hello from the province of Pontassieve, in Florence, Italy, I have a Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 with m13a 1.3 LT petrol engine, 2001, all original, which I use for off-road on rural and forest roads, and I see that my Suzuki Jimmy 4x4, even if ! it is original in the countryside, on the dirt roads of rural farms and on the forest roads where loggers often take the wood from the forest with their forest tractors, skidders and forwarders, it feels very good on these tracks, even if it is all original and not ready for extreme off-road, but with the right mud tires it copes very well with off-road and forest roads, even in the presence of mud !

I have recently acquired a Samurai that has a lot of nice mods, sadly one of those mods was a broken piston skirt so I'm in the process of getting that fixed. Definitely my all time favorite 4wd.
@HendriMouton Жыл бұрын
That's unfortunately a G13BA thing. Cylinders bores wear oval and the pistons start rocking. I did a complete rebuild on mine before I swapped it out for the G16A

Gday Hendri. Just wondering if you had to change the transfer case to get the 4.16 gearing? I've read about blokes changing to sj410 or widetrack cases to get the gearing they wanted, but haven't yet worked out if the sj80 case can be re-geared. Cheers

Hendri Mouton Hey, sorry for many questions but, what is the wheel size and offset, I assume they are 15x7 as most of the modular designs tend to be? Did you need any bumper trimming? I have a VVT gen 2 jimny, looking to fit BFG KO2s 215/75r15 on 15x7et-15 modulars with 2" lift, trying to figure out if they will rub, getting mixed opinions, many saying the wider offsets catch under articulation. Thanks

I really love the look of the samurai... would you recommend it as a daily driver as well as a mild offroader? (I live in a rual area with lots of gravel roads, but about an hour away is a city (techanally a town but 30k people is a lot for me lol) and I think its a nice, cheap car, to learn how to drive in. But judging as its old i'm thinking lots of maintenance, and lots of gas refills. Is this correct?
@HendriMouton3 жыл бұрын
They're great little 4wds but even the latest model is already 25+ years old now. I would rather look into the Gen3 Jimny if you're going to use it for daily driving. For a 2nd vehicle, definitely
@globalcitizen83212 жыл бұрын
This Suzuki small Offroaders are cheap to repair. They are also so simple that they rarely brake down unless you do something really extreme. Have an 89 Suzuki Vitara (gen 1), it is very reliable and cheap to operate. Though little vehicle.

In stock situattion which is better jimny or samurai???
@HendriMouton4 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. These would be pretty close when stock but the Samurai is slightly lighter which is good for soft sand and mud. The Jimny has more power but the low gearing on the Samurai is slightly better. Jimny has a better suspension setup from factory and the power steering makes a big difference when the tyres are deflated.
