This 4k monitor is fantastic, with a great image and beautiful colors, not to mention the HDR feature. I bought it in January this year and with less than 3 months I had a problem with it on your command button. But this has already been resolved by Samsung. And so far I haven't had any more problems. And I'm interested in buying another one of this Samsung UR55 4k HDR without any fear. For me it was a great choice.

Bought this monitor a few days ago and so far I'm satisfied. Pretty clean vision and great colors for that price (250€). Only bad part I noticed is that you'll only be able to use 4K60hz HDR with the HDMI 2.0 ports. The monitor's supported DisplayPort version is 1.2. Not so sure why they added that low speed port which only supports the maximum of 4K60hz with 10bpc. Couldn't try HDMI either because my GPU does not support HDMI 2.0 or higher. I'm waiting for a new GPU and then I can hopefully try out HDR for the first ever time in my life. Won't replace the monitor anyways just in case HDR fails after all. Main reason I bought it is to get more space for my work and to enjoy some games in 4K. Great monitor!

Ahh that's for this Chopsticc! Great point though, definitely need to make sure the graphics card can do HDMI 2.0, seems to be a necessity these days!

DisplayPort does not have multiple cable designs; all DP cables have the same basic layout and wiring, and will support any feature including audio, daisy-chaining, G-Sync/FreeSync, HDR, and DSC. [...] DisplayPort cables are not classified by "version". Although cables are commonly labeled with version numbers, with HBR2 cables advertised as "DisplayPort 1.2 cables" for example, this notation is not permitted by VESA.[40] The use of version numbers with cables can seem to imply that a DisplayPort 1.4 display requires a "DisplayPort 1.4 cable", or that features introduced in DP 1.4 such as HDR or DSC will not function with older "DP 1.2 cables", when in reality neither of these are true. DisplayPort cables are classified only by their bandwidth certification level (RBR, HBR, HBR2, HBR3), if they have been certified at all.

@@tech.reviews Very confusing but 1.2 does support HDR and in fact 1.2 vs 1.4 DP cable aren't much different. They need to change their terminology, but in my testing the DP 1.2 on UR55 supports 4k60 HDR 10BPC Full RGB.

I just bought this and I can relate to that guy complaining. Im a designer and the colors in this are not perfect. I got "near" perfect going contrast almost 0 and brightness almost max... Had to change RGB values too. I expected more but on the other hand, this was one of the cheapest 4k monitors. YES, i recommend (because of the price), but beware... you need to tweak a lot.

Just to update. Im loving the monitor. No regrets. Just remember if you are using for design you will mess around a lot before you feel confortable. The presets are good only for people who want to watch oversaturated movies. Another thing is that the stand makes the monitor not be able to stay too close to a wall. If your desk is small and on a wall you might have trouble with space

Another thing. The button is a little tricky to push. (Its one single button but its like a gamepad directional with the funciont to also push in center...) If you turn off the monitor and come back, you need to push right in the center... I often try to push it and then need to re push just because I pushed to the top instead of center. Nothing much, just needed to put out there...

@@tech.reviews Yes, it is. It frequently goes on sale for $250 or less at Best Buy. I wouldn't mind "upgrading" to a 2880p, UHD IPS Black, or 40" 5k2k monitor, but those range in price from $600 to $1,800!!!

I got this monitor late last year and it’s been nice, and the display and colors are really great for this price point, but really only for casual use. The actual color accuracy is horrendous for professional use. I’ve attempted to adjust it but the color settings are so basic on this monitor that it’s still nowhere near perfect. Switching the color profile on my Mac for this monitor to Adobe RBG seemed to help the most, but colors still aren’t quite right and the color temp is significantly warmer than it should be. I may attempt to get a colorimeter to see if I can get it at least closer to matching my MacBook Pro, but I’ll most likely switch to an LG UltraFine display very soon.

Nice monitor, but I find the joystick button to be very difficult to use. Especially when setting up and selecting an input. Should provide more guidance, like the "Power LED On" setting is either "stand-by" or "working". What the heck do those actually mean?

I bought this monitor, and the resolution is extremely good for almost everything, editing, photoshop and youtube. Only thing is I can't downscale the monitor to 1080p or 1444p through the monitor's system. I know it's a 4k monitor, but it would be good to have such option. (I don't know if there is such thing in it, but it's a good monitor none the less)

You can only change resolution from your PC, can't be done from the monitor itself unfortunately.

Reset picture settings, disable HDR, and then restart and turn game mode on, and then change other picture settings. Game mode doesn't work when picture settings are a certain way!

If you have windows I believe you can change it form settings: settings then system and display and there is option turn HDR on or off, once you set it the monitor will auto adjust HDR mode (screen will be black for split sec), and you don't need to change anything in the monitors OSD.

Depends - it will always look better as the pixel density is much higher (smaller size display = more clear). However a 4K tv might have a higher refresh rate which would help. But generally it’ll be similar for similar size displays. Look at refresh rate, resolution, contrast ratio and HDR

Hey Ashton that's a great question as I have used both! They are both exceptional monitors and you won't be let down either way. Samsung's colours are fantastic and quick options like eye care can be switched on with two clicks. Samsung also has 3 years warranty if that's a consideration for you. Otherwise they're quire similar, both act incredibly well both with Freesync, Game Mode, PIP and so on. I guess if you want to be picky, the Samsung has a silver frame at the bottom vs. black on the LG, personal preference, but you can't go wrong either way! Hope this helps :)

Hi Nam, the LG is really only worth it if you want the adjustable stand. The UR55 does not go up and down, but apart from that, if you don’t really care about that, then save $100 and you'll be very pleased I think!

I think it needs to be turned on via Windows - supposedly Win 11 better at dealing with HDR, but not too sure if it's emulating HDR or true HDR, need to look into it a bit, don't want you getting that fake HDR washed out look!

It does not charge sadly. Google says "if you hook up the monitor through displayport and your GPU supports it, you can pass through USB connectivity to them, which can be convenient."

Hi, not sure if you'll be able to help but amazing if you can, I use this monitor mostly for my xbox one x, but when i use HDR my games go really dim, With SDR everything is normally bright and colours look really good, but with hdr its almost like Eco save is locked on but the setting is off

My first thoughts are, are you using a HDMI 2.0 cable? Otherwise it might need calibrating, look into Xbox One X and see if there are some settings you can play around with. Otherwise try the settings of the monitor itself, there are a heap of modes! Keep me updated if you have any luck, I'm sure many others will appreciate your input :)

Thank your for the reply :) i am using the HDMI that came with the One x, believe the port on xbox one is hdmi 2.0a, ive tried adjusting some settings on both the Monitor and one X but had no luck unfortunately, is there a way to toggle HDR on and off through the monitor as ive not found a setting that does that, also when HDR is turned on the Xbox its locks ane greys out settings on the monitor like game mode and Hdmi black level, all i can change is brightness and contrast

I have not tested Netflix on PS4, a few things to try troubleshoot: You need the Ultra HD Netflix plan to get HDR. The streaming device (PS4) would also need to support HDR. Set streaming quality to "High" and make sure the content/movie is HDR compatible. That's the best I can do for you!

I believe they are 60hz, make sure your computer has a HDMI 2.0 input though, hdmi 1.4 can only do 4k @30hz.

@@Angstreaper1 I personnaly chose to return them and I tested a few more displayed in a staples and they all do that. The only solution to rest your eyes is to lower the brightness to about 50-60 and maybe try the "eye rest" setting that makes the screen faded and yellow.

Good question! Obviously at least 60fps. But remember that frame rate and refresh rate are different. So yes it's a 60hz monitor, but I'm not 100% certain if it could go above 60fps, will need to look into this!

How do you turn the hdr off

If you have windows I believe you can change it form settings: settings then system and display and there is option turn HDR on or off, once you set it the monitor will auto adjust HDR mode (screen will be black for split sec), and you don't need to change anything in the monitors OSD.

Hey Scott, HDR does work, but some people have noted that it may be a bit too dark, and with HDR off it's still great, test it out and see if you prefer!

@@tech.reviews yeah thx, I have 2 Acer Predator 1080p 240hz, 1 is hdr, it had the same issue this samsung did with everything being washed out as well. But this LG, my god, colors in hdr are so vibrant. But their stands are trash, I am ordering a swivel stand to change it out with.
