This is because consumers are not educated and buy phones (especially android phones) based on the specs. Also, new phones are constantly coming out, with poorly optimized software. I honestly would not mind a new phone with last year's specs but super refined software. There's barely any perceivable difference for the average consumer between this year's specs, and last year's specs. This phone right here is just e-waste, nothing else.

Thanks Jared, great review and despite the unpredictable photos it looks like a decent phone.. I still really dig Xiaomi phones. I still have a Redmi Note 4X that I use occasionally for KZbin and email etc. I've rooted it and it's running Android 9 and while It's as old as ever by today's standards but still nice looking hardware.

After 6 months using the previous model, the Xiaomi 11T, my wife got tired of the inconsintent camera results, oversaturated colors and focus hunting... she switched to the Oneplus Nord 2 which is a cheaper model with the same chip and Sony imx766 sensor and the results are way, way better. That said, the 11T was a battery powerhorse and the screen and speakers were very good, it's a shame that Xiaomi doesn't put more effort on the camera optimization
