Just got mine. I think that extra piece is for those who have smaller hands and don't want the bigger piece on the top part but still have a grip on the top for fingers. I just put the grips on my nomal black launcher and will use the cord in that just in case it does damage cords. Also, I use that grip for my string launcher and left string launcher, so it's just easier to swap the 3 launcher types on that one grip.

Thanks so much!!! I find 2-70, and 2-60 to be okay in SOME combos, mainly a lot of 4 sided blades like Scythe or Rhino. Very niche imo but it's definitely usable to some extent.
