The Bakumatsu era, marked by the turbulence caused by Satsuma samurai aiming to topple the shogunate, threatened the lives of commoners. Shou (played by Kaito Yoshimura), a practitioner of Ryukyuan martial arts, found himself washed ashore in Edo, a city shrouded in uneasy atmosphere, after a dispute with the samurai Takamasu (portrayed by Takamasa Suga).
