Samsung flagships have pretty much achieved the pinnacle of smartphone technology and I'm so here for it!
@AlexandreG9 ай бұрын
The fact that there's phones out there with main sensors and lenses twice as expensive as the ones Samsung uses, with twice the area of such sensors, with a dedicated ISP just to handle the information coming from the sensors, and a more complete camera app, and there's people on the internet calling the S24 Ultra the pinnacle of smartphone technology on a video comparing it to a professional camera... Kinda proves to me why Samsung puts 200 MP tiny sensors on their phones while the professional cameras of today with sensors 20x larger and lenses way more capable won't reach more than 80MP, and that's a stretch. I'm convinced they could put a 500MP on their phones and people who buy them would think they got a phone much more capable than a professional camera...

I would really like to see an in depth video of how to use Expert Raw/Pro mode on S24 Ultra as I am not very knowledgeable on all the little sections and terminology of photography and I would really like to understand better what is for what (ISO, Speed, WB, EV, etc, how to use each of it, whether to use ND filters or not - difference, and really use full potential of this extraordinary cameras on S24 Ultra rather than just auto mode. I know I could do research and read about it, but would be nice to have it explained nicely in a video with examples. ❤ Nevertheless, great video and keep on going Steven.

Great video! Thanks! Finally(!) someone who takes RAW photos and compares the capabilities of the phone. Many people don't even understand the potential of RAW. Perhaps, this is where phones have developed the most. I used to use a DSLR a long time ago. (Pentax K10D, with many high-quality lenses) But nowadays, almost only phones. (S22 Ultra) The pen is a good option for editing, but I never use it. The phone display is great for checking photos and videos. One thing I miss about the phone is the viewfinder or EVF. One more thing: Of course, the phone has a tiny CCD. But we get 4 fixed focus lenses!

Sure, phones can take brilliant photos, but they will always have far inferior clay to work in post. You also have way less to work with in challenging situations and can’t make stills to enlarge for pro work. Yet for the Hobby Harry and Weekend Warrior they are good for most things. My biggest gripes are the grain when you zoom and the phone adding light when you don’t want it.

Hey! Great videos you got here! Are you going to do a comparison between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and S24 Ultra? I'm very curious to see which one will win. It's great to see decent reviews of cell phones and what they are capable of in the right hands. I really appreciate that you treat smartphones like other cameras. I mean you use e.g. nd filters. Too many other (almost everyone...) content creators don't use filters when doing these reviews. And they do it just all wrong because of that. Subbed 👍

Omg.. 👏👏👏 Excellent Excellent breakdown! You completely addressed every single aspect of the phones camera capabilities. You even broke down why things get grainy and how to avoid it. This is such a step up from the S20 Note Ultra, glad l waited. I also agree that removing the 10x zoom was a mistake. I read that the software uses a lot of Ai to adjust for lost information. It still needs a lot of light. They upgraded the stabilization and size of the sensor, but it would be great if the sensors could be larger. Thanks again for a comprehensive review!

The Sony is unbeatable in low light, aperture control, and the impact of different lenses, audio recording, accessories for pro video work. But I always have the cellphone with me. small compact, in my pocket. the Sony is pulled for jobs. and for the sheer joy of great photography and creative moments that can't be done on a cellphone. The Samsung shines in close up, macro, auto focus, deep depth of field always. it's not a creative camera, but, it surely is nice . together, this is an ideal set up.

⭐️ I’m a basic photographer and I loved the s23 pro… not only could you zoom in from far away, it was also really good at taking super close up photos. I switched to the iPhone 13 just to see what the hype was around iPhone and honestly I’m a bit disappointed… especially with the super close up photos, I have to take a regular photo, then crop and zoom in and it definitely doesn’t have the same level of detail. I really want to go back to Samsung especially with the stylus, but we’ll see. It sounds like the s24 camera is pretty similar to the s23 which should be fine for amateur photographer like me.

Quite a great video. I have seen many examples from many people that there is a problem with the RAW files in the S24U and the raw files behave like compressed jpegs. I guess there was no such problem with your device. However, I don't think it's right to compare smartphones with DSLRs, it's a very misleading comparison. Especially in scenes with high DR. Smartphones stack 3,6,9 frames in a single shot and get a wider DR this way. If you stack 3 frames with a DSLR and compare them, it's already a different universe. Also, I would have expected some detail and texture comparisons instead of showing the photos so superficially, so that we could see how disgusting the actual level of detail and texture is in photos that look quite nice on the tiny screen of the S24 Ultra. But it didn't happen - this video is more of a crowd-pleaser than a technical review. And it succeeds. Congratulations.

Thanks for this video @stevendivish . Informative as always! Could you pls. do an S24 Ultra and S23 Ultra camera comparison? Like you, I too am a photography buff and care about the camera features more than anything else. I ordered the top-of-the-line S24 Ultra config (despite it's lower optical zoom) and ended up returning it back promptly to Samsung due to the issues with the display, which have been widely reported and yet to be fixed. In my one or two days of having this phone, I very briefly tried the camera and just wasn't impressed with the quality. Of course, I didn't download the pics to a computer and check them out. Maybe they weren't very appealing when seen on the phone due to the issues with the display itself. I am seriously considering buying an S23 Ultra instead, although it is now a generation older. Your comparison of these two, from a camera/photography standpoint would help! Again, thanks!

@@Madin_FWI I show this zoom that you are talking about in this video too. What I mean is there’s no focal length indication in mm so you know what lens you’re using

This is just fantastic and exciting. I own an S23 Ultra and haven't even used all the features this phone has. What a waste of time. I can totally start learning the RAW side of this camera. I can't wait to purchase the S24. Awesome video. Question. What do you use for video editing? Thanks for your videos. Scribed.

I am always more interested in seeing the best possible quality a phone camera can achieve, not just the "auto" mode. It gets boring seeing most camera comparison videos focusing on "point and shoot" types of videos; it's completely irrelevant. If you're trying to create the best content possible, you would actually try to make it look as good as possible, and understanding the phone's capabilities is the most legitimate way to choose the right one for you.
