Thanks for showing me how to remove the top, my unit already had the angled lock bolts installed but you showed me how to remove the top, my wife somehow managed to lodge a white plastic cap out of her hand and into the slim passageway between the stainless drum and the tub, therefore, jamming it up from spinning freely. Samsung wanted to send a tech out for several hundred dollars to do the work but thanks to Dish Man I solved it in 45 minutes.

We have had our Samsung top load washer for a couple of years. In the 1st year, we had a balance issue (very common with Samsung washers, apparently). During a recent thunderstorm, we experienced 5 brown outs (mini outages), and prior to that, 4 outages due to unrepaired power grid issues (stupid energy company) since the Feb winter storm of Texas. We have had to replace the capacitor in our HVAC; our 55" TV started buzzing loudly; and now our washing machine main control panel is probably electrocuted/dead. Wet clothes have been stuck inside for 2 days and counting. We need to get them out before trashing the stupid Samsung washer. Going to try getting the top off, then buy a non-Samsung analog washer.

Wow. Ive done repairs for over 30 years. And i have never put my tools on top of an appliance unless theres a towel protecting the item. And you always have to run a test cycle with clothe. Might take a little longer, but will prevent a recall.

This past year in August 2017 after I called Samsung for a repair I need on my washer. I had found out that when Dish network repair guy who came in year 2016 he never repaired the recall of the top coming off the washing machine which he came & was supposed to do. Thank God my washer broke down a week before the Samsung extended warranty issued after the 2016 "repair". If not I would've never known it was never repaired in the first place even tho the repair guy was in my house for an hour and a half, essentially wasting time in 2016. They had to do the recall repair plus the repair i called them for. Thank God i didn't gave to pay them.

If it hasn't exploded it'll never explode is my mentality. God forbid you get a check back and spend it on a unit that 14 days after its warranty runs out has a control board issue.
@kamX-rz4uy7 жыл бұрын
Electronics like control boards, if they are going to fail, often fail early. The problem with these washers appears to be faulty/weak suspension rods. The likelihood of failure will increase over time. Hopefully Samsung will come up with an improved design and perform a real fix instead of just applying this band aid. We'll see what comes out of the class action lawsuits.

@kamX-rz4uy7 жыл бұрын
Sarah j. Whittington just don't overload it and if you notice excessive vibrations or it easily gets off balance replace the suspension rods. Hopefully Samsung will be required to do it in the near future.

I've had my Samsung Washer now for almost 2 years, a (recalled model) and it's never "exploded." Just recently, I've even gone as far as to recording my loads as they come and will be talking about ways to properly load the washing sometime in the future. I think the most important thing I'm trying to accomplish on my channel first is to show the washing machine in action so people can see that they do a GREAT job at cleaning. But, I know that I'll eventually get to recording tutorials on LOADING and MAINTAINING the washer. I'll be uploading full cycles with spin and rinse. So, if you're interested in purchasing a non recalled one, check out my first upload as I cover the active wear cycle. The following one is the quick wash.

Hope your machine works great still. For many of us, this machine is so much more trouble than it is worth. We were informed that we must be loading the machine too full by a repair person, and replied that we had filled it 75% as advised in the manual. Repair person replied that although the manual says that, you can really only fill it 1/2 way full. Why on earth would we buy such a big washer to fill only 1/2 way. As for energy efficient - loads that need to run for 3 hours are not efficient. And adding more water to rebalance (instead of having an owner manually adjust) is really completely off-base especially if you happen to live in any drought-stricken areas. We're siding with the "Never Buy Samsung Washer/Dryer Again" camp.

Thanks for posting! I've decided to have the repair done to mine also. I have the model with the built in sink that I bought in Sept. It hasn't given me any trouble so far and would hate to see it end up in a landfill. I did a review on it if anyone is interested.

No new overlay on the control knob. No new warning stickers. This was not done correctly. Without the overlay to tell you the new cycles, it still may blow up.

unfortunately the "repair " option does nothing to correct the problem of the machines going off balance. The only good this will do is stop the top from flying off. I seriously doubt Samsung's warranty will cover a machine that broke from going off balance. No more Samsung purchases for me!
@raidedoner7 жыл бұрын
David maclean So i think you are getting the DC error as well. So samsung has added a 1 year warranty on top of this so after the guy comes and installs the brackets then you call and claim the warranty for your off balance issue.
@davidmaclean47737 жыл бұрын
Erik Contreras Samsung is known for trying to weasel out of warranty issues. Not sure if they will be helpful for a off balance problem.

My machine has always run fine, and has never had vibration. Looking at this video it seems the pins are solid for stopping any side movement, but an unbalanced load may force the entire top strait upwards. The bent pin design is suppose to stop this, but really doesn't fix the issue, just makes it safe. Having a machine that can only be used on lower speeds is NOT a true fix. I looked at mine and you can see were the top lid and body of the meet. There is a flange you can see with a flashlight looking inside the washer; I added pan screws with nylocks (6), mine will never come off now. Bugger getting in that small space though.

I have one of these P.O.S washers and I want to know why the REAL ISSUE was not repaired!!!!!! Installing new screws and bolts to keep the top on does nothing to fix the issue, it just saves Samsung from having to pay for a lid flying off. Where is consumer affairs on this issue? It's a patch at best and that's a stretch calling it that.. Samsung should be held responsible for this wash repair not the consumers.... I bet if this was a golf cart issue congress would have passed law after law to have issues fixed since they seem to have time to play golf and not work.

I don't like the way they do the repair. #1 the new screws don't allow the top to sit flat on the base. therefore the spring clips will not hold as well. #2 he removed the plastic part (1:29) that provides some strength. #3 the new bar that is added has about 8 holes in it yet is only secured with 2 screws? I did the repair myself. I laid the new support bar on top of the machines edge and drilled 1/8" holes through the machines edge. then I put in the new curved peg and attached it by putting the reenforcement bar under the machines edge. I did NOT remove the plastic piece because it doesn't need to be removed, the new metal has a place for it. then I used 7 or 8 stainless steel 1/8" x 5/16" blind rivets on each side. I painted them with liquid rubber for extra protection, since I drilled holes, and maybe noise if the top rubs. the rivets do no create the gap like the screw and the load is across the whole bar, not just at the 2 screws. I feel it is much better job than the video and only took a couple extra minutes. had to let the rubber dry so I sprayed where the bar and back end of the rivets with a good coat of enamel for metal. I over engineer things but my stuff doesn't break. washed heavy bedding on normal and made it unbalanced on purpose. had spin set to the speed between normal and high. no problems at all. I wouldn't do it normally, but I wanted to test it as it should be. IMO it's not a fix when you slow the spin down and have soaking blankets that take 2 hours to dry. Never buying samsung ANYTHING again.
@Abel-nj7tp7 жыл бұрын
Anyway, you didn't fix the problem. Samsung reinforces the cage, so when the part that holds the drum to the bearing cage will break off, nobody will be hurt, the failure of the drum support is due to electrolysis, the drum material is stainless still and the support is a wiker metal and corrode or oxidate very fast. The centrifuge force created by the spinning cycle and the weigh of the cloth will do the rest.

Samsung sucks. If I put 2 towels in with my clothing, it will go off balance every time. I don’t know how many hundreds of gallons of water my machine has wasted trying to rebalance the load after the UR error. Don’t buy Samsung unless you are ok with washing one towel at a time.
