Samsung is doing great work lately. Google needs to continue pushing for tablet support from developers.
@kizanko Жыл бұрын
I've messaged a lot of big developers asking why they don't have any Android apps or better implementation, and all of them give the same answer. Fragmentation, Google still has trouble to find a sweet spot that Android can be easily developed for. There's so many processors, Exynos, Snapdragon, Mediatek, ARM etc, also the camera's are not consistent, making apps like Tiktok and Snapchat have lower quality video's even when the camera's might be better than the Iphone. Google is not getting the hint that this is one of their biggest hiccups that they need to fix. If Android finally get's good app development interface we might get to see apps like Procreate, Dazz Cam, Appolo etc expand to Android making the choice much easier to invest in a Android Tablet.
@GabrielRM Жыл бұрын
@@kizanko I understand and agree, that's the biggest factor to android's drawbacks. But it's not something Google can easily fix as they don't control what other manufacturers do with android. We literally have fridges that can run android - but that'salso the great thing about android. However, that's a bit of a lazy response from developers sometimes. Many android apps aren't supported for large screens at all, and you're lucky if they can run in both landscape and portrait. Android runs the same base OS to these devices meaning developers need to create responsive apps to all device types. Apple created different OS for each device type and developers need to create different apps to each platform instead - you'd think that's more work, time consuming and more expensive.

True, the Samsung tablets are really great, but it's quite hard to use their full potential and especially for someone that works in the creative sector it's just not possible to use an android tablet to the full extend like an iPad. 😶 I'm a big samsung fan and used their phones, watches and at the beginning also tablets, but ever since I started working, I rely heavily on the Adobe creative cloud apps and android just doesn't get any of those apps like photoshop, illustrator and more, so I needed to get an iPad. And even tho I don't really like apple, I must admit, that they have a great selection of apps for their tablets, so I have to stay with them and will probably invest in a new iPad pro soon 🤦🏼♂️

In addition, for me I'm actually hooked into Samsung's ecosystem at the this point, Quick Share, Samsung Notes, DEX, Second Screen (which lets you use it as a Windows monitor), and all the multiwindow optimisations. To answer the title of the video, yes. This tablet is absolutely spectacular and very (and more) functional, you just have to get used to stopping the addiction and the constant reference to the iPad. And I recently changed the entire Apple ecosystem to Samsung's and I can confirm that the experience is just as extraordinary if not more, especially when you have other Samsung devices at home because the ecosystem is growing. In addition, with the Samsung ecosystem, you enter the Samsung/Google/Microsoft ecosystem and therefore benefit from the strengths of each, which is a clear advantage.

That tablet literally carried me through a degree, professional work, and more. And it was so cheap when I got it on Amazon at the time (like, 499 or something!). As far as Photoshop/Photo Editing goes, one of the GREATEST features of my Tab S8 Ultra that no one talks about is the 'Second Screen' feature. SuperDisplay a $10 app works really great. The Tab S8 Ultra has basically replaced my Wacom Cintiq as my main Photoshop editing device. It's higher resolution, wireless, lighter, portable, and the S-Pen might be even better... Samsung's built-in 'Second Screen' works OK, but it used to work much better than it does now, I don't know what happened, but hopefully they will update it to work as good as SuperDisplay does. Plus, your files stay resident on your workstation and you don't have to copy files back and forth. I find that SuperDisplay works exactly the same wired or over WiFi. If there's a difference, I don't see any. As I mentioned, it's SO much better than Samsung's Second Screen. It's pretty crazy to me that Samsung definitely knows how much of a superior product SuperDisplay is and they could easily license the technology (like they do Wacom's EMR) or even purchase the company without even batting an eye, instead they ship a vastly inferior piece of software... Plus, the device is awesome all on its own... Literally blown away by how great it is! The S-Pen is fantastic and FREE in the box. You don't need to add a paper-like screen protector ($40) in addition to the $130 you'll pay extra for the Apple Pencil... I'm a 30+ year Professional Graphic Artist. When some say that there aren't Professional Visual Arts apps on android it's just really incorrect, because I use them everyday. Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter, Concepts, Krita are just a few of the apps available on the Google Play store... There are many more... Are there a few apps available on iPad that aren't on the Play store? Yes, of course, but a good carpenter never blames his tools, and with expertise and talent you can do anything and everything on android apps that you can do on iOS apps - NO DOUBT. If you're already entrenched in the Apple 'eco-system'... Then pay the extra $500 to $1500... Unfortunately, Samsung's trade-in's aren't great this year... Two years ago I got the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD Tab S7 Plus in Mystic Navy it was $356 from Samsung with a Tab S4 Trade-In I got off ebay for $175, they gave me $400 trade-in credit, so my total cost from Samsung for the Tab S7 Plus was $531. I had zero intention of upgrading. Samsung then offered me more than I paid for the S7+ in trade, for a 16GB/512GB Ultra. They also gave me $200 credit towards accesories. It was kinda of a no-brainer, plus the 4-year OS updates and 5-years of security updates for $517.59. I absolutely love the Ultra, and have no intention of upgrading, especially since Samsung will only give me $650 for the trade-in of my Ultra and the total cost will be $750 for the 16GB/1TB version... Maybe next time, Sammy...

I’m a 30+ year graphic artist as well. The issue with switching is Procreate. It is as deeply-rooted in artists’ workflows on the iPad Pro as Photoshop is on a desktop computer. There are things about Procreate that other apps cannot replicate and it’s the reason we stick with iOS. Procreate is more customizable. It’s whole experience is “smoother”. It has nothing to do with the hardware that Samsung offers. Until that app comes to Android, artists just aren’t going to switch. I’ve tried Sketchbook, Krita, Infinite Painter and Mediabang and while nice, they’re just missing certain things that make Procreate better. And those things they are missing can be as simple as not being able to assign a certain feature to a gesture.

I did not know that the Galaxy Tab had a secondary display feature. But hearing that the inbuilt is bad and to get something good you have to pay $10 it is a bit of a turnoff. I have a MacBook Air and and iPad Pro myself, and probably my 2 most used features are the keyboard and mouse sharing and the feature where I use my iPad as a second display for my Mac. It is very convenient that with no setup at all except for being logged into the same Apple ID, I can just go and enable the second display feature in the top right menu with no problems. I do not care for paperlike though and I never understood why people do. I think it is something akin to a group mentality, where people feel it is necessary just because everybody does the same. But the expensive pen you have to buy is a smack in the face. I think it is really nice that Samsung includes it in the box. However it is a bit dumb that they seem to have removed the charging brick while apple still has not. Though I am very interested in the Samsung tablets, I have no intention to swap just because of how convenient it is here in the ecosystem. I own android phone and windows desktop. So I do have experience using a lot of different os at the same time, but the user experience I feel on apple is just on another level. If I was rich I would have fun swapping between Samsung and apple and all the big choices. But since I am not I have to choose the one I think I will most enjoy, since I am going to be using them for years upon years until they break, before I swap them again.

I've had the S8 Ultra for over a year now. I can't tell you if it's better than an iPad, but my laptop has been gathering dust since I bought it. The ability to put the pen on the back either way makes me jealous and want to upgrade. My only complaint with the S8 Ultra is that there's no palm rejection in Android, which drives me crazy and has resulted in the TouchPad being disabled most of the time.

I'm also able to do word processing and spreadsheet stuff easily. I'm not a hard-core gamer anymore, and there are plenty of games I can play on it to entertain myself. I've even connected an Xbox controller and played steam and Xbox live games on it. The performance isn't great on those, but it's playable for older titles.

I’m also still using the 12mini. I had a 5C back in the day and then had flagship google phones- nexus, pixel, pixel2xl, etc. and my primary reason for coming back into iOS “in the pocket” (meaning as my personal computer) is that much of my music creation apps are available and the people I interact with the most use iOS so it can really streamline certain kinds of digital communication and sharing. I’m still pretty heavily into the G ecosystem with smarthome stuff and android boxes but yeah, small phones are great, but would be better if they had things like Dex.

I loved when I had the tab S8, plus the biggest downfall was that even in DEX mode drag and drop of files between apps in android is not ubiquitous. A majority of the apps in the App Store were not forced to add the rich media file API from Android 12L to their Application breaking the magic of DEX mode with subpar non optimized apps and its desktop experience. it was never the App Store and its offerings. I found plenty of apps to get around all that - other little thing that really bothered me was how Google forced the tablet even in DEX mode to use the mobile apps instead of the Web apps, and the only browser that was able to get around that was Vivaldi.

On the iPhone mini: I got one because I wanted the smaller screen, but then apple seemed to do a legitimately terrible job adjusting iOS for the small screen size to the point where buttons would be appearing off screen and couldn’t be interacted with, making the phone a lot less usable. I absolutely love these giant tablets Samsung is making, and I would buy one today - if they would include a Thunderbolt Type-C port. So I could use this monster display as a second screen for my laptop, with no compromises to quality or latency (and with touch and pen). Without that, it’s too high of a price when it only connects with Wi-Fi or encoded USB connection. That would be a huge, no-question killer of iPad Pro to me, especially considering the pen has an actual physical button that can really work as a right-click on Windows. A true pro-tool.

It's probably good enough for people who really dislike iPad OS and desperately want an android tablet. I dont think there is any tablet yet that beats iPad at being a tablet. There are just more and better apps for iPad OS than for android tablets. Apple Pencil is also still better than any other pen I've used for tablets. And since the price is so high it's already competing with good surface options. Imo if you want a good tablet, get an iPad and if you want a good mix of tablet and laptop, get a surface. I wouldnt want to bother with DeX tbh.
