Samsung QN95C Best Picture Settings

Had a Philips TV on the wall for 16 years had to replace it with the Samsung when it got dimmer and dimmer, Samsung's filmmaker mode makes it look like my old burnt out Phillips, Standard looks amazing for all formats in my front room

Yeah these people always recommend Movie or Filmmaker mode because it's an old TV and film industry setting apparently favoured by film and TV directors.

Helpful review thankyou for you hard work and time. I have just bought the samsung QN95C and Im just totally blown away by it...I mean seriously. I just cant imagine a better picture anywhere!!! I must admit personally I have it on standard. Im more of a wow man than a purist man...but its nice to have options right?😊

Folks. I own the QN95C, got it for 120K (INR, please convert for September 2024). It's beautiful. Trust me, I've seen it next to an OLED and it's still my preferred choice. The blooming is well within control and you can tweak the settings to please your eyes. Color accuracy in the end is very subjective as you would rather watch what your eyes like. Film maker mode was very close to my calibrated settings using Samsung smart things and an S series device (borrow from your friends if needed, it's worth it). The calibration from that blows away anything in the price range and I'd take this over the OLED. It's accurate if you're into it but it's more about your eyes and how you're pleased. Most of us are not good enough to judge colour accuracy and don't have high end calibration equipment. Go for this and enjoy brighter HDR and no OLED burn in (it's magical).

Wow, you got that TV for a really good price. I got QN85D for 126K, (65 inch) Now I think I should have researched about the 2023 models. I saw some blurriness in fast moving objects, I read about it on rtings today, turned off motion picture clarity. Will watch the same scenes again to see the difference.

In SDR, is Contrast supposed to be reduced to around 37-40 to reduce clipping? Or did Samsung engineer the TV to be calibrated at SDR Default 45?

I don't have this panel, but rather an NU8000, but the defaults are pretty much the same - I just leave Contrast at 45 with SDR in Movie Mode, but drop Backlight to "11" out of "50" because we watch disc based content in a dark room. I pretty much leave the HDR settings on their defaults.

Both are the same in terms of greyscale and colour gamut performance, but FMM guarantees that any unwanted image processing is switched off.

That's because you are playing hdr content. In sdr mode you can choose between bt.1886 and 2.2 gamma.

Doesn't matter since this is a miniled not a fald or edge lit panel. Blacks would be blacks, perceived contrast would be the same and picture quality amazing. This is an IPS panel and they tend to be better color, GAMING and response time wise. Production cost for them costs more for a reason. Whoever tells you VA panels are better is a joker.

Who comes up with this garbage. Filmmaker looks terrible so dull. Standard is by far the best overall mode. You may need to turn down the color if you prefer a more natural look, but that's about it. I don't know where all these "experts" come from telling you to use filmmaker or movie modes.

But the colors are not accurate nor is the brightness. Of course you can use dynamic but that is normally not used for a correct picture.
