I attained Purple belt under Sensei Darren (Super Human) at Sunshine Dojo & competed in a few tournaments winning half a dozen 2nd & 3rd trophies for Kumite & Kata. They are very educated friendly helpful & supportive. Before I decided to give them a go I was in a very dark place in my life hiding under my mask of normality while pathetically drowning in tears & self hatred, I smoked cigarettes heavily I also smoked marijuana & drank alcohol, I have clinical depression failed suicide twice & I also have Idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) which made me feel broken & useless as a human being. I'm a very shy & awkward person & have lots of trouble integrating & socializing but I new I had to change my life or "shuffle off this mortal coil". I bit the bullet & said to myself "F it my life can't get much worse & I might learn something in the process". What I wasn't expecting was that as I trained not only was I learning Karate but I was leaning about myself & what I can accomplish if I set my mind to something & defy that negative devil on my shoulder. I ended up leaving as my depression reemerged with a vengeance but by the end I had gone from 55kg skin & bones to almost 80kg of athletic muscle & now had the mental tools to fight my war with depression & I do every day but it never wins anymore, I don't smoke or drink anymore & I experience contentment with life & sometimes even true happiness. I can truly state, Samurai Karate made me a stronger better person physically & mentally & quite literally saved my life. Thankyou Darren & every kind soul at Samurai 👊❤🙏 PS, Clear the dance floor 😉👌
