If you look at the drain during each part of the test the Pixel gets killed during the web browsing test because of its inefficient first gen LTPO display. Later generation LTPO displays have much less battery drain when displaying white backgrounds so hopefully this will be resolved with the Pixel 8 Pro even if the Tensor G3 can't match the Snapdragon Gen 2 for overall power efficiency.

The same applies to the S23U, only 30 mins more than Flip 5 with a 1300mAh extra. That is more to do with foldable having more efficient displays so I would not judge that, otherwise, the S23U is also shameful. The S23U only beat the Pixel 40 mins and I would say for a 2021 Tensor versus the latest and greatest SD8G2 in the S23U I would be very disappointed with the S23U and very happy with the Pixel.

Z fold 5 gains half an hour on the Z fold 4 from your test last year which is quite impressive given its got the same size battery and a more powerful screen. It's nearly 2 hours longer than your test for the Z fold 3 which I have. That in itself is making me think about upgrading.

Relatively it was not bad as only 40 mins behind the S23U with a 2023 chip, when the Tensor 2 is an Exynos from 2021. I think sensible people will say that the Pixel did really well and the S23U was surprisingly less than 8% better!

Don't forget that when the screen is open on the Z Fold5 it consumes more battery than using it in the normal way like a regular smartphone. So if you don't constantly use it open, the battery life will be even better.

You also have to think that this is "best case scenario", in the real world you have whether you'll be on wifi or cellular, cell tower distance, heat, number of users on the cell tower, thickness of the building you're in, the distance from router or repeater, etc, so this number might be significantly lower

That's why bigger phones always last longer even if they have only 10% more battery but twice the amount of pixels. 1) The Fold 5 is open in tablet form, which is a massive drain on battery. 2) New devices take a week to a month to learn battery usage and adjust. i want to give techdroider advice on what he could do a bit better on his videos. put the battery percentage underneath the phones while they play a video on youtube or when the phones have games open so you can actually see how fast its draining between the others. another thing is. put the time of when it dies underneath the phone while the other phones are still alive after youve turned them around. and you dont necessarily need to have the MAh shown the whole video. if you show the MAh at the beginning on the video its fine. do however keep the phone names above the phones the whole time so people know which phone is which. but for the rest its an awesome video and i love watching your videos a lot. im just giving advice

That myth has been busted so many times. Only native displays will improve battery life, so if the S23U ran at 1080p using the current display it would make little difference. Samsung decided to run at QHD so that is that. It is overkill as the iPhone has retina which is the level where you cannot differentiate pixels, obviously, Apple decided having QHD would just be for flexing and would make for worse battery life. As for the S23+, that should have a retina display like the iPhone which is half way between FHD+ and QHD.

Yeah. And everyone talks about the bloat on Samsung phones and while Pixel phones have less bloat. Clearly that doesn't matter in a battery test. However, my Pixel 7 pro does just fine as long as I'm not playing games or constantly watching videos on it. That's when I see the battery really start to drain quickly. But with normal social media and browsing, the battery is enough for me. Fortunately, there's more to a phone than just how long the battery lasts. We don't buy phones just based on battery life. It's only one piece of the puzzle. I did have issues with it overheating until I disabled most apps from running in the background and using data in the background.

How can his s23 ultra last for 10 hours and 50 mins? In the real world use, mine lasted for 6 to 7 hours only

My last year s22 plus only last 8 hrs in test like these real life i get 5 to 6 hrs sot with gaming with100 % on 5g gps on and aod at default settings charges in 68 min from 25 watt charger first 50 % in 30 min i also have 45 watt which takes 60 min for full charge but in first 30 min charges 70 to 80 %
