Thanks a lot Thomas, these lessons will keep training and inspiring future watercolour artists forever. I have tried number of your paintings, due to the compositions that you have created, most of them have turned out rather nice. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Always nice to hear your stories Tom! Inspired me to paint my own painting while watching you draw your childhood home. Do you still sleep up there and hopefully no more fighting with your brother 🙂

I learn so much from your dialogue, I wondered: Do you talk to yourself while painting, when the camera isn't rolling?
@thomaswschaller6 күн бұрын
Thank you - And it's a great question. No. I don't at all. I prefer silence But after teaching and giving public demonstrations for so many years, I've developed a little skill in painting and talking at the same time. But it is still a little awkward. and I am not convinced I do either particularly well

Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to watch you work, very educational. The final glaze looked so terrifying but it worked out great. Interesting that your naples yellow looks so different from the one I have (van Gogh). Good to know.

Thanks - But if you watched the video and listened to the lesson, you would see that the whole point of this lesson was that there was no photo. It was a lesson in drawing from dreams and from memories - not using photo references at all. - This is Part Twp - I explain all of this in Part One

Thank you for posting this Thomas, it was a fascinating watch as always! And a beautiful painting. I noticed that you wetted your whole palette. I recently watched an interview with Hazel Soan and she advised against wetting pigments unless absolutely necessary as too much water (or water applied too frequently) breaks down the gum arabic and ruins the paint making it crumbly and unusable. What’s your take on this if you don’t mind me asking? Also - I just read that Daniel Smith lunar black can be manipulated with a magnet. How cool is that?! 😁 I wonder if it’s the same with luner violet! I’m going to try it! Best wishes, Laura
@thomaswschaller8 күн бұрын
Yes - i usually wet the whole palette just to be certain I have access to all pigments as long as possible. It is true, that over time pigments will separate from their binders . But in my experience, this only happens after a great many months and if they are not used regularly. So I tend not to work about it
