Being the flagship tv, you would expect Samsung to throw every bit of LED knowledge they have at the Q900B. The result is a beautifully crafted screen that is extremely elegant both on wall or on a tv support. The image is staggering and superb.

The reason why QLED MINI Led is so popular is because it displays more detail in dark colours compared to OLED which crushes it. I own both tech and if I had to choose one it would be QLED!

@@semahj Right, that’s why I stated a MiniLED panel that’s better as well. It’s best in no area. Also, 8K panels are worse at displaying 4K than 4K panels. So unless you have the XR Cognitive processor in your TV, like with a Sony, it’s not a good idea at the moment. Either Z9K, or just get a high-end 4K TV. And at this point, 1000 nits is honestly more than good enough especially when you factor in the perfect black level, instant response time, and absolutely incredible color gamut that comes with QD-OLED panels. I would not trade all that away for a few hundred more nits, no way. But I guess that explains the price of the S95B and especially the A95K. LG G2 gets about as bright but lacks the color gamut and out-of-box color accuracy of QD-OLED, so I’d still say the A95K and S95B are the two best TV’s available (particularly A95K because it has Dolby Vision instead of HDR10+, and Sony image processing of course). As HDTVReview said, it’s the TV to beat!

I bought one of the first Samsung 8k models back in early 2019 Q900 82". Loved how bright the TV is and the gaming, hated that some movie and TV show dark scenes had the auto-dim all over the place. BUT the biggest issue was on year 4 the TV developed a bright spot (3-4 inches) and a smudge 0.25" that appeared as the TV gets warm. For a TV that was $7k I find that unacceptable and I lost a lot of faith of Samsung's longevity. Just because the screen looks great and has no issues it does not mean it will look like that after warranty. I gave my parents my old 75" 4k Vizio from like 2015 and its still running with no issues. Don't get me wrong, I love the Samsung tech, but they need to increase the build quality and longevity, until that improves my next TV is a LG or Sony.

I have the 75" QN800B (couldn't justify the price hike with the 900B outside of having HDR 64X and Infinity Display) received a perfect panel, I was shocked given the horror stories out there and am completely blown away by the tests I've done. Sure, it has blooming, no LED completely eliminated it but in 90% of content it isn't noticeable and holy hell do films POP. It looks so damn good compared to other TV's I've had and yes, the blacks are OLED blacks, at least to my eyes comparing them in-store, it is a pure black in content I've tested it with. Not to mention, gaming, this TV in gaming is incredible. I cannot go back after this TV, the VRR and Game Mode with local dimming (my local dimming somehow remains in High? I've heard the TV is meant to run Game Mode with limited local dimming) and the low input lag combined has allowed my consoles to achieve higher frame-rates. Everything looks and plays silky smooth and 30 FPS finally has removed judder and that lagging motion that makes me sick, it makes 30 FPS look like 40-45. The colours are spectacular, 8K content (what you can find out there, AI upscaled, KZbin, etc) looks amazing and 4K to 8K upscale is clearly better than 4K native. It's just fact at this point, I play anything in native 4K and it looks so damn crystal clear and vibrant, I cannot go back after the QN800B. And yes, it may sound like a lot of gushing but after a lot of research and some worrying, I was very surprised by the TV and it surpassed all my expectations. Everything I throw at it currently it's just great (and you know, some will say that below 1080p SDR content looks bad on 8K but it's still clearer on this TV than I've encountered on others, it does as much as it possibly can with sub-par quality and I think personally it looks solid.)

It's like the TV has a microgrid. 8K isn't about the content. It's about the pixel size. We need 8K TVs because we need small pixels. Also all 1080P and 4K content are 8K content because the neural network upscale algorithms now are mind blowing.

Major TV manufacturers have adopted this attitude concerning their LCD TVs: "Too bad if you want our state-of-the-art technology in a 55" 4K LCD TV. We're not going to provide you with that. If you want the best quality LCD TVs from us, you have to buy a bigger 8k model." I'm just glad that the new QD-OLED TVs are being made available in a 55" size. Can't say if the Z9K is better since it just came out - only available in 75" at one place, and nothing available at Best Buy, Amazon, or BH. Haven't seen a single review, even with review samples. But yes, would like to see the comparison. You loved the Z9J last year. So would definitely like to see the Mini LED/Master Drive version. Sadly, even on a $10k TV, Sony still doesn't have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. Facepalm for the manufacturer of some of the best TVs in the world for decades, and maker of one of the best selling consoles of all time, still playing games with HDMI inputs in 2022. Rumors of possible chipset changes for next year...at least in their top models. But they are years behind LG, and now Samsung.

Years behind in HDMI port quantity, sure. But years ahead in image processing (and therefore picture quality), color accuracy, HDR tone mapping, sound quality, software, etc. etc. I will take two HDMI 2.1 ports with the best quality possible over four HDMI 2.1 ports and mid-range quality, which is what you get from Samsung and LG. Sony is the only high-end TV company currently, and they price their products to reflect that. Similar to Apple with iPhones (average sale price of $900 vs. average sale price of $290 for Samsung phones). Samsung will forever be a budget option. LG sticks around mid-range from time to time. But companies like Sony, Apple, etc. are always the choice for quality when you can afford it. Problem is not everyone can afford it.

@@Fusionade Not sure I can objectively agree with you. Yes, Sony focuses on image quality and not on stats/features, like HDMI ports, mini LED, local dimming zones, etc. They have been objectively better at color accuracy and color gradient, and subjectively better in other areas like motion and upscaling. Sound quality is subjective and irrelevant as most will have sound bars and sound systems. Software is meh. I would run Chromecast or Apple TV anyway. The fact that they came out with QD-OLED this year was surprising since they usually play the Apple game of "Be the best, not the first". But LG and Samsung have made huge strides in processing, to the point only the pixel peeping reviewers will be able to tell the difference in most cases. If Sony wants to continue the "best image" card, that's fine. But that's no excuse for having the company who makes the collectively best selling console of all time, and focuses on image quality, to be years behind on the inputs to get the best quality. Just my opinion.

The 8K detractors are the same Amish trollers that said the same thing about 1080p and 4K but probably said 3D was soo cool. If you want a LARGE TV - not some middling 65", you want 8K - and no, you don't need to sit 20' from a 100" TV. And ANYONE who has seen decent upscaling (e.g. Oppo or Sony) knows that lower resolution content can look better when upscaled. I'm a big fan of putting the controls in a seperate box - (provided they have LONG cables available for it).

The new samsung tizen menu can be easily bypassed from using the voice command feature from the remote. A lot of reviewers are leaving this detail out. You hold the mic button and say settings, and it launches settings. For users like myself, at night, I use my galaxy buds2 pro. To easily switch from the TV audio to the headphones instead of navigating through the menu, etc, just say the keyword Bluetooth, and it launches the Bluetooth menu. The hub screen is mainly for watching small previews to recommended movies and shows from multiple platforms integrated through one home page. This allows you to quickly find something to watch without having to open multiple apps. It seems like most people that review these newer TVs aren't acknowledging the simple bypass method of voice commands to quickly navigate to the setting, input, movie, show, streaming service, etc. I thought the new samsung Hub would annoy me based on the reviews on KZbin, but this method gives you the best of both worlds. I do not work for Samsung, I'm also not reimbursed from Samsung. I'm just an average Joe who owns the B.O.B devices that Samsung has to offer. Just wanted to share this info with you as the reviewer as well as to those who are on the fence of buying these newer Samsung TVs based on the OS.

It's just ridiculous that Samsung is trying to sell old tech. But everyone knows very well that the Samsung QD-OLED TV is the best TV from Samsung and not the mini LED panels. Mini LED panels have been in monitor high-end technology for years, and it is sad that we still don't have a 4K 165Hz 32-inch monitor after all these years, and now I have to listen to Samsung saying that the Samsung QN900B 8K is the best TV out there Samsung is. In order to get the best picture quality with the best possible upscaling for HD and 4K content to 8K, is it better to use the native software application or use my Apple new 4K device? They are identical. I tested it on mine. Besides, I HIGHLY suggest you to turn off the wifi on your tv and use the Apple Tv 4k to stream content instead of using the tv built in app. As long as you have the wifi on, the tv will update the firmware to the latest version, which is 1420 and it just came out, and the update will destroy HDR performance on the tv. Unfortunately, then you won't be able to watch 8k content on youtube since Apple tv doesn't support 8k playback. Also, if you want to watch contents in HDR10+, you must get the 2022 version of Apple Tv 4K.

Great design but......... This is where it gets really bad...... Had an issue with my TV a year ago and had it repaired after being only 2 years old and now for the past month and a half I've been watching TV with the top third of my screen dim because of a back light issue. Of course it's out of warranty which I paid $4,000 for it and 2019 so to have to buy another TV is real upsetting in such a short period of time. I really can't see myself spending another dollar with Samsung.

Why does there have to be any now? I’m not sure what’s leading you to believe if 8K was gonna happen, we should already have a significant amount of content. In 2010, we knew 4K was gonna happen. But we didn’t have a significant amount of content. And now we do. So just wait for it. There’s no “deadline”. You think we’re doomed to 4K for the rest of humankind’s existence? 😂

@@Fusionade Yeah I remember when 3D was going to become the "industry standard." You can see where that "next big thing" went. The first 4k TVs came on the market in October 2012. ( According to Wikipedia) . The first 4k UHD Blu Ray players hit the market in February of 2016 (according to Wikipedia) which is a span of about 3.5 years. The first 8k TV was being sold by Sharp in 2015 (Again, according to Wikipedia) Seven years later - twice the interval of 4k TV to 4k Disc - we don't even have any industry discussions of 8k content. No 8k disc is being contemplated by any industry consortium, there are no discussions that I'm aware of among video stream providers about 8k content and more importantly Hollywood / the content industry isn't making any kind of moves to provide content at 8k resolution. The only thing you can do in 8k right now is watch a half dozen KZbin clips, play a game IF your PC is powerful enough (and very few are); oh and you can tell people about how great the upscaling is on your TV.

@@billmilosz Yup so that’s it! 4K the rest of our lives. :) Forever and ever and ever. /s The PS5 and Xbox Series X literally advertise 8K HDR on their box (just video of course), every HDMI 2.1 cable on Amazon has “8K60” or whatever on the title, Nvidia and AMD have created settings for FSR/DLSS designed for 8K base resolution, every TV company ever is starting to ramp up 8K TV production with prices steadily going down, etc. etc. These companies are bringing attention to it. Relax and be patient. This is the cycle of technology. We just got 4K HDR to be very mainstream (it amazes me how common Dolby Vision is on streaming services), and 8K is the niche. Then, 8K becomes mainstream and whatever’s next becomes the niche. And on and on. This is the cycle. No 8K discs yet because it doesn’t make any sense, the clientele isn’t there quite yet. I was an early adopter of 4K back in 2013, and it was hell trying to find content. I don’t even remember what I did actually, especially since 4K wasn’t mainstream on KZbin either. And well, now we’re here. I been through this time and time again. Trust me, it’s on the way. 👍 Edit: Also regarding 3D, it’s not a resolution. It’s literally a gimmick like virtual reality gaming or Kinect/PlayStation Move or whatever. Companies sell these hard as the “future standard” but none of us actually believe it. Resolution is an entirely different thing. Resolution, color gamut, dynamic range, frame rate, etc. are all things that push us towards having real life on the screen: and that’s the ultimate end-goal for games and moves, right? We want to imitate real life imagery. So, we push resolution, color, etc. on and on. We don’t just “stop” at 4K, when have we as a society ever stopped at anything, especially in technology? People thought graphics were reaching their theoretical limit. Nope, time to simulate physics and real lighting. Here comes ray-tracing. Are we done then? Nope. Path-tracing next. On and on and on…

Encouraging that Samsung are still sticking with developing non-OLED. I remain unconvinced that QD-OLED is utopia, in a bright room this level of brightness will really make a difference, plus it has the polarizing layer which will give better bright room blacks than a QD-OLED. Also nice to see Samsung at least can make a stand that holds the TV vertical

Yes, for now. That’s why the Sony Z9K will be hands-down the best 8K TV for now, because the XR Cognitive is the best processor in TVs currently and probably the only one capable of actually effectively constructing an 8K image. @@darkhaven9119 “Doesn’t have better picture quality or black level, don’t know about the processor though.” So…you don’t know what the image processor in a TV does at all then. How could you not know which processor is better, and then say picture quality of one is better than the other? That’s determined pretty much entirely by the image processor. The image processor is what separates all high-end TVs of the same category (MiniLED, OLED, QD-OLED). Here, we are comparing two MiniLED panels. If the Samsung has better picture quality and black level (from local dimming), that would mean the processor produces better clarity, tone mapping, a more robust local dimming algorithm, etc. So…you’re just speaking out of your ass if you don’t know about the processors but confidently say Sony doesn’t have better picture quality. And just to help you, yes the Sony XR Cognitive processor is leagues ahead of the processors in LG and Samsung TV’s. Like, leagues ahead. Better local dimming algorithm with XR Backlight Master, better tone mapping, better clarity, etc. etc. all stemming from that insane processor, which every reviewer has called best in-class. It’s why you pay a premium with Sony. But Samsung is always there as a budget option as most normal people don’t need the extra boost in picture quality and color depth. I recommend Sony only for videophiles and home theater enthusiasts, and LG for gamers or casual use. Samsung…not really for anything at the moment. :/

As we advance into the future, the adoption of higher resolution displays also increases. I remember years ago 4K was considered "super expensive" and "unnecessary", but here we are. You could say 2K is still popular but 4K is at an all-time high in terms of usage. 8K - - probably in the next 5-10 years it will start to become popular as the display tech improves and these companies are able to produce it at less cost than what they cost today. Content - we are still seeing a surge into 4K, not everyone is on the 4K bandwagon so 8K content is still long ways to go. But, fast forward decades into the future and we will be having a laugh about 4K.
