Amakusa was a culture shock to me. He deserves one of the most stylish boss because of his unique and strange appearence(kabuki makeup, weird speech and some siddham characters in his stage..everything reminds me an image of Japanese visual-kei musician)

Amakusa was an actual historical figure and a man, or more accurately a boy since he was executed at 17. He led a failed rebellion against the Shogun. Stories about him say he had magical powers granted by the god of his religion, but what the game carefully avoids mentioning is that his religion was Christianity, as his parents were converted to Catholicism by Portuguese missionaries before the Shogunate kicked the Portuguese out of Japan. Like Jesus, legend says Amakusa is going to return someday to lead the Japanese to Heaven. That's what is really going on in the story of Samurai Shodown 1 when he says he's awakened from 150 years of sleep, and why in Samurai Shodown 4 the characters travel to the castle at Shimabara, where the real Amakusa and his followers made their last stand before being slaughtered. He's often depicted as androgynous because his followers described him as a beautiful boy, but they probably meant his holiness rather than his appearance. There's a statue of him in his home prefecture where he looks like the sort of slightly chubby teen who would've asked his parents for coins for the Neo Geo machine.

Yea back in the early 90's it was HARD to outdo SF and MK in terms of popularity. But SamSho was third behind tho two in terms of popular fighting games at the time. Personally i've always liked it way more than MK and just as much as i liked SF. It deserves to be far more popular than it is nowadays.

The debut of a real Issen mechanic in a fighting game. A samurai fighting game. Rage explosion to stop the clock. In a fighting game. 14 slash combo, hella enjoyable and stylish way to fill up rage, stylish but never felt overpowered. This was the absolute pinacle of a 2D sword fighting game.

Yes, yes. I love the weird balance in that game. Eventhough the kazama brothers made it to the newest title, it hasnt been the same. The bust or Rasetsu version of Kazuki, that wall bounce combo, that finisher, amazing. The shura version of Sogetsu, his heavy slash water geyser has stupid amount of +frame on block - he touch you with one of those, that round is closed.

Nah. SC VI and SamSho are apples to oranges. It's a horizontal 2d fighter, as samsho had a lukewarm reception when they tried to go 3d arena with Zen. SC VI achieved what it wanted to be and stands by itself.

He is. "Inoshikachō" (i.e. boar-deer-butterfly) is a winning combination in the hanafuda card game (i.e. flower cards) that both Genjuro's special moves and the Naruto series are referencing. It's comparable to something like a full house or flush in poker.

when i played samurai shodown at the arcade i had a trick to win amakusa with a perfect. All I had to do was give him the first hit then retreat and keep mashing the button. He kept jumping until the clock ended. All the people surrounding me were "WOW"...That is until the second round where he kicked my @ss lol. Good times :)

Samurai showdown 4. Has No balance character Example jinjuro. Has infinite moves by attacking you at the back by --> --> + B again & again till u die And Galford bust no sword , attacking you at the back with electric knuckle till you die Hanzo biginer mode. In Samurai Shodown II , if you choose level 8 , I 'm sure you cannot kill Mizuki easily like that . I used to play all of characters in SS2 , at level 8 maximum , and win Mizuki .
