My friend @San-bao. I miss his company, tea and the beautiful island of Koh Samui. I've not been able to return to Koh Samui since 2012 and today have exchanged messages and voice notes with San-Bao. I wish him happiness, peace and good health and of course continued enjoyment and the adventures Oolong Tea has brought.

One of the most inspiring tea stories I've seen. I was fortunate enough to watch it just as I began my own tea journey late in 2017. I'm sure I've watched this video thirty times. Gong fu tea brewing has become my daily quiet place, and Taiwanese oolongs are some of my favourites.

Thank you for this beautiful documentary. I have become very passionate about oolong tea, and this passion leads me to my daily tea ritual of brewing and drinking my tea. It is a joy to set aside time for this peaceful practice each day. I wish to learn where I can find teas to buy that are worthy of my acquired and evolving taste.

So where could I get a good well rounded Oolong tea ???
@charlesperez99765 ай бұрын
A fine video,a fine story. Oolong. I struggled with Oolong for a while,and this is why. Oolong is like Bonsai,it can be a difficult thing if one approaches it as a difficult thing! I lost many Bonsai,and brewed Oolong badly in the past for this very reason. But when I started to approach Oolong with a combination of understanding and instinct,it all came together! I am,by no means,a tea master,but I can now make a delightful Oolong. Many of us come from tea bag cultures,so the proper means of steeping takes practice,for sure!

Im from Indonesia. There so many camellia sinensis growth here, once baked styled oolong, but not as delicious as Taiwanese or Chinesee Oolong. Maybe the key is methods of processing.

Nice video, but the claim that higher altitude oolongs are by definition better is not true. This is currently the prevailing view among many oolong drinkers, but this is a fad, rather than a fact. In reality, some of the finest oolongs are from low altitudes. For example, Dongfang Meiren is one of the greatest oolongs, and the best comes from its original region, around Emei and Beipu, at altitudes of 300m - 700m. Similarly, a good Dong Ding oolong (mentioned in the video) can readily match the high mountain teas from Li Shan or Ali Shan. This is in part because of the Dong Ding producers' mastery of baking techniques. There are many factors involved in the creation of a fine oolong, and altitude is only one of them. The nuclear green high mountain oolong teas that are currently in fashion will not be in fashion forever. I'd sooner drink charcoal-baked Dong Ding oolong or fine Dongfang Meiren than the more popular modern high mountain oolongs.

For the oolong tea, the higher altitudes the better quality is not quite correct. The fact is the high altitudes Taiwanese tea quality is getting worse.

Thank you for your comment Stephen. I will pass along word to the documentary participants.
@TheSanbao6 жыл бұрын
Dear Stephen, it depends on the suppliers, I am lucky , I work with small farmers, and their quality since the last 10 years stayed the same, and I am very happy, so are my long term clients too. master Huang's Dong Ding is just great too.
