better with screen tear and motion blur. It is about $100 more, but worth every penny.

For a budget monitor it is solid. For an upgrade at 1080p, the BenQ ex2510s is a good option as well. But I am glad to hear you are happy!

Gigabyte and MSI offer more for the money, but the Gigabyte design is a bit more gamery. More HDMI/DP ports, 2xUSB ports (there is a Gigabyte model with type-C too and KVM) and a joystick navigation. MSI/Gigabyte does offer 90deg pivot. P.S. Good review.

I like gigabyte monitors but expensive. They have budget monitors but panel colors sucks to me. Msi budget monitors have better specs but not all of them are good for heavy gaming.

This monitor? Do you have the overdrive on? Are you playing in a downscaled 4k resolution or 1080p resolution and what is the refresh rate? It could be a number of issues. But you want to make sure your overdrive is on and you are getting the best refresh rate the game offers. It may require some additional setup in the menus.

Yes I noticed the smearing a bit. I don't have specific settings for the PS4, but you might try changing the overdrive setting and I believe the eye safe mode had an effect on smearing. Play with that, but also try the different pre-sets. Good luck and good gaming.

I find it kinda falls in fast RTS's i noticed the motion blur a lot in ashes if i follow a unit they kinda turn into a blurry mess sadly though if the image is relatively still the blur does kinda fit as it's very slight if you don't follow the units.
