In episode 2, we review some of the more common zukuri in the order in which they appear. Tsukurikomi can be roughly translated as "manufacturing" and relates to the structure of a sword as it is constructed. Special thank you to the community members that contributed photos to this episode! ‪@gargoylesblade‬ ‪@Matthew_Jensen‬ and www. / arbladeworks

Thank you for the kind words! It definitely is a lot of info but that’s the beauty of KZbin right?

Great vid, man. Another thing to add about the shobu is that the spine slims out from the ridge. The depth of the slimming will determine the placement of the shinogi termination. A fav shape for thrusting with the sleek tip

Great video, there are so many different types of styles, like the combination of a kiriha zukuri and a shobu zukuri. Would love to see someone get one of those done, to see how they perform.

That’s a tough question because it’s your sword! “Tamahagane” construction is not inexpensive, as a result and if it were me, I would only cut the types of targets it was origin intended to cut like proper tatami mats. But that’s just what I would do.
