Dr. Matt Rivera of Rivera Chiropractic Group in San Carlos CA adjusts Swedish Bodybuilding Champion Henrik Lindh. Because of Henrik's heavy training schedule, he often suffers from low back pain, upper back pain, neck pain, hip pain due to pinched nerves. Dr. Matt Rivera helps relieve these symptoms with his Chiropractic Adjustment. As you can see in this video, Henrik's hips are off by more than an inch, resulting in the whole body being misaligned. Notice after Dr. Rivera's chiropractic adjustment that Henrik's legs are once again even.

Before Dr. Rivera became a Chiropractor he was an athlete with a full college football scholarship to UNR. The "slapping" is common between athletes and here it is simply used as cues to this patient who is an obvious athlete and can certainly handle it. Dr. Rivera does not use this with the hundreds of seniors, children, pregnant women and others he adjusts on a weekly basis! He has been in practice for more than 23 years and his practice is 80% referral based because he gets results! If what he was doing was just a gimmick he wouldn't be this successful. We welcome everyone (including skeptics) to come in and judge the treatment for themselves.

Another awesome video Dr. Matt Rivera!! I love your work. I can relate to this so much as I have always been heavily involved in Bodybuilding and fitness since a child. Over the last three years or so I have experienced a huge increase in physical problems, headaches (surprise, surprise), suffering with limited neck mobility (left side predominantly restricted), overactive traps, left shoulder impingement, winged scapula, my back surprisingly did not give me huge problems, although was tighter and flared up when at the gym, tight gluts, sciatic in both legs on and off but mainly in my left which would go down my leg and into my calve. Also my left leg is approximately one inch shorter than my right. Mentally I noticed reduced energy levels, more tiredness, I generally felt aggravated as my body could not sit in its natural alignment and I would be constantly trying to readjust. So over the years I have visited Physiotherapists/Massage therapists/Acupuncture and even talked to my local visited Doctor. I never used a Chiro as unfortunately I discovered so much negativity surrounding the practice compared to the others mentioned above, I heard comments like, no scientific evidence, its flawed and the most popular one I hear, "The Chiro made my back worse". Let’s be honest there is good and bad in all walks in life! From my experience Physio's have helped to some degree, all though my last two physios are more interested in walking around the room looking interested and providing me with rotational exercises and stretches. I would follow these and revisit to be again given the same advice! As for Acupuncture the only single benefit I noticed was a much deeper sleep for the first night or two. And sport massages help to a degree. But ultimately am I right in saying if the human’s spinal column and joints are not in alignment the problems will always be present? Hence why high volumes of stretching never benefited and there are deeper underlying problems. Approximately four weeks ago I finally decided to man up, be brave and make the first scary step in visiting my local family Chiropractor clinic. I have been receiving one to two sessions a week with my Chiropractor Dr. Hannah Sedgman and I have to say the results have been INCREDIBLE! From the very first session I noticed a dramatic change in my body. My body still tries go back to its old position as this is what it remembers from all the years my spine has been sat in this unnatural spinal position. So we are working on my body remembering the new alignment which takes time, which most people don't have, most expect a one off miracle session. My headaches have been reduced, amazing mobility in my neck it feels lighter, no shoulder impingement, no more aggravated traps, no back pain or stiffness, even my recent fractured wrist has recovered so much faster, greater mobility in my hips, amazing energy levels, my training in the gym is at its best it has EVER been (explosive strength like never experienced before, great muscular pumps), improved sleep and generally happier. I am just so grateful that someone can finally help with my problems that were really starting to affect my quality of life. As I explained earlier I've always had a huge passion for bodybuilding and very health conscious, since my great experience with my Chiro I have now been inspired to attend a five year course at CQ University of Australia so I can help people out there that suffer with pain and discomfort and also educate people that a Chiropractor is safe and most importantly WORKS. Kind Regards, I look forward to a shorter reply! Karl

I probably should have specified static stretching in my statement about its lack of effectiveness in injury prevention. Dynamic stretches, as you were referring to, are a different animal. While I still don't feel that they necessarily prevent injury from the standpoint of increasing flexibility, they serve as a much more suitable warmup than static stretches do since they do a much better job of increasing blood flow and core temperature.

I'm so happy I came across this video. I actually called Dr. Rivera's office at about 2:30 today hoping to be fit in for a drop-in visit later, but checked his website and found out that they were closed for lunch. After seeing this, with all the slapping and the aggressive, willy-nilly adjusting, I'll be looking for another chiropractor in the area instead. Thanks for posting this, Dr. Rivera. It's a great way to warn patients about what to expect with you!

there are general manoveurs and checks that are used to prevent injuries, and to maintain neuro-spinal health. Another thing is to deal with a real problem in the making and not preventing it, in that case a deep and specific examination is necessary, x-ray included, way before proceeding with the specific adjustment. This video is not the best example about the last thing I saw. You can watch the chiroexcellence channel on youtubbe to see a specific work, done on a specific problem.
