Thanks for this, I got the part for £35. Saved me £500 on a new machine. As others have said putting the door seal back on is an absolute pig and I agree. I ended up laying machine on its back so I could access the top and bottom and also removed the concrete blocks so I could get my hands every where. Blocks are able to be put back on after seal is installed. Thanks again 👍

Before obvious failure were you getting bits of aluminum in the filter element? I was. Little chunks, dark in color, almost black and 1/8 to 1/16 inch in size. Machine was bought used and I wonder if they knew what was coming... If this is common it's a good symptom to look for as there was no clunking or banging at that time just bad water draining due to a clogged filter. Has anyone else seen this?

Hi, great video. I have just had a repair guy out who wobbled the drum and gave it a spin. He instantly said it required both a new tub and drum. The tub and drum for my machine are no longer available. I understand it’s likely just the spider and bearing/seal that needs replacing? Are they suggesting full drum and tub replacement as it’s easier/less labour intensive?

Hi Xander, obviously easier to fit a whole unit than messing about with Spiders and Bearings + I think they have to repair so many per day. @@green-crocs-fixes1520 Abuse of liquid detergents and fabric softeners, combined with excessive use of low temperatures and short washing programs, accelerates bearing and spider failure more than overloads and unbalanced spins. Wash at higher temperatures, using standard cycles instead of short ones and with powder detergents where possible. Also, you can use citric acid properly diluted in water instead of fabric softener. You can also use it to clean the machine periodically (every two or three months), pouring 150-200 gr. in it and running the highest temperature cycle without prewash, generally Cottons 90 °C. I think the design has to change. The problem is that the torque has to be distrubuted uniformly to the inner drum and hence the spider unit. The next problem is that the spider unit will always remain exposed to the highly corrosive water. Alternatively the inner drum has to be super strong and super expensive which wouldnt make sense. So one solution is only to make the spider unit as anti corrosive as possible which would be expensive or the make the drum as a rotor in a contactless motor similar to a aquarium water filter motor. There should be some other way also. But currenly its pathetic.

@@frankie3591 search for James fixit and shaky spider. Guy there with a Samsung too. Except instead of 3 years his lasted 13. So tell me how do you use your machine? What detergent you use and how much. How many hot washes a month. Maintenance washes how many times a year. Do you leave the door open after every wash.

Is this where all the “sand” and dark “rocks” came from that appeared on the outside bottom of my Samsung washer? Just chipped off and grinded dust from the spider? Looks like it’s made from zinc or aluminum. Why do they make such an essential part out of such a weak material? To ensure you have to buy another one?

Hi Dark Horse, I think they use some form of Aluminium / Alloy as this has to withstand hot water and soap. A Stainless Steel Spider would cost too much to manufacture I would imagine. Regards.
