Another amazing video. Thank you for making these wonderful videos. They have provided tremendous help for my anatomy and physiology students, and for me! This is also quite relevant to pianists and other musicians who need manual dexterity.

Super cool video, I cut through my flexor tendon in my index finger and couldn’t move my finger at all, but the OR* was able to reconstruct the structures and through PT I was able to regain most of the mobility in my index finger. There still is a lack of “slide and glide” of the tendon due to scar tissue but at least I can use my finger still! It’s crazy because the surgeon had to cut all the way down into my hand to recover the tendon because of the tension it was under it ended up resting below the finger

Thank you for the explanation, I injured my A1 pulley on the little finger and this video gives me a better idea of what is going on.

Would you be able to direct me to a more detailed video elsewhere, or books or articles on how precisely this set of 'pulleys' work in conjunction..? Why they are the sizes they are and why the A2 gets hammered the most..? I mean, it would be helpful to have a model of the pulleys themselves. It confuses me to think we can have annular pulleys. How do they work, what do they pull..? I was hoping to find some information on the role of the sesamoids in these pulley structures. Another question: Which parts should we be using in what order..? You presume it's the extra weight in climbing which stresses the A2 but what if it's to do with misuse or mis-ordering the functional mechanics, as in not securing the smaller bits before the larger, analogous to landing on one's knee instead of foot when running..?

Brilliant explanation of the anatomy of our fingers. I've severed the two tendons on my fingers of my right hand, little and trigger finger. Had the operation to fix them, but whether I get full movement again is anyone's guess. Thanks for the video.

After chemo i would wake at night and find my middle finger movements jerking from extended to clenched and also the other way. Rather than a smooth movement. I’ve been trying to find out what might cause it. No clicking just a jerk from one position to the next.

Sam, have you a video exploring the left hand pinky finger as when I was at work last month I cut my pinky on the side of the last knuckle from the the tip. I taped it all up as it was deep and bleeding, fast forward a month and my cut has completely healed however I'm still in a world of pain when gripping things, I just wonder if I have done any damage deeper down. Thanks 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👌❤️

I just got a cortisone injection for trigger thumb. It is not stuck or really clicking but painful and doctor and I can feel it. I go back in 2 months to see how it is. This is 2nd shot. Plus I had cmc surgery in May and this has been one of my roadblocks. He said most likely I will need the surgery. But I also feel bump at a2 pully. ? It is in the Palmer side just above joint. It is sensitive to the touch. He didn’t say what it could be just was having me bend that joint and asking if bending hurts. It does not hurt when bending if I grasp something yikes…bothersome don’t know if inflammation is extending that far up. I did have nerve irritation from surgery but site is ok now, just pain with pinching motion, buttoning, tying small things. Can’t play my guitar for a while now.😞

@@SamWebster thanks always through explanations for the lay person. Some of us have a need to know what’s going on. FYI you helped me self diagnosed a problem with a pinched illiogastrich nerv T8???. Three local doctors could not diagnose.
