Tips to make your washer last longer: only put detergent to the max fill or less. This is an efficient washer and does not need a lot of detergent. Using excess detergent will cause it to corrode on the inside overtime which will cause it to stop working. Many people make this mistake all the time thinking more soap is better and cleans better. So wrong. You don't need much. And you want to use a low sudsing detergent. Also, do not only use cold water all the time. Clean your washer at least once a month on cleaning mode. Run a wash cycle on the hottest water temperature setting with NO DETERGENT and NO CLOTHES to make sure all the soap scum and buildup is removed to prevent corrosion. Also, NEVER EVER overload the machine. This will cause wear and tear and eventually knock the barrel off balance and your machine will basically be DONE. Make sure you change/clean the filters regularly. Front load machines are more sensitive and require more TLC. I learned this from a tech...

I have this same washer, had it since 2016 never ran the self cleaning mode until today. I was going to put vinegar in there, but read somewhere that Samsung did not recommend using vinegar as it could damage some of the internals, instead they suggested using bleach in the compartment. The cycle took 4 hours to complete. Like you, I always leave the washer door open as well as the detergent drawer after every wash to keep moisture from building up. Also I completely pulled out the detergent drawer and soaked it in a bucket of hot water and vinegar to break down the gunk of liquid softener build-up in the tray.

Also if you have read the manual it will tell you not to close the door to your washer. Closing the door doesn’t let air in to help dry out the washer normally therefore creating a wet environment where mold can grow up. All front load washers need to have the front doors left open and wiped out especially the gasket.

I think the manual says not to leave the door closed, and to wipe off the door after you're done washing for the day. I try never to close the door when it's not in use, and I think it helps. Our previous washer, which we replaced with this model, had that issue, but it was pretty old and we always kept it closed. So that's another thing you can try. We've had ours for around a year, I think, and I'm going to try the self-clean mode today.

But after running a few cycles of self-clean with the charlie soap, My washer is no longer having smell, mold issues. I do a self-clean with Charlie Soap about every 2 months. Good thing is, it also cleans your washer when you run a load. Look it up! Every other detergent leaves residue and causes buildup. Charlie Soap is the only soap that doesn't.

I wash getting black mold stains all over my whites and towels. It was because there was mold growing underneath the rubber seal that fits to the door. I pulled back the rubber seal and mold was everywhere. It was a job cleaning all that out. Now I know to keep the door open on these front loaders. I was about to wash some clothes in my brother's washing machine like this, but then thought "I wonder if he has ever "washed" the washing machine. I do this to mine after washing my clothes, my mother's clothes, the house linens~ bed sheets, towels, and then the bathroom rugs last. Our washing machine is not working now so he said I can use his. Hopefully he won't be upset due to the length of this cleaning cycle, I want to leave the door open, but they have cats . I cleaned the lint trap as I have seen this done somewhere else. I should look on here first to trouble shoot our washer see if I can figure out what's wrong with it before calling a repair man, but I know when not to do something I cannot. But thank you for this video, will let my brother know how to care for this washer...ran out of baking soda though and a little voice in my head told me to throw some vinegar in there but just went ahead after cleaning the door and rubber gasket?? around the entrance of the tub and then just cleaned it. I should have started it when I was straightening up the pantry, would have been done by now... oh well next time. Thanks again

Wipe inside of door and rubber seal including the folds of rubber seal plus drum soak up excess moisture basicly then you leave detergent drawer open ajar and also washer door wide open after every load this will allow fresh air to circulate Once a month use a descaler product I would never use a bleach vinegar acid type of product on a rubber seal or in a washer period as a lot of seals rubber pipes etc could in theory could corrode cause damage but I'm no expert My washer is a pre owned model ive had mine for 3 plus months no probs as yet

The biggest culprit for fungus smell on clothes is delaying too long between washing and drying. If you leave wet clothes in washing machine for 24 hours, the fungi; molds, mildews and yeast will start to rapidly grow, unchecked. The "check" is at the initial washing. The detergent will kill 99%+ of the fungi. So your clothes should not smell bad if you dry them, fresh out of the wash, even if your washing machine smells like fungus. Another way to think of this is compare to gross, sweaty, smelly socks. That smell is from fungus. You wash them and the detergent kills most of them, which makes the odor go away. Then you dry them and the surviving ones are forced to go into a dormant, encapsulated state to survive the dry conditions. Then your socks smell fine until 8+ hours of moist conditions the next time you wear them.

I have the same washer and same problem which I solved. Yes you want to keep door open when not in use or the rubber will start to mold and cause black spots on the rubber, fix that by scrubbing the rubber with bleach. Why your clothes stink NOT ENOUGH WATER........ You are not getting a thorough rinsing of the detergent out of the tub and clothes. FIX, there are two screws on the backside top of the washer remove them. The top will side back so that you can remove it, it takes a little effort. Now on the inside, on the right looking at the washer, close to the front behind the power button you will see a blue little box with a rubber hose going to it, that is a transducer which controls the water level in the tub. Unplug the the wire harness, now if you reach behind the metal fold of the washer panel that the transducer snaps into you can easly remove it without breaking the clips be careful. Now remove the hose which is much easier with the transducer is removed. Now with the transducer in your hand you will notice 4 black tabs that you must push in to separate the blue part from the black part, the black part is the transducer and the blue part is the cover. The easy way to separate these two parts is to take a pair of scissors and cut the blue cover in two spots on each tab, once that is done they will come apart easy. DO NOT DROP!! Now you will see a white phillips screw with red lock tite, mark a starting point with sharpie, turn screw two turns, thats it. Assemble transducer use heavy rubber bands to hold the two parts together, I used 2 rubber bands that the grocery uses to keep asparagus together. install hose, snap in and connect the wire harness DONE. This will help alot in keeping the detergent dispenser and rubber seal clean and your clothes from smelling like sh*t. My big issue was towels, the damper enviroment in the bathroom amplifies the smell in towels. I'M ALL GOOD NOW!!!
@lyonsdavid5 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for that information, after I made this video I started adding a half a cup of borax inside the washer drum with every load of laundry and only a tiny bit of detergent and the mold smell on my clothes and towels is completely gone, I don't know if it's all because of The borax, or a combination of keeping the washer clean and dry, but I'm so thankful that it is mold and stink free now!
@michaelhickman30765 жыл бұрын
@@lyonsdavid There is mold in the tub housing that you can't see, if you increase the water your self cleaning is more effective it helps to keep everything in suspense. And during the first part of cleaning it's cold water, it drains and then hot water after it stops filling open your soap dispenser and pour white vinegar in its more effective in hot than cold. You could even first put baking soda in and wash it in with a mason full of hot water then add vinegar.
@michaelhickman30765 жыл бұрын
One more thing when doing a self cleaning the first part of the clean is a fill, clean and drain of cold water, last 2-3 mins. Second and third fill is hot water which takes place within the first hour. After the third fill, clean and drain the water is not completely drained there is water still in the drum housing that you can't see. The tub moves back and forth to clean the housing. Be sure to get some vinegar in on the third fill of hot water. This cleaning will last an hour cleaning the housing then it fill again but it will give you a fault code OE don't worry about it power off and run another self cleaning a second time then run a spin and drain. If you do change the setting on the transducer it will give a fault code OE which is the level sensor (transducer). This won't happen during normal washing only during self cleaning cause there's alot more water than normal without changing the transducer setting.

You don't have to do it after EVERY use. If that were the case then it would be useless for anyone to want to purchase the washer. Simply leave the door open a bit and leave open the soap/softener drawer enough to let air flow and you're fine. You are not going to eliminate dark color staining in the gasket but you will reduce or eliminate smell and problems in between you cleaning the gasket. Excellent washer and the dryer is great as well, but don't think you can't sleep at night unless you wash your washer after you wash your clothes. Hopefully that makes sense...

The water is very dirty. Suggest you use de scaler from Bosch made for front-loader. Then washer cleaner from Bosch about every three months. Also, fan in area to circulate air flow. Dry clean rubber gasket at the end of every wash day. If you have towel cycle or sanitize put all your towels through that cycle. Will take the smell out. Use no more than two tablespoon of laundry detergent liquids. Alternate to powder detergent every once and awhile. Cold washes are not really good use warm to help the machine get the detergent desolved. After washing touch the inside of the drum if it feels slick or gummy you used to much detergent. Then do all the other things you are doing. You won’t have another problem. I do the descaler and cleaner about a week or two apart. It makes a difference.

@starchild6445 жыл бұрын
Borax is antifungal. Also, softens water making detergent more efficient. Some people confuse it with boric acid, but it is not the same. There has been a learning curve for me with these front loader washers. In a basement it really requires the door and draw to be left fully open. If machine is in climate controlled area may get away with leaving slightly ajar, but think door open all the way is best with regular maintenance. I hear a lot of people say it needs more water to clean, but I don’t think so. Two things happened phosphates which make laundry detergent lift and whitened were removed. The other is lower wash temperatures in the name of energy conservation. Europeans use very hot water for towels, linens, and whites. These machines will boost water to 150 or 170 depending on internal heater. Some have cycles that say boosted heat or whites or sanitize. Your cleaning cycle no doubt used the internal water heater on the machine to clean the machine. I watch a lot of Lorain appliance reviews and that creator services appliances he says most temperatures classified as warm aren’t really warm and echoed what I told you about seldom using cold to wash. The other thing I noted that plastics in the machine tend to hold the gummed up detergents which then becomes a medium for mold growth. People think their top loaders avoid this problem but they really don’t it is just at the bottom of the tub, because all machines retain some water. The machines with no agitators have no filter or coin trap that is accessible for clean out and it is important to clean that out periodically. Off my soap box so to speak. Just love to share what I have learned over the years.....

Rylet it isn’t difficult to take care of a front loader. Most of it involves leaving the detergent door and big door open. Every few months you run a clean tub or sanitize cycle with cleaner. Every six check trap and clean. At the end of your wash for the day wipe down the seal and tub door. The info about detergent can be digested to this don’t use to much. Be sure you are washing towels on hot or temp boost. Wash very seldom with cold water this lets most of the detergent get used and rinsed out. It isn’t hard just different.

The water that I drained out of my washer where the filter is was just pure disgusting!! Oh did it smell terrible. I am going to try the baking soda and vinegar and see if that helps... Wish I had a self cleaning on my machine..

90% of all front load washers will need to be scrub with a cleaner on the inner Rubber seal of the door. There's two flaps normally that keep the water inside the unit when the door is closed. Cleaning this will help alot. This is mainly where mold and other junk will sit.

Thank you! About to use my self-clean cycle now. Having a little moldy smell and getting the ‘over suds’ code lately after a little short of 2 yrs of use.

May be because used more soap than what its recommended
@DiabeticlySweet874 жыл бұрын
Also use pods. For some reason using liquid soap can damage? I'm not sure but using pods are better for the washer.

keep your door open. do not close your washer door.

I understand why you'd use vinegar, but why baking soda? That would counteract the vinegar.
@marco.morel044 жыл бұрын
Because baking soda is gritty and abrasive and when the machine spins up it's drum with water it acts as a scrubber for the internal parts of the machine

Marco Morel no it doesn’t ? The baking soda literally dissolved and neutralised the vinegar

Umm... baking soda and vinegar produces carbon dioxide and quite violently if you mix them together straight. It will blow the stopper of a test tube if you cap it.

ummm mixed with large portions of water will not have the same effect

Mine gets that smell in my clothes from time to time. I clean the hell out of it and it helps for a couple months but it comes back. I’m about to tear mine apart and clean more hardcore and change the gasket

Generally..Samsung washer is a dirty one..after every wash you can see the residue of dirt on it's gasket..while you never see such a thing on Bosch's.

Maybe you should buy a proper washing machine. Then you don't have to worry about mold and how to clean the washer.

Peter Mühlhoff washer will never mould if u use proper wash cycles. If you use cold/warm settings all the time EVERY brand will get mouldy.

Unfortunately I’ve been dealing with this for quite a few years and sadly I’m not the only one. And just for your information top loaders do the same thing as far as mold is concerned for some reason all the newer machines don’t drain the water as they used to. So now water sits in the drain hose that connects to the machine and that’s where the mold is growing. I have since learned to put vinegar after I’m done with all my laundry for the day I put vinegar in the drain hose , mine drains into my slop sink. So far for two years now this has worked well. It’s not just the door and the rubber seal around the tub that needs to be dried off.
