An underrated benefit of this for the Spurs is that Fox will take a lot of the offensive burden off Wemby's hands. He usually has to be the best offensive AND defensive player for us to have a chance to win. This has led to him being gassed in the 4th.
@kwakumadridista19163 күн бұрын
That sucks though, defensively his floor is already so high, I don't want him turning into a Gobert type player Offense why was he wsa so hyped, the handling, the shooting, the interior dominance Go get some switchable size, shooting and rebounding on this team asap
@theheebs1003 күн бұрын
@kwakumadridista1916 Wemby is going to be better on offense when he is initiating less and playing in the flow of an offense. He is a player that you can give the ball to on possessions, but opportunistically taking advantage of his size more is going to skyrocket his efficiency and ability to give 32 full minutes.

@@MaelstromEnergy Fox has been dealing with an injured hand. Also he has complained about having to do too much all year. Monk Keegan Sabonis DeMar have all stepped up to ease Fox's load and yet he still struggled, made costly mistakes at end of game situations all the time. Sabonis is an underrated MVP candidate averaging nearly triple double numbers nightly. Don't call these Kings Chicago Bulls 2.0 Not to mention Keegan and Keon Ellis coming to form. I feel like now that this Fox distraction is over, the Kings can get back to work and they are going to start winning again.

Sorry I have to correct a mistake made in this episode. Kirk or Kurt, I don't know his name, says that De'aaron fox has never shot 37 or 38% before but that's actually not true. He's shot 37% twice if you count the 36.9 from 2 years ago and the 37 percent from his second or third year. Actually if you look back at that 23 - 24 season he averaged nearly 27 points and almost 37% from the 3-point line. He's definitely able to start hitting 3's at a higher number he just hasn't done that in Sacramento all that much. He will be asked to shoot more threes and to hit more threes in San Antonio.
@snapsnap343 күн бұрын
Leverage is the reason Fox basically said he was going to sign on 15 months for the spurs, so that immediately brings that value down for the kings. A team would've had to gamble that they could change his mind once in the organization. which is a huge unknown

Great trade. They don’t even need to tank because they have the Hawks picks to tank for them. Hawks pick will be lottery this year, and a swap that might be in the lottery in 2026, and might be in the lottery in 2027. Plus have their own picks this year and every year except 2027.
@TheMilitiaGuy3 күн бұрын
GM Brian Wright knew Spurs were in the driver's seat. Told teams Castle and Hawks picks were off limits. But to get a player like Fox AND not have to give up either Vassell, Johnson, Sochan, or Castle? That's gold! AND they even got rid of that awful Zach Collins contract. Wright wins GM of the Year and CP3 gets to stay in SA and is chomping at the bit knowing he doesn’t have to play heavy minutes. He comes off the bench to play against the opponent's backup PG. Crunch time lineup is Wemby-Sochan-Castle-Fox-CP3. That’s offense AND a stifling defense b/c of the first three on that list.

Imagine if the Spurs luck out at this year’s draft. To think they will have two possible lottery picks.
@frankenviews40693 күн бұрын
The main knock on Wemby is his frail frame. Thicker heavier centers (Jokic, etc) will exploit this. And since it doesn't look like Vic is giving in to the pressure to bulk up, speed is the way to go. Fox is the fastest in the league. Vic's light frame and long strides will get him end to end in a few steps. This fast pace will run heavier players out of the game. It will also keep the banging on Wemby's body to a minimum.
@nelsonanthoine62933 күн бұрын
@@frankenviews4069 Astute observation. Fox will help with faster play. Both the Kings and Spurs, but not the Bulls, will be better for next year and a half from this trade, and draft picks could make them even better. Kings needed picks, and can trade them now for a Good, defensive wing (same need as Spurs).
@fallenshallrise3 күн бұрын
Agreed. The geometry says if the other guy is in contact the big man has to be bulky to hold their ground so they aren't shoved too far out of range to contest the shot. Wemby just stands 2 feet away, keeps his balance and with his reach is still in range to block it anyway. Finesse and speed are his friends for sure. Also love how Jokic or Lebron will sometimes just decide to football pass from the baseline instead of running end to end. Would love to see Wemby pick up this skill outletting to Fox who can out-run anyone.
@t4d0W2 күн бұрын
I mean when the Spurs become a more consistent playoff team they will build the roster accordingly to match up against teams like the Nuggets with a legit big. Hell during the Heat-Nuggets Finals Bam still covered Jokic and were pretty successful as a unit at initially taking away the easy pass plays. Thing is Jokic and the Nuggets were still too good and too big matchup wise everywhere else to really be denied points even in the paint.

Since the Spurs have clearly gone “all in” and are no longer tanking this season - they still have the Hawks lottery pick in the Cooper Flag 2025 Draft Sweepstakes the question now is are they still looking to bring in an all-star SF before the trade deadline? Regardless, they now make the playoffs (not play-in) as a 5-6 seed and NEXT season they win it all. If the Spurs want to go deep in this year's playoffs, however, then they need to get rid of G-League coach Mitch Johnson, whose lineups have cost the Spurs 5 games. Brett Brown would have had the team 5 games over .500 had he been picked to be acting HC. Yes, the Spurs need a REAL live NBA coach with REAL world experience. Former Spurs player Monty Williams, who was also an asst coach for Pop now lives in SA. Hire him for the rest of the year and if he does well, then sign him long term.

@@imsosrious bogus. Klays prime… 22-2-3 on 47% fg, fox prime 27-5-6 on 47% fg 2 steals per game. Finishing 11th in mvp and winning CPOY. You tell me when klay ever finished 11th in mvp. Just because he had curry draymond and kd to win rings with doesn’t automatically mean he’s better than everyone come out from under your rock

The thing that bugs me the most about this trade is how much money was moved. If advertisements work, which you would have to assume they do or why would billions of dollars be spent on it, how did this one move generate. With the emergency podcasts. Regular podcasts that got more views than normal because of this move. The more ratings that the nba will enjoy because more eyes will be on the lakers. More views for espn. More views for bill simmons. More for tnt. More views and clicks for everyone. All from this one move. Just doesn't fit. A dumb move that doesn't make sense. It's a genius move if you want to have a views and clicks explosion. Which turns into advertisement dollars. Which turns into people spending money. Just a money explosion from this move

why cant they make a rule that you can't give up 1st round picks over 3 years into the future? it's just so ridiculous
@ztlabraptor2113 күн бұрын
Why would they do that ? Picks are the currency of the league and doing that handicaps teams from making trades
@bakerownsyou3 күн бұрын
To accomplish what? It benefits both teams to be able to do this in theory. They already can't trade consecutive years picks, that is the protection, and that's why they trade later year picks...
@THE_BEAR_JEW3 күн бұрын
Nobody would make trades then. The idea is that you give them your best players in exchange for picks. The team that gets the players is expected to be good for a while, so why would the other team want the more recent picks?

The Western conference is up for grabs right now, i just hope they don't write off LeBron, and go with some other story in favor of the Celtics... But i believe the Celtics go back to back, and giannis is traded to the thunder or rockets and the eyes will be on Luka for the next 4 years

In a vacuum…Fox is better than LaVine. I will say this…I think his fit next to Sabonis is intriguing. He is significantly better than Fox in terms of shooting. The Kings offense might be better just because of the shooting. Just a thought.
