Best standalone episode of the show. It encapsulates everything samurai champloo does so well while managing to tell a compelling love story with mere minutes of dialogue between the characters. You don’t need an excess of time or backstory to build compelling characters, sometimes all it takes is some nujabes.
@paulozhan6 жыл бұрын
This was probably one of the best episodes in the entire show. The episode starts on a very depressing note, no music, just rain, and two people talking on a bridge, a woman potentially thinking about taking her own life. The episode ends with a rescue scene, to the tune of one of the best songs in the OST, a heartbreaking and sudden goodbye, and a woman getting back her own life.

Do you want some good news about the final conclusion... In the final episode of the series, they show montages of everyone going their ways. You see Jin walking by this same river bank in his final scene in the montages. Which leads me to believe, he came back and is waiting for her.

While the episode ends on a bitter sweet note, I think they will eventually have their happy ending. Shino said the refuge for positiutes would be able to keep her safe for 3 years, after which she would be legally free. So, in 3 years time, Jin and Shino will reunite. ♥️
@ingvanya2 жыл бұрын
Its not a refuge for prostitutes, its a Buddhist 'divorce temple'. Back before there were formal laws allowing a woman to divorce her (especially abusive) husband in Japan, these existed. They were a place a woman who wanted a divorce had to stay for 3 years, then she was legally free of the marriage. It was essentially the place that protected women like Shino in those times. (She got sold into prostitution by her shithead abusive husband to pay back his gambling debts.)

Shino's theme is just the song that plays on this chapter. Some fan removed the voices and looped the song and called it Shino's Theme. Counting stars is the original song (which is a version of Affirmation by Jose Feliciano). Than he did this version for Samurai Champloo, both are the same, but SC is a little bit versioned.
