I really appreciate your commentary and that you are painting something that is a bit different. I could also see this painting with the curtain as sheer with the background architecture mysteriously visible behind it. Kind of like the Holy Spirit filling the sanctuary with His presence.

Thank you - I thought of making the drapes a bit semi-transparent but feared that might make the whole painting too busy. But may be worth a try

Thanks, again, for a very useful demo, Thomas. I hear you with respect to using those little (what should I call them?) embellishments that are so much fun to do that one sometimes (frequently?…..at least speaking for myself) overdoes them. I do that with little tendrils of hair around faces in my portraits! ……but, but, they’re so much fun…….!

What a treat to hear your thought process and then watch the development of this piece. Having just taken your three day Morro Bay Art Assoc workshop I’m so glad you continue to post these. They are inspiring food for the soul for other developing artists. Knowing how architecturally detailed you naturally are, I appreciate how you are shifting to create the fascinating illusion of detail through the suggestion of shapes. This is the greatest challenge in my artistic journey now; stepping outside my comfort zone to discover new ways to achieve my intention. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much Anne - Well I was just playing around and experimenting. I'm not certain this works all that well, but the point is that it's almost always good to try things that are out of our own norms.

Mr. Schaller, thank you for taking the time to present your thought process. Recently bought the book "Architect of Light" and was fascinated by your story, style of painting and thinking. I am also an architect more drawn to the visual arts (computer graphics) and interested in light/shadows, composition and presenting a narrative. Just wanted to say that these type of videos are "pure gold" for me. So thank you for teaching us and for sharing your story. Greetings from Bulgaria.

I would to see you try Drape that is like silk and see through such that it obscures the part of the image like lifting a vale.
