@@see.eye.2361 I heard that in the Japanese version of Other M, she's more so refusing to activate the features of her suit until absolutely necessary, and the whole time Adam is questioning her choices on not going in with useful upgrades, and when she finally enables upgrade features, Adam either has to order her to use them, or questions her ability to make good choices and she reluctantly enables the feature. I have no idea if this is true or not, I've not played Other M nor can I understand written / spoken Japanese well enough, but that kind of sounds like the rebellious personality she would have, especially if it takes place anywhere specific on the timeline.

@@kamenrideraquarius According to the manga she spent 11 years with them and was 14 when she joined the feds (yep very young that's a whole other argument) and I'm guessing that she still had a few interactions with the Chozo although she was mostly surrounded by humans speaking human languages (or the universal language spoken amongst species which I'm guessing is English) by the time she was a bounty hunter (I reckon she left the feds around the age of 18 because she describes herself as being a child when leaving the federation in other M - which is canon) the chozo has all vanished (and I'm willing to guess that at that point the civil war took place) and I think when she was around the age of 21, zero mission starts and there are no chozo remaining. I'm taking a wild guess to say that she's in her early-mid 30's in dread (based upon the time difference in the prime games and later games) so for the absolute fun of it I'm going to say 35 ;) and she has had little/no need to speak the chozo language. All the inscriptions in the prime games were translated into English and I don't think there were any notable inscriptions in the 2d games. By other M, the chozo isn't even on her mind. (feel free to argue that one I'm not sure how strong of a point that is) So, I'm trying to say that yeah maybe its her preferred language as she grew up speaking it in her developing years but she's definitely spoken more English. English is my first language too but I grew up with a mix of English and another language. Since I've been surrounded by more English speakers, I like to see it as my preferred language. Think of it like that. Plus, we only heard her say one line in chozo and that doesn't prove she's fluent in it. In other M, she speaks English and adds a ton of fancy terminology proving that she's fluent in English. Coming back to myself as an example, I can understand my native language VERY well, much like her, but I do stutter and struggle to find words at points if I'm in a huge convo - something that we didn't get the chance to see with her. loll I realise I basically wrote an essay sorry I'm too invested in this lore and sorry for making too many other M references but like it or not its still got some quality lore in it.

To all people who are discovering Nikki through Samus. She has a lot of experience as voice actor and singer in Spain. I specially recommend her rendition to "Speechless" from the "Aladdin" live action Remake, titled "No callaré" in Spanish. Check it out, it's powerful stuff! Y por supuesto, felicidades, Nikki. Este es un personaje muy querido que acaba de salir de un bache de más de una década, así que imagino que la presión debió de ser enorme, a pesar de que no son más que un par de frases. Pero a veces, las cosas pequeñas dejan una huella enorme. :)

I love that she spoke at all, even if only once! And your portrayal of her was amazing! I, like many, certainly don't want another Other M scenario, so I understand why they may have been afraid to have more spoken lines. But honestly, something more akin to Fusion would have been perfect. Or even the couple of paragraphs at the end of Zero mission. If Samus needed to speak in any game, it was this one. So much life altering stuff happened to her in this game, and everybody had something to say about it besides her. It's a small gripe, but it's the only thing so far that I have to gripe about in this masterpiece of a game ^~^ It would have been wonderful to hear how Samus felt about all the things going on here! Especially with a strong, confident voice, and lines that don't portray her as the exact opposite of what fans would expect. BUT for what we got, I am more than thrilled!

I'm confused as to whether people hate the characterization of "Other M Samus" or just whoever voiced her? From what I've heard, Other M was meant to take place in the continuity of a manga based on metroid, which was from a long time ago so it was unlikely that anyone who only played the games would be familiar with it

And the manga is set before the games, with a inexperienced teenage Samus, and ends with her being a mature woman leaving the Federation to be a solo mercenary. Other M is set between Super and Fusion, so Samus regressing to a teenaged personality didn't made any sense.

She has all of 3 lines recorded for Brawl and they keep being recycled all the way to Ultimate. As far as I know no new spoken lines were recorded for Samus from Brawl in 2008 until Dread in 2021 with the exception of Other M which I wish I could will into non existence.
