I've had pudendal neuralgia since a very difficult childbirth 49 years ago. I developed severe SI joint pain and sciatica in 2021 after a very difficult cold turkey benzo withdrawal as doc didn't know about tapering. The sciatica finally receded after 6 months, but the SI pain is alive and well, along with the pudendal nerve issue. Last year I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy. All of this makes for a pretty unhappy gramma and I'm searching for answers to fix it all so I can get back to my family. Any suggestions, doctor?

If anyone tries to say that the SI joints can't cause pain, I would invite them to experience life in my body. My joints pop multiple times a day and it's always such a relief when they do.
@SamVisnic Жыл бұрын
Its not that they "can't" cause pain, but research is clear its extremely difficult to accurately attribute pain to these joints, and in my experience very often its the surrounding structures, soft tissues, etc. that are at cause.

As a chiropractor of 10 years I can tell you that SI joints can certainly cause pain, sometimes debilitating and though is often due to weakend ligaments and poor core involving tight hamstrings and psoas/iliopsoas the joint line is where the inflammation comes from and hence the pain.

I wish I would have watched this months ago! I've been struggling with SI Joint pain, even through Physical Therapy treatment. Often sleeping at night seems to make it feel worse. 2 nights ago I woke up suddenly to what felt like my lower back muscles all seized up very painfully and I was unable to move for a few minutes. Yikes! I'm looking forward to implementing some of your tips while I continue treatment.

I’ve had SI joint pain in my right joint for over 3 years now. It hurts when I sit down for extended periods of time and has periods of being just unbearable at night. I had a bunch of blood tests done for arthritis and AS which came back normal. Waiting for my doctor to book in a follow up. My health anxiety is just off the charts, constantly googling if I have bone cancer or something really wrong with me. Thank you for your video, I’m still in discomfort but much less so following your tips!

I know what you say, same worries. I ended up with SIJ fusion. But initially my muscles were so tight as in over protecting ( chiropractor said) it’s worth seeing a physio or chiropractor to release that tension - it really helped me but in the end not enough.

my symptoms are the same as yours, ive been through all the diagnostic tests for arthritis also and my bloods came back "normal" but they found inflammation in my sacroiliac joints through xray and mri. ive joined multiple arthritis groups on facebook and it's very common to have "normal" blood work while showing all symptoms. just to let you know this is a thing that can totally happen!

Get a piece of firm foam as a mattress topper. Carefully locate the spot of pain and cut a small circle out of the foam there. Start small, you can always enlarge the hole. This should give you relief.

I have noticeable loss in my left glute where my Pirformis muscle is, but it’s been confirmed my SI joint is a problem. I have ehlers Danlos syndrome, before I was diagnosed I had already gone through 2 ankle reconstruction surgeries on opposite side of my hip. After that surgery is when my hip started to hurt, likely from the scooter and crutches. I guess putting to much weight on that side for so long.I also have hip dysplasia but my surgeon said he wasn’t concerned about it. I fear the hEDS is my problem.

Great video Dr! I have one question, I have left SI joint pain right now due to a minor flare up. When I do certain stretches:strengthening exercises, my pain gets relieved. Only problem is, when I sleep at night, I am a side sleeper (with pillow between my legs) and tend to toss and turn on both sides. When I do so, that is when I experience the most pain. Is there anyway to stop the pain from happening when moving and turning in sleep??? I’ve slept with my Serola belt with some relief but not sure if it’s right to sleep with it on? Thanks so much!
@SamVisnic Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Generally, since the SI joint itself moves very little (if at all), I would consider the irritation potentially coming from the lumbar spine if the leg bolster is in place. What I used to recommend for this for my clients that roll around at night is a "Mckenzie Night roll". It looks like a soft tube pillow that can be tied around the waist, so it stays put when moving around at night. Take a look.

As a side sleeper, I've noticed that I tend to twist my hips too much, which is demonstrated by the skeletons position before the foam pads were placed between the knees. My left SI joint is painful to even touch due to my sleeping position. I used to be able to ''crack'' my SI joint, but no longer-it is now fully ''fixed'' and the tension in the joint is sometimes very uncomfortable. I cracked the joint from about the age of 12 until my mid 30's but it will not move at all now.
